Bill’s shuttle bus camper conversion proves you do not need a six-figure build to travel comfortably. In this tour, the 78-year-old retired veteran walks through his 2015 Chevrolet Express 3500 shuttle bus, transformed into a simple tiny home on wheels for state park camping and easy road trips.
He kept the build practical: shore power, a 120V-to-12V converter, a Jackery power station, a window AC setup, water tanks, and over 6'2" of standing room. Inside, he shows smart DIY details like magnetic blackout shades, custom cabinet latches, a marine pedestal table, a roomy mattress, and a layout designed around comfort, reliability, and low-cost travel.
This is a grounded RV conversion and camper van tour for anyone researching shuttle bus conversion, tiny house on wheels, budget camper build, or simple off-grid camping ideas. It also highlights how one owner built around the way he actually travels, using park bathrooms, basic systems, and mechanical repairs to stay road-ready.
Created for viewers looking for shuttle bus camper conversion ideas, budget tiny home builds, DIY van life inspiration, and practical RV interior tours. A strong search fit for camper van conversion, tiny house on wheels, state park camping, and affordable travel living.

00:00I bought a sewing machine. I bought a sewing machine in a thrift store and learned how to
00:07use it. Welcome back to the show. This is Patrick with New Jersey's Outdoor Adventures YouTube
00:12channel. On today's episode I met up with Bill. Bill has a really cool DIY shuttle bus camper
00:18conversion that he built into a little tiny house on wheels. He's going to give us a full tour inside
00:23now and this thing is incredible so join us. Hey Patrick it's been so nice to meet you. We've
00:30talked a little bit this morning and I've gotten to know you a little bit. I've watched thousands
00:35of your YouTube videos probably 2,000 but I've also associated myself with other people that you know
00:43from your YouTube channel so I've picked up other people that I follow. George from Humble Road is
00:49one of my favorites. So I've got my own shuttle bus here which I've converted. I'd like to show you
00:55around it a little bit and show you what I've done to it. It is a 2015 Chevy Express 350
01:036 liter V8 gas
01:07dually wheels on the back. It's a heavy riding truck and but so far it's running good. I had I
01:13bought it with 152,000 miles on it. That's one of the reasons I bought it. I paid like 10
01:17grand for it
01:18and it was in the in the process of being converted and when I got it I went in and
01:25gutted most of the
01:27stuff that was done before and I finished it off myself. On the outside I put this film on the
01:35windows
01:35kind of for to keep the sun out and basically for privacy you cannot see in during the daylight but
01:43I
01:43can be in there looking out and I can see everything so that's nice and then I've I needed air
01:51conditioner
01:51and this is how I've done it. It's kind of a wonky thing. I don't like it and I want
01:58to change it. It's
01:59only a 6,000 BTU window air conditioning from my house. I had it and but these were the emergency
02:07windows on the bus so this is where I put it and I'll show you more when we get inside
02:12and
02:17but it's just a piece of plywood with the air conditioner so I have to set it up every time
02:21I
02:22come to a campsite I gotta put it in the window open this window put it in plug it in
02:26but every time I
02:28go somewhere I'm in a state park I'm originally from Florida so I've been to many many many of
02:34the state parks down in Florida I have a list of them I have a little X's next to the
02:38ones that I
02:39like and an X how many times I've been there one of my favorites is Tomoka State Park it's down
02:44in
02:45Ormond and then Blue Springs State Park over in the land another favorite but that's where I go I go
02:51to
02:52the state parks a lot of them have museums points of interest forts there's usually some reason that they
02:58created the state park in Florida so that's where I go and I get to explore them I get to
03:02walk on the
03:02trails so this is my vehicle for getting there and doing it and this is like the fifth one I've
03:08had
03:08I had a teardrop which was way too small but it was fun then I had a 17 foot eco
03:17trailer that was fine
03:18but I keep going through these iterations I buy one get rid of it I had for a couple years
03:22to use it and
03:23enjoy it and then I get rid of it and do something else then I had a 22 foot four
03:28winds class c
03:30that's the one I should have kept because it's basically like like this but it had everything in
03:34it even a generator which was nice but uh then I had the last one was a chevy van just
03:43a low top chevy
