00:01The Negeri Sembilan government is calling on all parties to immediately resolve the
00:06ongoing constitutional and Adat crisis in a prudent, orderly and dignified manner.
00:12Mentri Besar, Datuk Ismail Lassim said the dispute must be resolved according to the
00:18laws of the Constitution of Negeri Sembilan 1959, the state's Adat Perpati and established
00:25customary institutions.
00:26He said the state government respects the federal government, the Attorney General's
00:31chambers and institutions established under the federal constitution.
00:36At the same time, Ismail said equal respect must be given to state laws, the democratically
00:42elected state government and Negeri Sembilan's customary institutions.
00:47Ismail said the state government also regrets that the dispute was being portrayed as a direct
00:52confrontation between the administration and the monarchy.
00:56Instead, he said the issue concerns the processes, jurisdiction and interpretation of actions
01:02involving the relevant customary institutions.
01:06He maintained that his administration would continue governing the state, protecting the
01:10public and upholding the rule of law.
01:13Ismail said the state government does not want a confrontation with the royal institution or
01:19for Adat to be used as political fodder.
01:21He also stressed that the institutional and customary crisis should not be used to disrupt
01:27or restrict the legitimate state government from carrying out its duties.
01:31Ismail called for the state government to be given space to perform its functions legally
01:36and effectively while ensuring that state services continue uninterrupted.
