00:00Let's now continue with the analysis on this key electoral date and for that we welcome
00:04to From the South Ali Ahi-Halad, a correspondent for Ahmad Yadin TV. Welcome Ali here to From
00:10the South. Thank you for your time and for being here with us.
00:17Hello Luis, thanks for having me. It's always a pleasure being with Telesur.
00:22A pleasure as well. Ali, the very first question that comes to mind,
00:27we have seen throughout the electoral process and we have seen the previous president before Lula
00:34Silva with Flavio Bolsonaro's father and now we have Lula and Flavio Bolsonaro, the son of Jair
00:42Bolsonaro. So in turning into a context, thinking about the Middle East, especially the situation
00:47in Palestine and the ongoing genocide, there are two opposing, let's say, foreign policy. We have
00:54one side that supports the pro-Israeli situation on the Flavio and his father and then we have Lula
01:02who has continually condemned the genocide and expressed support for Palestinian rights as we
01:06just saw in his speech at the UN General Assembly earlier last month in late September.
01:16Sorry. So how will this election all impact that situation in the Middle East and the ongoing
01:22relationship in terms of policy between Brazil and Palestine?
01:29I think that's the most important thing. As you said, Luis, the Palestinian cause,
01:36because in Palestine and in all Arab countries in the Middle East, they only look at Brazil,
01:43Colombia, Venezuela, Chile, Bolivia. It depends on their opinion and the statement of the Palestinian cause.
01:53We saw what happened lately in Colombia from a country with the government of Gustavo Petro pushing
02:03and suing Israel and suing Israel in the courts to a country with Abelardo de la Espriella,
02:13with close ties with Israel. And the most important things that all these right-fire wings in Latin America,
02:22once they are winning, the first things they are doing is moving their embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
02:32Al Quds. And this is really dangerous because they are not only leaving the Palestinian cause,
02:41they are cheering for a genocide. And in Brazil, we know what Bolsonaro did, the father Jair Bolsonaro,
02:49during 2018 and 2022. And we also know very, very well what Lula da Silva did from 2002 to 2006,
03:01then the second mandatory to 2006, 2010, and last one from 2022 to 2026. Like he was calling every
03:12single time, every week, what is happening in Palestine as a genocide. And that's what affects the
03:19relations between Israel and Brazil. But Lula was really backing the Palestinian cause. And as an Arab,
03:32and as a journalist, and following politics here in Latin America, and also in the Arab world,
03:40they only look about these elections, they think if Lula wins, he will keep standing with their cause,
03:52with the Palestinian cause. The foreign policy will remain like in the world stage, we are talking in the UN
03:59country and the national security council, the American assembly and security council. And Brazil is not a normal country.
04:07It's a very big country. And the vote of Brazil at the global stage is very important standing with
04:15Palestine, with the Palestine people, with Gaza, sending every kind of aids for the Palestinian
04:26children and receiving a lot of Palestinians. Here in Brazil, there's a lot of Palestinians,
04:33a huge community also. So it's really different if Lula da Silva wins this election and Bolsonaro
04:43wins this election. I've been with a gathering for Bolsonaro. First thing you can see over there
04:52is the Israel flag. Here in Sao Paulo, two days ago in Rio de Janeiro, first thing you can see
05:01is the
05:01Israel flag. And we don't forget one important thing that Benjamin Netanyahu, when Bolsonaro
05:09started his campaign, he sends a message, Netanyahu, to Bolsonaro, sending his love and his help and
05:18looking forward to moving forward the relations between Brazil and reestablishment of the relations
05:28after the foreign policy of Brazil said that there is a genocide committing by Netanyahu's government.
05:35Now Netanyahu is pushing so hard to make Brazil like Colombia, like Bolivia, like Chile, like Ecuador
05:43and like Peru. Ali, as you were saying, Brazil is a very important country for South-South cooperation.
05:52And we have seen the authorities of Brazil, the President Lula himself, they have continued to
05:58denounce the increase and the spending of millions in US plans to interfere in the electoral process
06:04to try to benefit their own candidate to continue to advance their hegemony in the area. So in this scenario,
06:13what's the perspective? What can be foreseen if the hold on the region is strengthened with the advancement of imperialism?
06:25To be honest, it's who believes that there's no interfering like from the US in this election. It's it's so
06:34silly or naive to to believe that Donald Trump yesterday,
06:38like when they asked him about the election, said we are looking very close the the Brazilian elections. We heard
06:46a lot about reports saying that the United States are paying the
06:51millions of millions of millions of millions of millions of millions of millions of dollars to
06:55to to to shake the system of Brazil to to be against Lula da Silva's governments to to stand by
07:04Bolsonaro and Eduardo Bolsonaro.
07:07We all know that the relation between the family of Bolsonaro and the United States. And now I think Brazil,
07:15as I said, it's a really important
07:19country in Latin America and in the world. That's why I think that if we look about the south south
07:27global relationships,
07:29and if we come back to the Arab and Middle East country, they are really interested of the backing of
07:37of Brazil against anti imperialism, because they are looking for self determination and
07:42and and like groups, they are really interested in these countries to to be part of group like BRICS because
07:50this group is really gave them a lot of more independence and more of freedom and more of sovereignty, because
08:00the leader of this of this group, along with China, Russia and Brazil,
08:06Brazil, stabilizes the trade. And they are, still it's not a normal countries and this will facilitate
08:12big time the the trade economics, and I think it's a great part from this perspective to to face the
08:23imperialism.
08:25And all this is in in like like now playing in the elections, because if Lula da Silva wins, it's
08:34something.
08:35but if Bolsonaro wins, it's something else, absolutely.
08:39Thank you, Ali, for your time here and your inputs from the South.
08:49Thank you to you.
