00:36Here's the plan.
00:37It's gonna get freezing cold.
00:40We're just gonna split up.
00:42I'll see you back here in the middle.
00:45You don't wanna miss this.
00:58Beautiful.
00:58Welcome to Embark Studios.
01:01Home of Arc Raiders.
01:04For the last couple of months we've been working hard
01:07on our next big update
01:08called the Frozen Trail.
01:10And we're super excited to show you all
01:12what it's all about.
01:17Am I really looking into the camera?
01:19Yeah.
01:20We're sure? Okay.
01:21Cool.
01:22Hey, I'm Tyra Tanish, creative director on Arc Raiders.
01:25With this Frozen Trail update
01:26we're welcoming players to this new
01:28large map called Pandala Pass.
01:33Celeste and Shani has been picking up
01:35some signals.
01:36They figure out that these signals
01:37actually come from a downed walker.
01:45Celeste is asking some of the Raiders to get out there,
01:49try their chance
01:50and see what they can find in the walker.
01:54This is the first time you come up close to it
01:57and feel the scale of it.
01:58hopefully the players will feel like they're not supposed to be there.
02:04This place sits northern part of the Rust Belt.
02:07It is above the mountain range
02:08that is north of all the maps you've been playing.
02:11Raiders haven't been here before.
02:12So this is like a first Raider experience to this region.
02:17We wanted to have like a large map
02:19with lots of gameplay opportunities.
02:22The verticality, open spaces, tight spaces, close quarters
02:26also has different play styles in it.
02:29You can play a bit more strategically
02:30or you can take the close quarters sections
02:33and engage in PvP.
02:35It's also a map where you have to deal with some really harsh conditions.
02:39The Flash Freeze is something you constantly need to keep an eye on
02:43because when it hits you need to get out of it quickly
02:45and take refuge indoors
02:47or in one of the shelters scattered around the map.
02:50We know with this map one of the walkers is down
02:53and Ark is responding to this
02:56with scrambling a rescue operation
02:59and they are sending out one of their biggest vessels.
03:05The Frigate is an end game challenge for highly skilled players
03:09to get on top, solve the puzzle, get through the hazards
03:12and get the loot.
03:13The experience we are trying to give to the players here
03:15is almost like boarding a pirate ship.
03:18We are not expecting or telling Raiders to stop this thing
03:21with their weapons.
03:22You cannot basically like explode this thing.
03:24You just need to sabotage it basically.
03:32Hello, hello, testing, testing.
03:34Can we sing?
03:35We can sing a bit.
03:36We can do a bit of...
03:37Then work theme song.
03:39Oh yeah.
03:42My name is David.
03:43I do everything that has to do with enemy intent,
03:47weapons, abilities,
03:48everything that's causing you trouble in the game.
03:50That's my fault.
03:51My name is Klaus
03:52and I work with all of our enemies.
03:55So I train them
03:56and help them to behave intelligently out in the world.
04:01For Frozen Trails we have a bunch of new enemies
04:03that I think kind of feels in a pretty interesting gap
04:06in the roster of enemies.
04:09The bully is our new hulking beast,
04:12a ground-based enemy that is relentless in your face
04:15and constantly causing trouble.
04:17That is gonna come after you no matter what.
04:20It doesn't take bosses,
04:22it just attacks you relentlessly.
04:24And I think that's something that we're aiming for
04:27with this enemy,
04:28to have another very dynamic,
04:30very scary enemy
04:32that can continue to put pressure on the player,
04:34as you say,
04:35and most importantly for me,
04:37which I think is super, super cool,
04:38is that they can hopefully create these
04:40spectacular, dynamic moments
04:43where it falls down,
04:45where it stumbles,
04:46where it crashes onto players,
04:48knocks them down
04:48in really new and interesting ways.
04:53The next enemy we want to talk about
04:54is the skulker.
04:55Contrary to the bully,
04:57it's a much smaller enemy.
04:58Whereas the bully wants to be up in your face,
05:01the skulker is an opportunistic enemy,
05:03taking potshots from a distance,
05:06trying to reposition,
05:07hide,
05:08go behind rocks,
05:09rubbery,
05:10and get the drop on you.
05:12We kind of did this deliberately
05:14to kind of put out their focus on the players, right?