03:43van that's the reason I get rid of it I wanted a high top and then this is what came
03:48next and
03:49uh I went out specifically looking for a school bus and this is what I found this is what I
03:54ended up
03:54buying but uh again the I did the windows the air conditioning I put the uh 30 amp power supply
04:03in
04:03here and this is just an emergency exit I think if the shuttle bus tipped over and it's just storage
04:10right now it's just dead storage all the stuff I brought up here and this is also where my water
04:14tanks are you can't see them maybe we'll show you when we get inside but uh I got a 16
04:21gallon fresh
04:23and a 16 gallon gray tank and 12 volt water pump to move the water this is cute my daughter
04:32called me
04:32up and she saw the bus and she said uh does it have a name what's the name of the
04:37bus this is well it
04:38doesn't have a name but I always thought I would uh put a thing on there see the usa in
04:45your chevrolet
04:46and if you remember back I'm 70 I'll be 78 years old this month the 22nd of july I'll be
04:5478 so I grew
04:56up in the 50s and 60s and it was a tv show dinah shore and her sponsor for her tv
05:03show was chevrolet
05:05and you'd see the 55 chevys and the 57 chevys in the show in the show and she's out there
05:11in a big
05:11gown and she was the host of the show and she's singing see the usa in your chevrolet and it
05:18went
05:18on and on and on so that's why I came up with that logo so my daughter has one of
05:23these uh little cricket
05:24vinyl machine makers so she made that for me and sent it to me so that's why that's on here
05:31so moving around there's not much on this side this is just the condenser for the inside air
05:38conditioner uh it doesn't work so when I get back to florida after my vacation up here in new york
05:46that's going to come off and uh I'm thinking of painting these two bottom panels in a black uh
05:53black gray tank so this is the power for the unit while it's parked in all I ever use it
05:59is uh for
06:00is uh camping in state parks so I always have power and I always have water so
06:09uh just before I came up here I was having trouble with it like a shimmying in the front when
06:14I was
06:14driving so I just spent five thousand dollars for six brand new tires and uh and it was making a
06:24rubbing sound in the uh in the front right so I was going to when I came up here my
06:31uh
06:34my son-in-law and my grandson are both mechanics and they said they heard it but I was talking
06:39to
06:39them on the phone like I hear this whooping sound from the front right wheel and they said it sounds
06:44like the rotor hitting the backing plate so I said well when I come up there we'll take a look
06:49at it
06:50so yeah we can do that so unfortunately my son-in-law who was a diesel auto mechanics his whole
06:59life
06:59just had a major stroke so he's out of commission right now so in the meantime after that's happened
07:07I felt I needed to see what that was before I took the ride up here so I had it
07:11down in John Hall
07:12Chevrolet in Daytona so five thousand dollars later I have brand new calipers brand new rotors
07:20brand new bearing hubs inside and outside bearings and all brand new hubs so now it drives like a new
07:25car new truck so I'm happy with that so
07:32so let's take a walk inside I'll show you around a little bit this is how I get in now
07:38is the key
07:39so I can take it with me and it's locked so I leave generally leave the key in here so
07:45I can get
07:45in that a little easier but I brought my weights with me because I am actively exercising and I got
07:54some kettlebells with me I haven't been out there this morning yet but after I get settled up in New
07:59York I'll certainly be back using them this curtain is more for the air conditioner to keep the cool in
08:06and
08:06keep the heat out plus it looks cool you can't see in
08:19so basically this is the living space it's a 22 foot shuttle bus
08:24and when I got it it was actually it was a
08:30Orlando airport shuttle bus that's what it originally was that was when you had seats in
08:36here and a cargo cargo rack up here and everything after I got it somebody had started a conversion in
08:44here prior prior to me getting it so this dresser was in here a few things were done but since
08:50I've had it
08:52I've added these drawers I have a new countertop these overhead cabinets
09:00the sink this is a hundred bucks on amazon so that's a good find I liked it the fact that
09:05it was up here
09:05so I didn't have all this plumbing and stuff under there there's still some under there but it's not as
09:10as bad as a conventional sink that sits down into the cabinet I don't do any cooking
09:18I don't do any cooking in here so all I have is a hot propane butane butane stove and that's
