00:00Ray, I'm so glad that I've finally got NME to interview you
00:03because I've always wanted to ask you about one of my favourite cult films
00:07which is the 1981 film, a very sort of NME-relevant, I think
00:11Ladies and Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stays
00:13in which you get to do one of probably the coolest roles ever
00:17you get to be in a band, a punk band called The Looters
00:20with members of The Clash and The Sex Pistons
00:22Yeah, there's Paul Cook, Steve Jones and Paul Seminole
00:26Yeah, yeah, yeah
00:26They're still mates there
00:27Yeah, but that must have been one of the coolest things
00:30Well, it was and it was really funny because when I was only a kid
00:33I'd only just got married
00:34and I was rehearsing this in Vancouver on a mic
00:37with a mic stand they gave me and the songs and all that kind of stuff
00:41and I went to my wife, you know, just married
00:43I said, I'm not a rock star, I can't do it
00:46and she went, no, you're not, you're an actor
00:50I went, oh yeah, right
00:53and that's the penny drop
00:54It took my wife to tell me, not a director or anyone like that
00:57My wife to tell me that
00:58and that was quite a moment
01:01because you can imagine, we were all young guys at the time
01:04and, you know, it was all anti this and anti that
01:07and, you know, this big punk kind of scene was going on
01:10and it was quite slow in Vancouver
01:12they were just finding punk, you know, in a way
01:15Yeah, yeah, yeah
01:16so we had this following and all that
01:18and we'd done gigs and all that kind of stuff
01:20so it was a big moment
01:21I remember coming back looking like a punk rocker
01:23and my dad went, are you sure?
01:27Anyway, it lasted about two weeks
01:28and I went back in the normal series and all that
01:30but, yeah
01:31but, yeah
01:31so, yeah
01:31so, yeah
