00:32in the UK as fantastic, claiming the five men arrested were planning a big plot against the
00:39UK base that houses American troops and aircraft. A major counter-terror operation is unfolding in
00:48the UK after five men were arrested near air base that hosts American military personnel.
00:55The arrests happened near RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire after police received a call at around 12.45
01:04AM about three suspicious vehicles apparently traveling towards the base. Armed officers then
01:13moved in near the village of Welford and arrested five men. Initially, the suspects were detained
01:20under suspicion of offenses under the Explosives Act. But the case was later escalated, with the men being
01:28held on suspicion of preparing a terrorist act. And the incident has now drawn a response from U.S.
01:36President Donald Trump. Speaking during a visit to Chicago, Trump described the arrests as fantastic.

01:54Trump also said the suspects had been under investigation for a long time and credited cooperation
02:01between U.S. and British authorities for the operation. But there is an important distinction here.
02:08British authorities have not publicly confirmed that the suspects were planning an attack on RAF Fairford,
02:16beyond the facts of the ongoing investigation. They have also not established any link between
02:23the suspects and Iran. That matters because RAF Fairford is a U.S.-linked military facility and has been
02:33used by American forces for operations in the past. But at this stage, investigators have not publicly
02:41confirmed who the suspects intended to target, what exactly they allegedly planned, or whether Iran had
02:49any connection to the case. UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham described the incident as deeply concerning for
02:58local residents. He thanked police, counter-terrorism teams, and the armed forces involved, as well as
03:05residents who were evacuated. He also urged people not to speculate while the investigation continues.
03:13So what do we know right now? Five men have been arrested. Three suspicious vehicles triggered the
03:21initial police response. A 400-meter cordon was established. Around 85 households were evacuated
03:29as a precaution, and counter-terrorism investigators are now examining the case. But the bigger questions
03:36remain unanswered. Were the suspects actually planning an attack on RAF Fairford? What was inside the
03:44vehicles? And was the base itself the intended target? Those answers have not yet been publicly established
03:52by British authorities. For now, the investigation continues, with the suspects in custody and specialist
04:00teams examining the evidence. And despite Trump's claim that the suspects were looking to do big damage, the
04:07full nature and motive of the alleged plot remain under investigation.