09:27really
09:27just for coffee and tea and to maybe heat up a cup of water so I can wash my face
09:34in the morning so
09:35with warm water other than that not much to show up here this was probably an overhead space for maybe
09:45luggage or something like that when you come in here you can throw stuff up here I think this was
09:49changed by the original uh the first owner but uh I just keep uh I just keep uh this is
10:00all my
10:01electronics I got a jackery here which is it's only the jackery 500 I first found out about these from
10:07uh van city van life uh chrome chrome valdez and I follow I followed him for years I still follow
10:13him
10:13and uh that's where I first found out about that but it's a 500 it's a little small
10:19uh I do want to get the uh I'm looking right now it's about a thousand dollars of blue eddy
10:25the 300 elite and I've measured this left right so it will fit in here so I can plug it
10:32right in
10:32and just drill some holes in here and get the wires back and forth so that's my next iteration next
10:37purchase for this thing uh this is this is my heat this is propane if I'm out a park uh
10:48I just I had
10:49it so I carry it I don't use it that much if I'm in a state park in the winter
10:54and it's really chilly I
10:55have a little a little electric heater this little guy and it's probably only a thousand watts it's like a
11:02hair dryer so I just plug that in and it'll run you out it'll absolutely run you out you just
11:08sit
11:08it on the floor turn it on and keeps the thing warm all night and uh let me explain this
11:15over here to
11:16you this is a uh converter not an inverter but a converter so it takes line voltage 120 volt line
11:22voltage and converts it to 12 volts that's what's running uh yeah it's running these uh little lights
11:29I got around here it's running this thing anything 12 volts it's more the water pump for the uh sink
11:37and what else that's probably about it uh
11:42yeah that's about it and then I can this is uh line voltage because I'm in a campsite so I'm
11:48plugged
11:48into the pedestal so I have line voltage in here and this just turns these lights on here
11:54rather than plugging in now they did that this is plugs the uh converter in there and now I can
12:01also charge the jackery so I got the thing left here I plug the jackery and I plug it in
12:05here I'll
12:06charge back up and then when I uh get on the road oh I actually run this extension cord to
12:13the refrigerator
12:14back there because that's a line voltage refrigerator so when I unplug from line voltage it's don't have
12:21any power so I run an extension cord from there into here and I can power that to to to
12:26my next
12:27destination and then if you then when I was getting in and out of from here uh it's kind of
12:36hard to get
12:37in and out of here if you want to get in here in fact let me show you how I
12:40did I put these two big
12:41handles I found them I found them on amazon and some uh barn or something like that or some more
12:48barn a big cast iron handles and stuff like that so I can actually get it just makes it a
12:55little easier
12:56to squat down here and then I just found this out on the trip up and this was this blew
13:02my mind because
13:03this was down here before so that's kind of why I had these but now I just found out there's
13:09a lever
13:09here and I can raise the steering wheel so that was a bonus that was that was cool uh this
13:15is how
13:15you open the door the shuttle bus door from here let me you know let me close it again just
13:27to keep
13:27the cool air in here I got the air conditioning on and then this is obviously for my phone from
13:34my
13:35maps or for guidance when I'm coming up here and I just put this in not too long ago I
13:39have one like
13:40this in my subaru because I do a lot of driving for lift but it's hooked to the mirror and
13:46I think
13:47it's at a little too far because what was happening it was kind of going down like that so
13:51the mirror so I put the spring clamp on there kind of stopped it from falling but I'm going to
13:57change
13:58that when I get home I don't like it I had a cup holder with the phone down here and
14:02I didn't like it down
14:03down low so I put that up there but so that'll get changed
14:15and what else could I show you let me show you this here this kind of came about for two
14:22reasons
14:22actually it's just a privacy curtain because when I was in a campsite I had originally had
14:29uh these uh drapes I put them across here like that just at night so people couldn't see in
14:38and then down in Florida when it's 95 degrees it's so hot I uh ended up putting these in
14:46and they're just up here with magnets I got little uh
