00:00Hello, my name is James Kerr. I'm the manager of Buckaboo Station. Buckaboo Station is a 250,000
00:06acre pastoral station about 54 kilometres northwest of Kimber in South Australia.
00:11I've been nominated for the 2020 Tweaks Australian Agricultural Awards and in the
00:18Sustainable Agricultural category. About six years ago we decided to embark on a rather ambitious
00:25restoration and regeneration of our entire station. To do this we need to put all the
00:31sheep in one mob, split the station into six 40,000 acre paddocks, reduce our stocking rate,
00:37remove all the goats from the station and do our best to remove the kangaroos from the station.
00:44We realised that in order to have success in this regeneration we needed some extra revenue so we
00:50looked at a carbon project. We were delighted when we were accepted and then we've expanded
00:56this regeneration and carbon projects right across the Paroo Pastoral Business which is another 12
01:02stations in New South Wales totalling around a million acres. Last year we had our first audit.
01:08We were issued 203,000 ACUs and in the last nine to ten months we have sold those ACUs into
01:14the
01:14marketplace for a value of around 7.6 million dollars. The carbon project has a permanence of
01:20around 25 years so we're very confident that this direction that we've taken, the strategies that
01:25we've adopted will ensure long-term sustainability and drought resilience right across our entire enterprise.
