00:09advertising through traditional media. Our correspondent in Brazil, Brian Murray Journal
00:14in Sao Paulo, is coming live to explain how these days is unfolding. Welcome, Brian, to From the South.
00:23Hi, thanks for having me. Well, it's the last day that candidates can officially run
00:30their campaign commercials. The Brazilian federal government, according to the constitution,
00:36it allocates official campaign commercial time for all of the candidates, and parties receive airtime
00:44that corresponds to the number of members of parliament they've elected. So the small parties,
00:50Brazil has over 29, around 29 political parties. The small parties that don't have anyone elected,
00:55they still get a few seconds, 15 seconds, 20 seconds of airtime to help even out the playing field.
01:03This period ends tonight. And for the next few days, there's going to be a lot of furious accusations
01:10going back and forth between all the candidates in a last ditch effort to win over undecided voters,
01:17because the polls are very close right now. And today, the main story that began viralizing
01:25was based on a Guardian article, which shows that the Trump administration has spent a million dollars
01:32to finance a campaign attacking Brazil's Supreme Court and delegitimizing the Supreme Court.
01:38this many analysts believe in a maneuver so that if Flavio Bolsonaro is not elected, Donald Trump can claim
01:46that it was because of dishonest electoral court system. And this was looking like it was going to be
01:56the biggest story on the lunchtime news hour. But the conservative media immediately bumped it off of the top
02:02billing with video of Javier Mele calling Lula a thief. And this is the type of thing we've been seeing
02:09all campaign season. Whenever a scandal breaks out involving Flavio Bolsonaro or the Bolsonaro
02:16coalition or his allies, immediately actors in the mainstream media respond with a kind of
02:22counter story or counter scandal to remove it from the headlines.
02:26So with only three days left until the election, it's beginning to get pretty tense. There was a big
02:32campaign rally for Lula and Fernando Haddad, the gubernatorial candidate for PT,
02:38marked on Avenida Paulista, which you can see behind me right now, for Saturday. And the conservative
02:43Bolsonaro aligned mayor just canceled its permit. So we don't know where that rally is going to be held
02:50yet either. But as you can see, powerful forces are working at this moment to try and favor the