05:17You really need to kind of listen to it
05:18and listen for it.
05:20So it's gonna have this
05:21low profile until it attacks,
05:23where it unfolds,
05:24it shoots at you,
05:26then it kind of goes back into the shadow.
05:28I constantly kind of lose track of it
05:30when I test it,
05:31which is like,
05:32oh, it's ended up behind me, right?
05:33Which is the intent
05:34and the cool thing with it.
05:36And it's very, very fast as well.
05:37It is super fast, right?
05:38It's easy for that to happen.
05:40Yeah.
05:40Well, I'm dead.
05:42So the third enemy we want to talk about
05:44is the Hydra.
05:45It has three pairs of guns
05:47that is able to target
05:49several squads at once.
05:53Depending on how you kind of decide to tackle it,
05:56you can diverge its attention
05:58to spread its firepower,
05:59which I think is an interesting nuance to that enemy.
06:02Very exciting to see.
06:04Well, guys, that was brilliant.
06:05All right, thank you.
06:09I can draw in them here.
06:14With the story of Celeste
06:16sending out some raiders north of the Rust Belt,
06:19we want to give the opportunity
06:21to establish this narrative idea
06:24of raiders are also starting to settle
06:27on some outposts in the regions
06:28where it's close to Frozen Trail,
06:30where the downed walker is.
06:33The outpost is an extension
06:35and graduation from the raider then.
06:38It's a place to call your own.
06:39You can craft some of the furniture
06:41and you'll also have the freedom
06:43to be able to choose
06:44from various themed modules
06:46that you can build your outposts with.
06:48It is an effort to give players
06:51more chance to express themselves,
06:54not only with just character skins,
06:55but also with how they want to build their home.
06:59This is just the beginning
07:00for outposts in Arc Raiders.
07:02We see them as something that can evolve over time,
07:06bringing new ways for raiders
07:07to make their mark on the world.
07:10The outpost is also about progression
07:13and allowing players to use this new workstation,
07:18which will allow them to research,
07:20upgrading towards more high-tier weapons.
07:24Are we good?
07:25Yeah.
07:27I'm Melody.
07:28I'm a gameplay programmer
07:29on the Combat and Playstyles team.
07:31And I'm Simon,
07:32the weapons and gunplay designer.
07:34On my pick.
07:35And he's done.
07:36So in the Frozen Trails update,
07:38we also have a feature
07:39that I'm very excited about,
07:40which is weapon amplification.
07:43So with raiders becoming more capable
07:45in crafting advanced weaponry,
07:47adapting Arc Tech,
07:48they're also starting to see more ways
07:50to apply Arc Tech to their own weapons.
07:53So before you get into weapon amplification,
07:56you're going to need a research bench,
07:57which is a new crafting station for the outpost.
08:00Players will have to research in different upgrades
08:03and then have to find rare materials
08:04in order to apply those onto the weapons.
08:07An amplified weapon is kind of like
08:09the fifth quality level,
08:10except that it doesn't give you stats inherently.
08:13It instead upgrades kind of a branching path for you,
08:16where you can select different modules
08:17that change and amplify the behavior of a weapon
08:19in different ways.
08:21So we're rolling this feature out to 15 of our weapons,
08:24and it includes upgrades
08:26like being able to turn your Burletta
08:28into a fully automatic machine pistol,
08:30or being able to attach a scope to your Renegade,
08:34or adding fire bullets to the Rattler.
08:38I think in particular,
08:40Claire's will be able to personalize their weapons
08:42more than they have been able to do
08:43with our previous mods and upgrades.
08:45In particular, taking some of the weapons
08:47that you may not normally use,
08:49and turning them into maybe new favorites
08:51is a very appealing aspect of this feature.
08:54One of my favorites is attaching a drum mag to the Rattler.
08:58You still have that double bullet reload thing
09:00that you have to do,
09:01but emptying out the 65 mag round
09:05is very satisfying.
09:07I think they might be circling in there, actually.
09:10Oh, there!
09:12In the Frozen Trails update,
09:14we've got two new weapons coming.
09:15One is a light ammo battle rifle called the Stiletto.
09:19So the Stiletto is an early game alternative
09:22to the Renegade that uses light ammo instead.