14:50these are really strong magnets and I put this metal strip on here just to
14:59just to hang it up there more magnets and these are just wrapped with duct tape because they were
15:05just on I just wrapped them with duct tape so they stick a lot they're hanging all over the place
15:10I use a lot of magnets for for that these are all magnets here so and then so I got
15:17my privacy
15:18and it also keeps the sun because if I'm parked at the sun during the day the sun beats in
15:24here and
15:24this gets so hot you can't breathe out here it's so hot so that helped a lot with that so
15:29I kind of
15:30contain the space a little bit to kind of keep the air conditioning back here
15:34so this is just uh shuttle bus stuff I think a lot of this is just for the uh the
15:40door the door for
15:42the shuttle bus it's a hydraulic open and close electric hydrox right now it's 73 degrees in here I got
15:49the air conditioning going and then uh this is my uh drinking water and it's just uh that's all it
16:01is
16:03just for coffee in the morning tea in the afternoon something like that I do have a 13 gallon fresh
16:10water tank it's underneath the bed underneath the bed and the pump is under there and then there's a
16:16gray water tank in back which the sink drains into the gray water tank and then I can dump both
16:21of them
16:22out the back if I want to empty them and then there's a switch over here that turns this the
16:28pump on and
16:29off there's the first one on and off so if it's on and I got power 12 volts I got
16:37this this is a cute
16:38little thing we found on amazon it'll do this a little swivel on here
16:45but it's only cold water my next iteration or my next change uh will be a uh little electric heater
16:54I see them on amazon they're like less than 100 bucks 80 85 bucks something like that I think it's
16:59like a one gallon electric hot water so I just put the cold water in bring a hot water out
17:04to the other
17:04side of this because this doesn't do anything over here it's only the one side of the cold water
17:08and plug it in and I'll have one gallon it's just nice to wash your hands in the winter time
17:13if it's warm
17:14or to uh maybe uh warm water to wash your face in the morning so that's that's what'll happen next
17:24uh these overhead doors there's a story that goes with these overhead doors and uh after smashing my
17:30head three times I changed them these are cabinet doors from mose they're the unfinished variety so
17:37this was all unfinished when I got them like this and I paint on this color because it matches the
17:43color in the bus but these doors these handles were here and the door cabinets opened like this
17:52so what I found is I would open the cabinet this one or that one get a coffee cup out
17:57go over here and
17:58do this and then as I'm moving back and forth here heating up water or getting a spoon out or
18:04whatever
18:04I need I come over here and drove my head into the corner of this cabinet I did three times
18:10the last
18:11time was pretty good I had three big gashes in my head I said holy shit I got to change
18:16this thing so
18:17this is what I did I got regular conventional uh overlay hinges and I took the handles out of here
18:25put them down here patched this up sanded it painted it all done so the thinking is now
18:34these probably won't fly open when I'm driving although they could so this is the way I lock
18:43it right here this is just something I came up with I tried a lot of different things
18:49taught us fighting toggles and I had magnets on the back of them I had magnets on the drawers down
18:55here
18:55but as I loaded them up and put more stuff in you go around the corner the door slides open
19:00and that happened more times than I can tell you and it was annoying so the magnets didn't work the
19:05little clutches they forget so this is what I came up with these little guys here and these are uh
19:11these are just simply a piece of common pine that I cut out with a scroll saw counter sunk a
19:17hole
19:18and put a screw in there and that's what all those are
19:23and then this dresser was uh it's just a basically a bedroom dresser a clothes dresser
19:30and it's it's just uh got all my stuff in it this kind of got heavy because I got all
19:35my clothes in
19:36there because I'm going to be up here for a month and again the more space you have the more
19:42uh the more
19:44you're going to fill it with stuff and then this is just a couple little cubbies I keep all my
19:48garbage
19:49bags here and these are garbage bags for the garbage can uh a pair of shoes down here and got
19:58shoes
19:58stacked over here and then if you look at the floor when I got this originally it was just a
20:05shuttle bus
20:06floor it looked like a commercial black uh black floor so I put uh cover the whole thing in a
