03:20is uh the baseball playoffs continuing on here uh omar what uh what is going on in atlanta man all

03:28sudden michael penix comes in and they turn in you know from one of the worst teams out there to
03:34uh to
03:34an offense that's uh let's put up seven touchdowns a game remember that they started the season with
03:40their number three quarterback after two hurt his back uh leading into the opener um penix is back
03:48and and it's amazing what happens when you have quarterback competition and and guys have to
03:53elevate their level of play elevate the level of preparation and seize the opportunity and that's
03:59what michael penix is seemingly doing i yeah but i mean omar would you really call that a
04:04competition like who is he competing with over there to a tongue of a law to have spent probably
04:09the entire offseason as the starting quarterback the number one quarterback uh they they they love
04:15we spent the last time he practiced rolling around on the ground so i don't know that i'd call like
04:21he's the last man standing and i mean cooper rush sucks so he's like the last competent player standing
04:27they were absolutely in love with some backup from from the exhibition season i can't remember which one
04:33it was i don't think it was cooper rush but the guy they started right during the yeah yeah yeah
04:38season so i don't know i the way i look at is he's a guy who's last man standing that

04:44competent player so um they've got a ton of weapons pushing i feel like that was a swipe at the

04:51perhaps um as far as quarterback competition goes we'll get into this thing by the way i thought about
04:57this for a while yesterday after you came on and you you dropped your bombs and and walked away and
05:03i thought about this for a while omar and joe and i kind of came to this conclusion at the
05:08end of the
05:08show and i was thinking about this more yesterday i think this is this situation regardless of how good
05:15malik willis looks the rest of the way and he's not going to look elite the rest of this way

05:20that's just not it's just not realistic because of his built-in excuses no because of what he's
05:26surrounded with i don't think you're going to end this season and be like wow this guy is a top

06:02the quarterback position they're the can't miss prospect the dolphins are going to take this guy
06:07right i there's no way that they are going to pass if if arch let's say it's arch manning and

06:14know you look at arch manning or like this guy is andrew luck like there is no on this guy

06:35finish their college career and they've said this and they've vocalized it um you don't get a chance to

06:48have attended
06:48college uh you know most of the time it's probably our best time of our lives and you know you
06:54want to
06:54you really wish to relive it again so the man needs to take that seriously and and number three i

07:01said two but three he's making six million dollars a year in college already what's the rush to come out
07:07into the nfl uh you know thing about mensa like i here's the thing though i'm just trying to throw
07:14a warm body in that position just as an example i don't i'm not ready to like you know we

07:19four weeks five weeks of college football season yes i'm not ready to like crown some guy the number
07:26one because no one has jumped out to me like watching these guys play no one has jumped out off
07:32the pages like jeremiah smith good right jeremiah smith is the best college football player in the
07:39country right now i think that's probably pretty clear yeah like think of anyone that's better
07:45omar and then you know you can say malachi tony if you want but i was gonna say that's not

07:55for our purposes now uh jeremiah smith is definitely a you talk about a can't miss i mean i i

08:01scenario where he's an nfl bust but i was just using you know arch manning as the as the placeholder

08:14you use mensa as your placeholder example because i think he's right now a better quarterback than
08:19arch manning all right we can use dan day is coming out to be quarterback we're using just a
08:24quarterback but i but my point is this omar and i i don't know if you agree with me or

