00:19Just the injuries, early in the season, just a few of injuries.
00:24Yeah, losing to Bosa was rough yesterday.
00:26I mean, losing six out of the 10-D linemen in the last two weeks that have made our team
00:30is a little unusual.
00:32I don't think I've been a part of that, so that has been different.
00:35Can you clarify when Nick got hurt and how it happened?
00:38Just in his, he does his warm-up deal right before walkthrough.
00:41He does his own warm-up there on the side and just got his calf doing it.
00:44And that was yesterday?
00:45Yeah, right before practice.
00:47Have you spoken to him? How is he taking office?
00:50I haven't talked to him directly.
00:52I know he's bummed out, but he'll be back.
00:57How long do you think, Kyle? Are we looking at a couple weeks, or is this months?

01:03Um, but I'm guessing around a few weeks.
01:06Is there any fear that this could affect him long-term?

01:15It's a discussion. I mean, he's right there at that point, along with a couple other guys that are all

01:20So, because of the number we have on it, we won't be able to do all of them.

01:27the chances of being sooner, and something.

02:06Just, like, does it ever come to a point where you're like, can we catch a break?
02:10Um, I mean, I've got, I've felt sorry for myself a number of times, but I think you just, you
02:17waste time doing that.
02:18You get used to just dealing with it, and just, I mean, lots of people have to go through stuff
02:21in this league all the time,
02:22some worse than others, and I know we haven't had good luck these last couple years, and, um, started out
02:28bad,
02:28so hopefully we're getting it out of the way, and it'll get better as the year goes.
02:32Um, I'm happy that we haven't lost those guys for the whole year, um, but it's, you just plug away
02:38and look on to the next challenge.
02:40Can you consider that Bosa got hurt, um, it was in a practice, technically, like, Colin's practice,
02:48the same amount of practice, does that force you guys to re-evaluate at all the way that you're conducting
02:53practices,
02:53or do you think, like, those are all just kind of freak injuries?
02:56Um, I mean, he got hurt warming up on his own, doing high knees and stuff, so, no, don't evaluate

03:04His strained calf, do you know if it's on the right leg or the same leg that was injured from

03:09and if so, do you think that's maybe a carryover, as in it didn't get the same amount of...

03:25Uh, I mean, I know everyone's down when anyone gets hurt, they're definitely down when a guy like Bosa gets

03:29but, I mean, um, it happened in our walkthrough, um, by the time we got to practice, guys were moving
03:34around,
03:35and you don't hear people talking, and, I mean, it's football, so guys, I think, are used to it a
03:38lot.
03:39I think it's different when guys have a real bad injury where you know you've lost them for the year,
03:44but it was unfortunate.
03:46Guys were down for them, but it's nothing you would have noticed if you were out there or anything like
03:51that.

04:40You know, and obviously, this is more of a question for Raheem Morris, but how does this
04:44sort of change your strategy?
04:47Because one thing we know about Nick Bosa is that his absence severely hampers the Niners'
04:55ability to just play it straight.
04:58And so, therefore, you might need to dedicate more linemen, as Grandy just pointed out,
05:04or more blitzing or whatever, if you're going to try to get to the quarterback.
05:08It also leaves you vulnerable, though.
05:10Yeah.
05:10It depends on the situation, obviously, and what you want your approach to be.
05:15Because if you just go, I'm thinking about them having more Jaden Duggar, linebacker,
05:19and playing more base in the 4-3.
05:21Well, if you only rush four against their five blockers, they don't need to have anyone
05:25stay in chip.
05:27And that's where the Nick Bosa effect is really going to be felt.
05:29Because when Nick is on the field, and it's a passing situation, you probably need somebody
05:34else over there to get a piece of him to help the left tackle or the right tackle.
05:38And with that gone, now offenses don't have to worry about devoting an extra person for
05:43an opponent.
05:44We have already arrived at the, I don't know who those people are, stage of the program.

07:51I checked the spread, by the way, and it's Niners by two and a half right now.

07:59And that will change based on how they look.

08:09So depending on how they perform there, depending on any other injuries that may pop up for both teams,
08:14that all can be affected.
08:15But, okay, so they're favored against the Broncos.
08:19The Seattle game is going to be really hard.

08:24And then after that, you come home for Washington and go on the road in Atlanta
08:28before you're by.
08:29And then in theory, as things look on paper right now, you would have a chance to be healthy

08:35So what is the near-term effect?

08:42But I don't think it's the end of the world by any stretch.

09:21And I very much believe that in this moment, what Nick needs to do the rest of the way
09:27this year is something that makes the 49ers want to or believe in him for the future of
09:36his career.
09:37Like, I think there are huge questions there.
09:39And they have a contract out at the end of this year.
09:41It's not the cheapest thing in the world, but it's doable.
09:44And if you don't do it, then you're signing up for two more years of Nick.
09:48And if you ask me right now in this moment, if I'd want to do that, I'd say no.
09:51Well, and beyond signing up for two more years, he already is signed for two more years.
09:55But you're going to probably, if you decide that he is somebody you want to keep, you're
10:00going to have to tear that up and figure out a way to stretch more money into the future
10:04because he's set to make a cap hit of 54 next year and then 47 the year after that.
10:12And so the Niners always throw cash at it and stretch it out.
10:15So you can either make the cut and have the cap hit.
10:18There's a little savings, but also a big dead cap.
10:22Or you can swallow hard and sign him and stretch it out.
10:26You have to do one of the two.

11:20know, they got a lot of linebackers.
11:21And I read that, uh, on the depth chart, they got a couple of six, five, six, six, uh, like
11:27hybrid linebackers.
11:28So, uh, I don't know if Raheem's got it in him.
11:31We've got bag of tricks.
11:33Uh, I know he's been running a lot of, uh, five defensive front formation, but, uh, since
11:38you know, that, that's the department of the defense is right now, a lot of injured
11:43bodies.
11:44Uh, so I was wondering, uh, can they go to, uh, like, uh, a three, four and take advantage
11:49of their linebackers, you know, uh, put them in action and let them hunt go Niners.

12:36in the past, but do remember, this is a new coordinator.
12:39And there are some new and very key players here.
12:43I don't want to hear if Nick Bosa goes out, we need to now run a new system.
12:49You can't do that.

12:50These guys, like, first of all, that's their system and they've been working on it and
12:54training on it for months, quite frankly.
12:57So, um, to come in and strategically have a shift with the way you go about your business,
13:02to me, very dangerous.

13:06You're much rather going to say, okay, let's go find some bodies who can give us 65% of
13:12who Nick Bosa is.
13:13And we put them in there and, and you, you try to plug the holes in the dam and do

13:21until he gets back.
13:22That's what you got to do.
13:23It's all you can do unless you want to get aggressive in week three in the trade market.
13:27But if you think about acquisitions, they're already going to get it's Mike L Williams sooner
13:32than Nick Bosa, but then it's going to be Nick Bosa.
13:34And so you are going to get some top flight, you hope, uh, acquisitions, even though they're
13:39already on your team.
13:40And to switch from a four, three to a three, four would be like switching from Republican
13:45to Democrat.
13:46You're a Congressman.
13:47It's like, you know what?
13:48Suddenly I think I'm going to become a Republican or vice versa.
13:50It's not, it's just not that easy.
13:52It's not something that you ever see, especially in the middle of a year.