20:16sheet of
20:16of one like that's a quarter inch uh plywood and then I put the floating floor on top and it's
20:24just
20:24a floating floor it all interlocks together and uh molding holds it in place and then a couple throw
20:30rugs on top of it and uh and we're good to go under the sink here it's again it's just
20:36uh more stuff
20:39I got another water bottle because I don't drink the fresh water I don't drink the water out of the
20:43parks and stuff like that I got bottled water for drinking and bottled water for this here
20:51so these little chairs uh I looked and looked and looked I had a bench in here I had a
20:57couple
20:57different things I got rid of that I had a jump seat in here it was an original car seat
21:03that was here
21:04had a big compartment of it that all went I wanted a seating space where I could sit and scroll
21:10sit and
21:10watch a video sit and do whatever I want but it had to be comfortable that was my thing it
21:15had to
21:16be comfortable and my wife will tell you I won't buy a chair or a couch anything unless I sit
21:21in it
21:22it's comfortable to me these are comfortable I found them in a downtown downtown furniture in Daytona
21:31it's a thrift store used furniture store I think I paid like a hundred and quarter each for them
21:36but the color just happened to match the color of the cabinets and the color of the rug so that
21:42was
21:42a bonus I would have bought them if they were plaid I would have bought them if they were orange
21:46it
21:46didn't matter they just had to be comfortable that was my criteria and then these move around so I can
21:53actually swivel them I can turn that one there to have dinner to eat something it's but it's pretty much
22:00set up as a solo traveler I'm all by myself most of the time I go away for three day
22:06weekends just to
22:07get out in the woods to walk the trails and uh but uh if I if I if I get
22:15underway if I'm actually
22:17going out I have to strap these guys down so I have this this uh ratchet strap here and it's
22:27actually
22:27hooked onto the the frame of the bus so this is not going anywhere so basically this has to come
22:34around here it comes around the second chair these get pushed up against the table like that
22:42and then this gets hooked onto this thing and it gets ratcheted down tight these are not going anywhere
22:48when they're uh when they're uh strapped down for travel
22:58and then depending on where I'm parked and which way I'm facing like right now on this side I have
23:04a road out here there's nobody here this place is super super quiet but I can look out I can
23:09see what's
23:10going on out there and this is the perforated stuff that you saw on the windows outside so I can
23:17see out
23:18but you cannot see in which is nice it's on all the windows except the back one but I got
23:24a curtain on
23:24that but at night when it's dark outside and the lights are on here you can see in not clearly
23:32because
23:33you got this perforation stuff on here but these are my curtains and these are just again uh thrift store
23:41finds I went to thrift stores the bed sheet that's all it is I uh bought a sewing machine
23:48I bought a sewing machine in a thrift store and I learned how to use it so it's I'm not
23:54good at
23:55sewing but it's a kind of you can see my and then I had uh this was kind of double
24:02say I'm going to
24:03redo this that's why I'm not too crazy about it but I'm going to redo them I just put them
24:07up as a
24:08prototype to see if I liked it and I do so this is the way I open and close the
24:13curtains and again just
24:14when you're done just roll this guy back up
24:19so I like this I like this I've seen many people that do electric shades they roll them up and
24:25down
24:26uh curtains I thought about curtains on a long pipe but this is what I came up and this is
24:30what I like
24:31so that's going to stay and then uh I got this little table that's just something to put your
24:39stuff on and this was actually came out of the boating world this was uh so it'll go up and
24:45down
24:45I can raise it up and down a couple inches I'm not that far but uh it's solid screwed down
24:53to the
24:54floor of the bus and it's not going anywhere and then I had this all the space up here I
25:00didn't know
25:00what to do I could have put more cabinets up here but this is what I chose to do and
25:06I had this two by ten
25:10so I cut it down a little bit I think that's about eight inches deep and uh it's up here
25:16and it's
25:17actually anchored into the bus with uh upside I got uh wall brackets and they're upside down so this is
25:25mounted to the back of the bus and the bottom of it comes out here and these are rock solid
25:29I
