00:00Former Minister of Foreign and Caricom Affairs, Amory Brown, is taking issues with Trinidad and Tobago's abstention at a United
00:07Nations vote on a resolution on the International Criminal Court.
00:11Dominic Ramroop has the details.
00:14Trinidad and Tobago's abstention from a UN resolution on the International Criminal Court yesterday breaks a two-decade record of
00:21support for an institution whose creation was championed by former Prime Minister Arthur N.R. Robinson.
00:26Today, former Minister of Foreign and Caricom Affairs, Amory Brown, levelled scathing criticism against the Prime Minister, Kamala Posad-Bissessa,
00:34and current Foreign Affairs Minister, Sean Sobers.
00:37Under this UNC regime, Trinidad and Tobago has gone from co-sponsoring such resolutions in the past to now turning
00:47our back on the ICC.
00:49This is another example of the Prime Minister's discipleship in fascism, which has led to a national position that conflicts
00:59with international law and with the UN Charter.
01:03It is a devaluation of the work and legacy of A.N.R. Robinson, a son of Tobago and Trinidad
01:14and Tobago, who was the primary inspiration for the formation of the International Criminal Court,
01:21which seeks to bring to justice individual perpetrators of the worst crimes against humanity and other terrible atrocities.
01:31Brown referred to the abstention as a cowardly move and, quote, furtive subservience to a foreign agenda, end quote.
01:38The abstention in the vote on Monday, 2nd, November, 2026 marks the unprincipled cowardice of the current UNC Cabinet,
01:49which brings shame to Trinidad and Tobago on the international stage.
01:54And it's an embarrassment to the diplomacy and standards for which this nation was once well regarded and respected.
