00:00Kirklees Council is making an investment of almost £2 million in a bid to crack down on
00:06antisocial behaviour and crime. They currently have a network of 134 CCTV cameras which operate
00:14across Huddersfield, Dewsbury, Batley, Merfield, Plekheaton, Heckmanwyke, Burstall and Holmfurth
00:20which are monitored 24 hours a day. Much of the existing CCTV infrastructure relies on older
00:27analogue technology which is becoming increasingly difficult to maintain. The cash will be used
00:33to modernise the existing network. The council will soon begin the procurement stage of the
00:38programme with further details about the new system and its rollout to be confirmed.
