00:16Welcome back. From the health center set up by the communal organization to the classrooms that honor our ancestral heritage,
00:22in Venezuela on the move, we take a closer look at the communes in eastern Venezuela to learn about the
00:27project's initiative from the very basis.
00:30Let's take a look.
00:34On the north coast of Anzuategui State, we arrived in Puerto Piritu to visit the indigenous commune altogether for San
00:42Antonio.
00:55An ancient organization that, through popular referendums, a mechanism of direct democracy, funded the establishment of its type 2 popular
01:05health clinic, ensuring the health of its communes.
01:15We really do have a CPT2 here, where we have a very, very nice environment for welcoming our patients from
01:21various communes who visit us.
01:23Here we offer orthodontics, general medicine. In fact, these free clinics have helped our commune a lot because they are
01:30designed to promote the well-being of the people.
01:38The consultation has been up and running for several months now. It was an achievement by our own commune, which
01:43supported us and came out to vote for our outpatient clinic, because it benefits everyone.
01:47We've achieved many things that weren't possible before, and right now we're putting it to good use, just as it
01:53should be.
01:58Medical care continues at the outpatient clinic, thanks to the funds allocated by the popular vote.
02:04For me, it has been very satisfying in that sense, because now we have an electrocardiogram machine, and we can
02:12perform the test immediately on patients who qualify and need it at that moment.
02:16And we have an oxygen tank, plus we've added a portable oxygen tank to our services. It's small and portable,
02:22so it can be taken along when a transport is necessary, if the ambulance doesn't have that capability.
02:31Just ten kilometers away, we travel along the road toward Las Lomas, a settlement of the Cumanigoto people,
02:42where ancient magic welcomes the new school year within this facility, built by the communal organization to house the classrooms
02:49for 29 indigenous children.
02:59Ancestral invocations set the pace for the communal.
03:09The wisdom of the ancestors harmonizes the earth's energy and protects families' harvests.
03:15I realized in this very moment that they have a crop of eggplants over there, and that it is Mother
03:24Earth who is nurturing it, together with the rain that has fallen these past few days.
03:29So it is this blessing that my Heavenly Father is giving us.
03:35This blessing is not simply for the structure, but for all of nature that surrounds us.
03:42Built following a public consultation, the new school building made it possible to increase enrollment and bring new teachers into
03:49the classroom.
03:52We used to have a small school here in the commune. It was on private property. Now we've managed to
03:58move it, as they say here, to the public sector, facing the national highway.
04:03It's a big change because it's more spacious. We're going to have new teachers. Previously, we had only one.
04:10It has more classrooms and better facilities, and it allows for greater student integration.
04:15Previously, there were nine children enrolled. Now there are 29. It's going to be a leader from preschool through sixth
04:21grade.
04:27The new land not only benefits the classrooms, but also creates space for school-based agricultural development, where teachers and
04:35students are promoting the cultivation of eggplants and other crops for their own consumption.
04:42In the municipality of Piratú, there are 26 settlements of the Cumanigoto people, ancestral communes that, with the 1999 constitutional
04:52recognition, the 2005 Indigenous Peoples Act, and their integration into the communal councils in 2006, have consolidated their self-governance
05:03and the development of their own territories.
05:11In Argentina, the opposition in Congress unifies its positions and calls...
