00:09welcome back to from the south and now let's go back to Brazil in the midst of election day and
00:15we are going to do so with a very special guest Eduardo Moreira the founder of Institute of
00:21knowledge and freedom and also the largest independent journalism channel on YouTube in
00:28Brazil also he is an engineer writer and presenter he was also an investment banker so welcome
00:37Eduardo to from the south hello it's a pleasure to be here with you and try to give my contribution
00:45to this very important day in Brazil so I thought but the polling stations have closed nationwide are
00:52there key states that are going to be impacting stronger the results the outcome of this election
00:58also how do you think the largest electoral districts are going to be as well going to impact
01:05today's outcome well I think there are many things happening today that will have a relevant impact
01:15on the final result for instance if you look now at the numbers we already have you can see that
01:23the
01:24number of people that didn't went didn't go to vote on the northeast states is much lower of course in
01:35percentage terms then then in the south of Brazil about three to four percent lower in the northeast than in
01:45the south of Brazil and in the northeast of Brazil is where you have a greater advantage of the president
01:54Lula in respect to his
01:57opponent Flávio Bolsonaro another thing which is very important for us to understand is that on these states in the
02:10south and the
02:11southeast of Brazil you have many of them where the election was uh basically decided uh with a winner that
02:21will will not uh have uh an opponent that could pose any threat so when that happens people get uh
02:31less uh they get less motivated to go out uh and vote when people look at the results
02:39right now you see Flávio Bolsonaro uh with a little uh above 50 percent uh people should not be scared
02:49with these results
02:50first because the the first results come from uh states uh like in the previous election where uh Bolsonaro has
03:01a much uh larger uh voter base
03:04than Lula for instance uh than Lula for instance Paraná Tocantins uh uh which are the states with the greater
03:11percentage that has already been uh uh counted uh and reported uh and also the the capitals from the states
03:21uh come
03:22much uh earlier than the the places in on the interior uh so uh as the day goes through we
03:32should see uh an increase in the
03:34percentage of the percentage of votes of Lula and a decrease on of the percentage of votes of Flávio Bolsonaro
03:41like we had on the previous election
03:44uh my guess and of course we're on the the the beginning of the the counting of the results but
03:51my guess is that we'll have by uh not a a a large margin but by a small margin like
03:59two to four percent uh Presidente Lula in front of Flávio Bolsonaro
04:05uh that uh that uh Flávio Bolsonaro uh number of votes should be lower than Lula after uh about like
04:1560 to
04:1670 percent of the votes uh being counted.
04:20uh uh being counted.
04:21Uh so uh that should happen over uh over the next couple of hours.
04:26Over the next couple of hours we should still two to three hours which you still have Flávio Bolsonaro in
04:32front of Lula
04:33And then from that on, we should have Lula.
04:37And I can basically assure with the results we had so far that we will have a second round in
04:45Brazil.
04:45Why I can assure that?
04:47Because the number of votes, the percentage of votes to the other candidates like Augusto Cury, Renan Santos and Caiado,
04:58basically these three.
04:59Zema has a very small, but they haven't counted almost no votes from Minas Gerais where he gets most of
05:08his votes, where he's the governor now.
05:09But the percentage of votes of those other candidates, it's adding to about 8%.
05:16And with that being said, it's almost impossible to have this election resolved on the first round.
05:26So I can assure you that that we will have a second round in Brazil.
05:32Thank you. Thank you, Eduardo.
05:34As you said, we are in a very early stage of the count, but we are going to remain attentive.
05:40And also we are thankful for your analysis.
05:43Also to deeper understand what is happening at this moment in Brazil and the impact that is going to have
05:47on the nation and also in Latin America.
05:49Thank you for your time here from the South.
05:52Okay. Bye-bye.
05:54Bye.
05:55Now we are going...
05:56Bye-bye.
05:56Bye-bye.
05:56Bye.