08:28i i just think if the dolphins if there is a quarterback or you know that is available and
08:34the dolphins end up with the number one pick which it appears they're going to be certainly
08:38in that conversation uh the titans may give them a run for their money but they are they're going to
08:45be in that conversation and should the number one pick be one of these quarterbacks if it's the
08:50heisman trophy winning you know you know mendoza type quarterback absolutely do you take the stab
08:56and i mean i think the answer is obviously yes there's no question in my mind that the answer
09:02needs to be yes because this franchise has done one thing consistently for the last 26 years
09:08and it's led to their era of mediocrity and the ride on the mediocrity merry ground which is
09:14they never make quarterbacks compete and that's to me a shame disappointing and it's time for that
09:23era to end from this standpoint uh malik willis hasn't done anything to establish him or prove
09:31he's an nfl starting quarterback and i'm not going to blame the weaponry around him or the offensive
09:37line i'm sorry his play has not been good enough so far this season and i'm not and i'm one
09:44of the
09:44individuals that believes he has the tools um i wrote two columns not one but two columns
09:50before the season began of i don't want these excuses about why we can't properly evaluate him
09:58i don't care you chose to do this you chose to build this team this way you chose to ensure

10:05he didn't have a veteran receiver okay now you gotta you're gonna have to live with it and i'm not
10:12going to use this as an excuse for saying oh we should draft the quarterback i believe that
10:17no matter what no matter who i believe mick league willis should be competing for the starting spot
10:23next year well i mean i think uh he's certainly going to be here omar and look i i we

10:29to yesterday like worst case scenario you got a really good backup right if if it doesn't work out
10:35to the point where you know you feel like you you feel good with him as your starter moving forward
10:40you at the very least have a a competent backup and we have seen a lot of backups already uh

10:47throughout the league and this the season's just getting going man we're like what not even a quarter
10:52of the way uh through this thing and uh guys are dropping like flies speaking of dropping as they always
10:59do as they yeah it seems like every year we're saying this at some point but and then we're getting
11:05our feelings about when patrick mahomes gets protected by calls like he's worth a billion
11:10dollars to this league of course they're going to protect him with calls yeah i mean i don't i i

11:17this you know patrick mahomes situation i happen to be a patrick mahomes fan so i do like to see

11:21play if uh if possible um speaking of injuries omar the uh bangles dealing with uh a whole slew of
11:29injuries right now and they're two wide receivers may not go on uh on sunday and you know the dolphins
11:36have been dolphins have been flirting with a w here for the last uh last couple of weeks um this

11:42may be the opportunity you know it's going to be a a hot environment out there and it it just

11:49be the perfect storm here you talk about you know guys that are going to be missing from that lineup
11:54talk about the weather down here it just seems like the perfect storm for this team to finally get one
11:59we we keep saying that same we said the same thing about minnesota without uh justin jefferson
12:05i don't think anyone said that by the way i don't think anyone was picking the dolphins to go up

12:09and win i i don't i did not know one person that picked the dolphins go i actually did um

12:15personally i picked the dolphins to win yeah uh it's that's why you don't bet omar
12:22they are they are not a bad team they're not a deep team but right now injuries hasn't decimated
12:29this team in fact they're probably going to get reinforcements back and caleb douglas
12:32and then uh kenneth grant is is finally going to get unleashed to this team and and hopefully he
12:38looks like a first round pick they're not they're not that far off from being good not good from being
12:46respectable i just think that they have to stop beating themselves and the last two weeks i would
12:51argue to you that they didn't get beat by their opponent they beat themselves and if you look at the
12:57errors and the mistakes uh that's that's what you that's what you saw they they beat themselves
13:03against the minnesota vikings yes the vikings should have scored at the end of the game and
13:08you know that probably needs to be investigated a little bit because i i that was stupid i mean
13:14taking a knee at the two yard line and and not going up by two in the final two minutes

15:03game coming up this weekend we keep having we these winnable games and then and then they keep
15:08shooting themselves in the foot which and here's my issue with this whole season do people want them
15:13to win or do we want them to lose see nobody has an nobody has an answer for me on
15:20this i want wins
15:21i want wins i mean yeah there obviously losing is probably more advantageous but i do want them to
15:30you know change the culture of this franchise as well you can't have it both ways that's my problem

16:33don't certainly are not going to let you know they need to investigate that as well because
16:37betters are betters are important sports gambling when did you turn into this like betting police guy

16:56called for two investigations i i i just believe injuries are a significant factor and contributor to
