00:00Just back to the stuff you did over the summer in Munich, what have you actually incorporated into your game
00:05as a result?
00:07I think a lot of the stuff we worked on was for, you know, before training and after training,
00:13just little habits and little routines which essentially puts your body in the best position to go and train and
00:20perform.
00:22It's hard to, like, explain a lot of the stuff that he was doing,
00:25but it's a lot to do with the brain and your coordination and your balance and things.
00:31And I think for me being such a tall player, balance and core work is a big thing in that.
00:37So that was a lot of the work that we'd done over there.
00:40And I read that Dominic Calvert-Lewin had been there as well beforehand.
00:44Obviously, you said you spoke to the club, I imagine it was when he was at Everton,
00:47but did you speak to him at all about his experiences there?
00:49Yeah, I spoke to him before I went, just to ask him what he thought of it and how it
00:53all worked.
00:54And, you know, he only had positive things.
00:55And I think if you've seen what he's done in the last two seasons, it's probably worked for him.
01:01So, yeah, I spoke to him and he held him in high regard.
01:05So that's why I went over and had the opportunity.
01:07And just lastly, I remember before the under-21 Euros in 2023,
01:10you were telling us about how when you had the Oskar Slatter's syndrome as a kid
01:16and at Carlisle, I think you had six weeks to get a contract.
01:20Your dad played a huge role in it.
01:22I just wondered how much that's shaped your determination, your approach
01:28when you've had a lot of injuries to never give up and to keep going.
01:33Yeah, 100%.
01:34I think when I looked back then, it was probably made me mentally stronger
01:39because at that age, you don't realise the opportunity you have, I would say.
01:43And at that point, I was probably just going to give it up and throw it away.
01:47And, you know, he told me to carry on and give it your all.
01:50And I think that's what I do now, you know, through all walks of life is you've just got to
01:54give everything 100%.
01:56You know, when you're doing the rehab, you're doing it to get back on the pitch and to be in
02:01this position now.
02:02So, yeah, definitely a big part.
02:04It's Kit.
02:06Hi, Jarrod.
02:07You've talked a little bit about the conversations you've had as a team since you got to camp.
02:13What has been the message, whether it's from Thomas or any players that were involved over the summer,
02:18about what needs to change so that the team gets a different outcome in 2028
02:23and it's lifting that trophy compared to last summer when they don't quite get there?
02:27I think, like I said before, the team, we're getting closer and closer to that.
02:35And I think you look at the last two tournaments, you know, it's obviously the Argentinian result was a difficult
02:40one to take.
02:41But the performances throughout the tournament and the circumstances we're under,
02:45it shows that they can perform at a high level.
02:48So I think, like I say, it's only a matter of time.
02:51And just on this club country debate that Rob mentioned,
02:55do you understand why other players may take a slightly cautious approach to England duty with their fitness?
03:02Or do you think an England call-up is something where it should take something pretty drastic to foreguy?
03:10I can only speak for myself, I think, and all the other players,
03:15when the opportunity comes to play for England, like you were saying,
03:18it's a privilege and an honour to put on the England shirt.
03:21So I don't know the other scenarios, but I think every opportunity I get,
03:26especially to put on an England shirt, I'll take it.
03:29Thanks.
03:30And just go to Mande.
03:30We'll finish there.
03:34Hi, Jared.
03:35Everton is, you know, unusual in the sense that you've got a really big core of English qualified players.
03:44One or two might follow you and James in, I'm sure.
03:46One or two are quite unlucky.
03:48I know Jack would love to be here.
03:51Have you toured England with him and what influence has he had on you and the club since he's come
03:56back?
03:57Yeah, I think, you know, you can see the way Jack, every time he's in England, he enjoys himself and
04:03he looks like he's got a smile on his face.
04:05And I think, you know, when he's been at Everton, he's got that back now as well.
04:08And you can see the best of him.
04:10I haven't spoke too much to him about England, but every time I see him put on an England shirt,
04:16you can see how much it means to him.
04:17And I think it's the same for all players.
04:19Even on the training ground, you know, he's played now, he started on Saturday.
04:24Do you see him getting back to the sort of form that made him an automatic choice for England?
04:29Yeah, 100%.
04:30I think the last season before he picked up the injury, you've seen the form he was in there.
04:35And I think he probably would have been close to being in and around it.
04:37So I think, you know, the quality he's got, and if he stays injury-free this season, he gives himself
04:42a big chance of getting back here.
04:45OK, thank you very much.
04:46And we'll have Anthony Gordon for you soon.
04:47Cheers.
