Trinidad and Tobago has joined with Guyana, the United States, Canada and other countries in condemning what they claim are proxy-sponsored lethal plotting, illicit fundraising and political interference by Iran.

00:00The U.S. State Department said the undesigned nations, led by the governments of the United States of America, Argentina,
00:07Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, and Trinidad and Tobago, quote,
00:15condemned the terrorist actions and other malign influence operations in our hemisphere by Iran and its terrorist proxies, end quote.
00:23The State Department said these hostile efforts include a range of Iranian and proxy-sponsored lethal plotting, illicit fundraising, political
00:33interference and foreign influence activities,
00:35and operations meant to bolster terrorist networks, curse perceived enemies, compromise legal or administrative processes, and harm regional security.
00:45According to international media reports, Iran has repeatedly rejected U.S. accusations regarding its regional and international activities.
00:54The State Department noted that the condemnation issued on October 5th by the U.S., Argentina, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica,
01:01Dominican Republic, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, and Trinidad and Tobago declared,
01:05quote, quote, we stand united in our determination to protect our countries and our people against such threats.
01:12The Zamek Republic of Iran and its proxies must halt these actions now, end quote.
01:18The State Department added that the undersigned nations, including Trinidad and Tobago, commend the work of countries within our region
01:25to counter what they call these malign Iranian activities,
01:30including lethal plotting, and are together resolved to undertake further measures to halt them and pledge to enhance our coordination
01:38and cooperation to address this threat.
01:41On October 1st, the governments of the United States of America, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador,
01:49El Salvador, Guyana, Honduras, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, and Trinidad and Tobago
01:54issued a separate statement commending the government of Bolivia for its decisive actions to confront narco-trafficking, tackle corruption, and
02:03hold enablers accountable.
02:05Most of these countries belong to the Shield of the Americas, which is a U.S.-led multinational security alliance formed
02:12earlier this year in 2026 to combat transnational organized crime, especially drug cartels.