25:30I screwed them in self-tapping screws ratchet them down this thing is not going anywhere
25:36so then for a long time I had these things baskets up here and what I found with baskets
25:43same as cabinet doors you don't know what the hell's in them you look you know you're looking for
25:47something you got to take them all down look in there to find what you want so I saw these
25:52on amazon
25:55so I got all these guys and I love it other than it looks cluttered and junky but uh I
26:00can see
26:01what's in there I want something I know where it is I just go up and get what I want
26:04it's just
26:04in more space of hang stuff uh other than uh this here's got I wanted the warm look of wood
26:15that's
26:15why this is up here I love the the honey glow the warmth of it and these I think they
26:21call them edison
26:22lights this is line voltage I didn't want led I didn't want that white bright color so these are
26:29just uh like christmas tree lights is all they are nice to staple them up here very simple and
26:35uh and uh I do have a uh a ceiling fan up here this did not work and if it
26:43did I didn't know where
26:44it was being powered from when I got it so I took all this stuff along so it's just directly
26:50connected
26:50I'm going to wire from the fuse panel 12 volts up into here snake the wire down through the ceiling
26:56so this does work I can't open it up but it's only one direction whichever way I have it connected
27:01it's one direction exhaust and uh but eventually I'm going to put a another one up there that I
27:12with variable speed something like that and I don't do any cooking in here I'm pretty much a fruitarian
27:1980 90 percent fruit that's all I eat anymore I do eat meat but I'm not going to cook in
27:25here I'm not
27:25going to fry a steak or cook eggs in here I don't want that fat splattering all around I don't
27:32want
27:32grease I don't want to cook bacon in here that's all going to get done outside if I do it
27:37so this is
27:38basically just a butane uh it's a butane thingy just for uh just heating up a a cup of water
27:50a cup
27:52for a cup of coffee or a cup of tea that's it that's all I use it for or maybe
27:57heating up a cup of water
27:58I'll throw it in the sink put a little water in there just so I have a face cloth to
28:04wash my face with warm
28:07water this here I just uh it was laying on the counter it was over there it was here it
28:12was
28:12there it was all over the place and I don't like clutter it may look cluttered but I don't like
28:16clutter I put a magnet on the back of this now it has a new living space uh these are
28:22all magnets
28:23hanging up here for whatever you might need a magnet for they're all covered in duct tape uh these I
28:29put
28:29up here because this was this is fairly this is new just for the trip up here I had a
28:36a dorm fridge in here a little low one and uh I could first of all I couldn't get that
28:42much stuff
28:42in it this carries a lot more a lot more stuff and I'm going to be up here for a
28:47whole month so
28:48I wanted to be able to go grocery shop and put enough stuff in there that I wouldn't have to
28:51go out several times so I had this one in the garage so I got rid of the little one
28:56put the
28:57this big one in and it measured it was the same footprint same depth same width the only thing I
29:03gained was a freezer and a lot more space down here so that's why this one is in here and
29:09it's
29:09just a regular you know house refrigerator and it draws like two watts so it really doesn't draw much
29:15power and then uh I figured out you know the little one I had I had it in there for
29:23a long time
29:24and never went anywhere I go around the corner never went anywhere but after I put this one
29:29I'm thinking wow it's top heavy every once in a while you go around the tight corner those back
29:34dually wheels will go over a curb and it takes the bus and throws it this way um I was
29:39worried about
29:39the whole fridge going over so this is what I came up with I just did this two days before
29:46I left
29:48just a cut down piece of wood I cut these out of pine on a scroll saw screwed them on
29:53each side
29:54cut this to length and this just drops right down in there that fridge ain't going anywhere now for the
30:01travel on the road and then uh then I if I take this off and when I'm parked somewhere I
30:09leave it off
30:09and I use it but I'm thinking what do I do with this thing I stand it here put it
30:13on the shelf what am
30:14I going to do with this thing so I put three magnets on it and now it lives on the
30:18side of the fridge
30:22and uh moving back a little bit more I'll show you and this is basically just a junk collector down
30:28there it's all the stuff that I'm traveling with and I got two water tanks over there they're 16 gallon