09:24It's more effective against Arc than the Kettle is,
09:27but it's quite effective against Raiders too.
09:30You kind of want to keep to medium to long range with this one.
09:33Pace your shots, dip in and out of cover when you need.
09:36and really utilize the distance on this one.
09:39It's fire, it's quite flexible.
09:41It can be fast if you're pushing the button fast,
09:43but it will come at the cost of accuracy.
09:45So it's more something that you might fall back onto
09:47if somebody's pushing close in.
09:50The second weapon we have coming in
09:51is a snob-nosed revolver called the Bantam.
09:56The Bantam was intended to be some sort of contrast to the Anvil.
10:00We know that you guys like the Anvil very much.
10:02I do too.
10:02But I kind of like the Bantam almost a bit more right now.
10:06I'd say.
10:06It's just really fun to use.
10:08We have a special hip-fire animation
10:10that is like very flavorful.
10:12It gives you the cowboy fan.
10:14Yeah, exactly, exactly.
10:23One of the big gadgets that we have coming in Frozen Trail
10:26is the grappling hook, which is a new mobility gadget.
10:29And it's one of our most ambitious gadgets so far, I would say.
10:33It's like a hand-thrown rope that you can attach to surfaces.
10:36You can do stuff like rappel down the side of a building
10:39and climb in through a window, for instance.
10:42You can find yourself swinging across gaps and jumping off.
10:48Of course, you can attach yourself to AI.
10:51The grappling hook is part of a larger system we've designed
10:55of tethers and constraints.
10:56And as part of this system,
10:58we're also introducing two items in the Frozen Trails update.
11:01So you have the tether launcher, which is kind of a point-to-point gadget
11:05that allows you to connect two parts to each other.
11:09And then we have the tether grenade.
11:11You will throw it at the ground that will attach to something nearby
11:14and it will pull it in with a violent force.
11:16You could use this to pull players out of cover
11:19or to smash drones into the ground.
11:23So at this point, you guys have kind of come to expect us
11:25to add instruments with every big update.
11:28So, of course, we have two new ones coming in.
11:30We have the banjo.
11:34And we have the harmonica.
11:36I'm kind of addicted to using the banjo, though.
11:38I don't know, it's just...
11:39It has a satisfying sound and a feel to it.
11:46We on the dev team really love seeing what the community is doing.
11:50I want a photo of each of you on the Dolphin.
11:53These Arc Raiders photographers has really inspired us
11:56and I think that's one of the things that let us kind of, like,
11:58push this over the edge now and say, like,
12:00okay, actually, let's actually do a camera now.
12:04We've actually added a lot of features in the camera
12:07to give a lot of creative control to the players
12:10who are going to use the camera.
12:11So there is obviously zoom.
12:13There's also aperture presets in the camera
12:16and there's also autofocus and manual focus racking.
12:19We have a selfie cam.
12:21Yeah, there's a selfie mode in the camera with selfie emotes.
12:25Yeah, there's going to be a lot of crazy selfies.
12:30Yeah, it's going to be good.
12:32Cool.
12:32I'm Gerardo.
12:34I'm product director for Arc Raiders.
12:36Coming with Frozen Travel,
12:37there's a new progression mechanic that we call the reward passes.
12:42And this is an evolution of the Raider decks.
12:45What this brings is that it's going to be this new mechanic
12:48that allows you to do some progress
12:49connected to the Frozen Trail update.
12:52So the Frozen Trail Pass comes in with a free tier.
12:55It gives you access to all the basic cosmetics.
12:59So you get all of the outfits.
13:01And then we're introducing as well a premium track
13:04for the reward pass.
13:05It's for those players who want to get a little bit more.
13:07We then introduced some premium toggles for some of the outfits.
13:11Some very cool color variants as well.
13:14Additional hairstyles, additional backpacks and other cosmetics.
13:18At the same time, some very cool, unique, legendary weapon stencils
13:22for the premium track too.
13:24Cool.
13:25Sweet.
13:30That was some of the stuff we got in store for you
13:32in the Frozen Trail update.
13:34It's been a wild 12 months for Arc Raiders.
13:36The citizens of Speranza have been on the defense for so long.
13:40And it's now time for the players to go beyond the Rust Belt.
13:44See you topside.
13:58There's something out there. Up north.
14:10The
