00:00A girl has tragically died following a collision on Shingcliffe Lane involving a Fiat 500 and a Ford Transit.
00:07The crash happened at around 5.30pm on Thursday 24th September.
00:12Both drivers suffered minor injuries.
00:16A surviving passenger from the Fiat 500 was taken to University Hospital North Durham for treatment following the crash and
00:24emergency crews worked at the scene.
00:27Durham Police are asking anyone who saw the crash on Shingcliffe Lane to contact them.
00:32They are also appealing to see any dashcam footage that could help with the investigation.
00:39The girls' family are receiving specialist support as the community grieves the loss of a young life.