30:37each
30:38the first one is a fresh water tank and the water pump is right next to it and the other
30:42is the gray
30:43tank which is just the discharge from the sink and that's that other than that that's where the air
30:49conditioner is when this thing comes out of the window it goes underneath there
30:56and then this is the best thing I ever bought this new mattress this is a pillow top mattress it's
31:02a
31:03real mattress you lay down on this thing you'll be sleeping five minutes it's so so so comfortable
31:10and this is a real mattress it's an innerspring cloth mattress before this I had a one of those
31:17memory foam mattresses never slept well on it it was too hard and then uh shout out to a Canadian
31:27friend Vivian who said she had a memory foam mattress and never slept well on it and she said she
31:34heard
31:35that they off gas okay maybe that's true so I had I've had three of them I had one at
31:41home I didn't sleep
31:42good on it got rid of it and I had one in here never slept good got rid of it
31:47I have a regular mattress
31:49now cloth fabric inner spring mattress pillow top it's so good it is so good so I'm happy about that
31:59so that's that's why this doesn't fit the memory foam was a different size so it's a little bit bigger
32:04but look at the size of this thing this is and it's a brand name it's a big brand name
32:10like
32:10Serta or that's one of the thickest mattresses I think I've ever seen I know an RV conversion
32:17it is it's a it's a monster it's a pillow top it's it's a it's I don't know what size
32:22this thing is
32:23but it's got to be 15 16 inches it's huge well I really appreciate you taking the time today
32:29to give us a tour before you're heading up to New York for the summer I love the fact that
32:34you pointed out that everybody's going to be different the way they camp and the way they
32:40use these and you have enough experience because you've had RVs before of how you use them so a lot
32:49of times people getting into this lifestyle think that they have to build it a certain way to cover all
32:54bases but if you're doing state national parks we're at a county park right now they have bathroom
33:00facility some of them have laundry this has electrical connection so you know you're almost
33:08100 percent dependent on shore power yeah yes absolutely we didn't see a shower inside here
33:13because you're using a shower facility there we didn't see a toilet here you do have an emergency
33:18toilet underneath I have a five gallon bucket under there just for emergency I've never used it but
33:22it's there if I need it but the bathroom here at this park is literally you know a few paces
33:27through
33:27this campsite right here and you're at the bathroom facility everyone you stay in you're close to the
33:32bathroom so yeah and some people don't want to be out in the middle of nowhere and adventure camp
33:38they want to be close to community close to cute cool things and they're going to use the state
33:42national parks I think this park is about 40 45 bucks a night oh I think it was 38 38
33:49maybe with tax it
33:50was about that but yeah they're all cheap and I have uh down in Florida I have uh I'm a
33:55veteran
33:56and so I get a veteran's discount that takes another 20 30 bucks off the total so yeah that
34:04helps a little bit you're going to be up in New York for the summer and up there and I'm
34:07sure it's
34:08going to be reasonable where you're staying as well and it's a really good inexpensive way to travel
34:14you're all in its investment on this is probably under 20 000 all in yeah probably about 18 18 20
34:20000
34:21dollars and you know you made sure it's mechanically sound because I did have an incident while you're
34:26on a turnpike or interstate because that could get expensive to get towed out of there and you know
34:32there's plenty of headroom I'm five feet nine and there's plenty of room above I think it's like six
34:36two ceiling height yeah that was important to me because I had a chevy van it's just a regular
34:42conventional uh chevy van and you're always on your knees always meant that so I wanted a high top
34:47and I didn't want to drive out to Arizona to go to fiber fiberine and have a put on so
34:53I got rid of
34:54it and then this was this came along well this is great I uh normally I put a link in
35:01the description
35:01for a YouTube channel or Instagram but you're not on social media you're just doing this because you
35:06watch the show and you got maybe some ideas from some of the viewers you just wanted to showcase your
35:11building I really appreciate you stopping through New Jersey if you find your way well this Patrick with
35:16New Jersey's outdoor adventures YouTube channel I'll see you next time
