00:03Former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaqob is seeking to challenge the validity of the charge against him over
00:10an alleged failure to declare assets.
00:13His lawyer, Datuk Amir Hamzah Arshad, said the defence will file an application once it has received and studied the
00:20case documents.
00:22At the mention in the Sessions Court on Tuesday, the prosecution handed over part of the documents to the defence.
00:29These include documents on forfeiture and Ismail Sabri's asset declaration.
00:34The prosecution asked the court to fix a date for the remaining documents and the witness list.
00:40The defence asked for the balance to be handed over before the next mention.
00:44The court fixed December 4th for the next mention.
00:48On August 27th, Ismail Sabri was charged with intentionally giving a written statement that did not comply with a notice
00:57issued by the MACC
00:58under Section 36, Subsection 1A of the MACC Act, dated January 7th, 2025.
01:06He is accused of not declaring assets listed in an appendix, including RM14.77 million in cash and large sums
01:15in foreign currencies.
01:16The offence allegedly took place at MACC headquarters in Putrajaya on February 7th, 2025.
01:24He faces up to five years jail and a fine of up to RM100,000 if convicted.
