00:00It's sad because this is the thing that we have to talk about with every single
00:03one of these Valve hardware launches. Yeah, and I'm sick of talking about it. We've got the one
00:07terabyte model there but I will give the price first for the 256 gigabyte model because I do
00:11think you can get away with that. 1059 US dollars, that's 889 pounds or 1609 Australian and the one
00:21terabyte model is 1299 USD. I actually think that's sort of loosely where I was thinking it
00:27was. It's definitely high and compared to the Quest which does a lot of this stuff, it's nearly
00:32double for half the storage. It's actually, it is double, well it's a bit over double the price for
00:37one terabyte, so roughly double the storage. Twice the memory, twice the storage and you're talking
00:42twice the price. But for otherwise pretty similar hardware. I think there's one quality that
00:49slightly makes me more positive on it and this has grown on me the more I've used it with the
00:53tracking and stuff. I think the price is a tough pill to swallow but as somebody who is trying to
00:57get rid of Meta from my life, the Quest is the only thing I have that is Meta. I don't
01:01want to sign up
01:02to their stuff but I still have a Meta account because I've used Meta Quest. It is tough to beat
01:05Meta when they're spending billions on Reality Labs every quarter and I don't know if anyone can
01:10outspend them on it. I don't know if anyone's willing to take the loss on it. I think if you're
01:13an
01:13extreme VR head, you know somebody's really into it, you might have a really good time with this but
01:17also if you bought it as an upgrade from a Quest 3, I think you're going to go,
01:20that kind of feels quite similar to the one I've already been using for the past X amount of years.
01:24That's my concern here. It's like if you are a real VR head, you've already gone there. You've
01:29played all these games, you've had an experience which is more or less exactly the same as this.
01:34What are you getting for spending another $1,200 on your Steam frame over your Index and then
01:43your Quest 3? Maybe a Quest 3 and also would you want to get a Pimax? I've been using that
01:47Dream Air
01:48and while I think the tracking wasn't anywhere up to par with the Quest 3 or the Steam frame,
01:52the visual fidelity of that was amazing. I wrote actually in my review, it's the one time I've
01:59said wow out loud after putting a VR headset on since the first time I ever put a VR headset
02:02on.
02:03If you really want a big upgrade, but it's not an upgrade in every sense and that's why it's
02:07difficult. I do think it's an all-round VR headset. If you don't have a Quest 3 and you're into
02:10VR and you
02:11still somehow have avoided buying a Quest 3 up to this point, easy choice. It's definitely a more PC gaming
02:16choice.
