00:07I'm Carol Mudford and I'm the founder and CEO of Shedway.
00:11I live in Dubbo, New South Wales and today we're at Yeovil Quick Shear with some of our amazing Shedway
00:16family.
00:17Shedway is a charity for suicide prevention and mental fitness in the shearing and shearing industry of Australia.
00:25Two and a half years ago, I went from shearing full-time to working as a mental health nurse.
00:30In the same month, we lost three shearers to suicide.
00:34That was the cabalist for me starting Shedway.
00:37We started as a faithful page.
00:39Today, two and a half years later, we're a national charity and have held over 200 events across every state
00:46of Australia and also New Zealand.
00:48We also do stalls, talks and workshops, race stigma and share skills.
00:54Shedway is training a team of volunteer champions like some of these guys.
00:58There's 20 of us and growing across Australia to hold our stalls and run our workshops.
01:04We've trained 62 people in Safe Talk, suicide prevention and I have four mental health first aid instructors on the
01:12team.
01:13We're holding a training weekend at the end of 2020 to train 25 of our team from across Australia and
01:20New Zealand to run our stalls and workshops into the future.
01:26Shedway is strengthening the strong heart of the Shedpicks.
