00:08Here at the Tallinn Defense Expo, more than a hundred companies are showing off their latest products.
00:13One theme stands out – drones. Unmanned systems are both a growing threat and an increasingly vital part of the
00:21defense arsenal.
00:23The Tallinn Defense Expo covers everything from high-tech weapons systems and ammunition to electronics, cyber defense and unmanned vehicles.
00:31Companies from Estonia and abroad are here to reach businesses and governments facing new threats.
00:37Drones have changed the face of war, most visibly in Russia's ongoing invasion of Ukraine.
00:43Estonia's Marduk Technologies presented a system that uses powerful optics and AI to find and identify flying objects.
00:51We are able to analyze the pixels, whatever is moving in the sky, analyze the flight pattern, if it moves
00:58like a bird or if it moves like a drone or any kind of other non-biological object.
01:04And then we are able to do the computer vision classifications, what kind of object it is, and then end
01:10-user can make the decisions.
01:17Another Estonian company, DevSec Intel, combines optical, radar, acoustic and radio frequency sensors in one mobile, highly autonomous system.
01:27Airsheet detection sensors, they will detect the drones, then operator will select which one to go after, and then they
01:36launch the interceptor drone, and then the hostile drones will be destroyed and they will not hit any infrastructure elements
01:44or do any harm for the civilians.
01:48Airsheet is open architecture, modular system, if there are new threats coming, so we can just add new effectors or
01:55new sensors to detect better.
01:59Unmanned vehicles can support or even replace soldiers on dangerous missions.
02:04Milrem Robotics presented its Themis Unmanned Ground Vehicle.
02:10The company says the technology enables an unmanned kill zone.
02:15Robotic vehicles would detect and push back invading troops, minimizing human casualties among the defenders.
02:28Milrem builds Themis and other unmanned vehicles at its factory in Tallinn.
02:34It has also opened a production line in the Netherlands, supplying vehicles to Ukraine and other countries.
02:42This modular platform can be fitted for different missions, from direct combat to reconnaissance, mine clearing, logistics and casualty evacuation.
02:58It's all about battlefield efficiency and also saving lives.
03:02I mean, you still have the conventional military forces and different units, but you don't need to send them on
03:08the battlefield where is the hottest spot.
03:10So instead of humans, you send the machines and machines do the work.
03:14The production capacity is not public information, but we are talking about hundreds of vehicles.
03:20And different sizes, we can take the production everywhere.
03:23So it's not complicated to set up the production and we can scale up quite rapidly.
03:29Valen Defence Expo is growing, gathering start-ups looking for investment and industry leaders seeking new markets.
03:36European security is an urgent concern and the Czech sector is moving fast to meet the demand.
