00:00But I thought our guys showed a lot of maturity.
00:03Just keep playing and keep playing the game the right way.
00:06That is Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff following the Sabres 3-2 overtime win over the Minnesota Wild.
00:14Talking about the inconsistent refereeing that was occurring last night.
00:20And the call on Krebs followed up by the miss on McCrimmon is terrible.
00:27Or McCarron, not McCrimmon.
00:29McCarron is terrible.
00:31But I don't really care about that.
00:33They won the game.
00:34What I want to talk about is the growth.
00:37That is the word for me today.
00:39It's growth.
00:40Well, that sounds like a fun conversation.
00:42Let's do it.
00:43That's a fun, happy, positive Sabres 2-1 that won back-to-back comeback games.
00:48Comeback wins.
00:48At home, in the arena, in front of the home crowd.
00:51Super, super exciting.
00:53I thought last night was by far the best 60 minutes they put together.
00:5665 or 64 and a half, whatever.
00:59They scored with about 30 seconds left.
01:00If you call it 60, nobody's going to get mad.
01:02Yeah.
01:03I get in my own way.
01:05Or you know what?
01:0560 plus.
01:0660 plus.
01:07There we go.
01:08I like that.
01:08So, I wanted to, I think that they have shown already, and really last year too they showed this, but
01:17it's good to see that it's carried over.
01:18Growth in maturity, in their ability to play winning hockey.
01:23And the first place that that comes to mind for me last night is what Lindy's talking about there.
01:29It's the frustration that can very easily creep in and take over the emotions you've got about a game when
01:37you get something like that that happens.
01:39So, if you weren't watching, just to briefly sort of explain the sequence of events.
01:45Late, not late, in the second period, Peyton Krebs gets called for interference because he's trying to jump back on
01:52sides and he ends up taking out one of the wild players.
01:55Two minutes interference to the box.
01:58The wild score on that power play.
02:00Right?
02:01That's done.
02:02About a minute and a half later, the Sabres dump the puck in.
02:07Quinn Hughes goes to retrieve a puck, gets it.
02:10There is a Sabre player, Josh Norris, is pursuing him and gets, I mean, just hit, body checked, into the
02:17wall by a Minnesota wild player.
02:19A much more egregious offense than the Krebs call.
02:24Nothing.
02:25And along the same line.
02:26Along the same.
02:26It's the same call.
02:27It's not like interference here and hooking.
02:29No.
02:29No, this is the same thing we're calling this tonight.
02:31It is as clear a consistency question as you could ever have for a referee.
02:38Yeah, yeah, yeah.
02:38That was it, and they failed the test because it was right next to the puck, the same way that
02:43Krebs' penalty was, and we got nothing.
02:46No arm in the air, no nothing.
02:48Quinn Hughes takes it up, turns it up, ends up undressing Tage Thompson.
02:53He gets the puck over to one of his teammates.
02:56He scores 2-0 wild on a Krebs penalty for interference and then a non-call that leads to a
03:02goal the other way.
03:03It's a tough start.
03:04That's tough.
03:05That is tough.
03:06As a player, as a former player that played at, you know, a pretty high level, I'll tell you right
03:12now, if I was in net and that happened to me, I'd be mad.
03:15And I'd be thinking about it.
03:17And I might be yelling about it to the referee.
03:19Mad goalies are probably bad, right?
03:20Never good.
03:21Never good to be a mad goalie.
03:22You want calm.
03:23People are all crazy.
03:24You're less crazy than most goalies.
03:26Are you crazier in hockey?
03:27I get that a lot.
03:27I was crazy in hockey.
03:29But I was sociably, like, the least crazy.
03:32I got that comment very often.
03:34It was like, you're a very normal person to be a goalie.
03:36And I don't even know that I really agree.
03:38Like, I assume goalies don't have friends, but you have friends.
03:41Yeah, I suppose.
03:42You get along with, well, oh, and everybody likes you.
03:44You get along with everybody.
03:46Yeah, that's true.
03:47Marty Buran.
03:48Everybody got along with Marty Buran.
03:49Yeah.
03:49As opposed to, like, Pashik.
03:51Right.
03:52Very different.
03:53Maybe the super high end.
03:54Maybe you weren't crazy enough.
03:56Maybe you're playing in the NHL right now if you were insane.
04:00I think that's definitely right because I would have not cared that my brain was going to
04:03look at my ears.
04:04I'm just going to keep playing.
04:05You know, I'm just going to keep going.
04:06Right.
04:06But I did because I'm normal.
04:09So that happens.
04:10And that's a very easy thing that can set you off into a sort of a dark corner where you're
04:16just like, we got screwed.
04:18One of these nights, this sucks.
04:20I guess we'll get them next time.
04:21Right.
04:21And you can, or you can go like, and all you were focusing on is yelling at the referees
04:26or whatever.
04:27It's a very easy pit to fall into.
04:29And the Sabres did not do that.
04:32They clawed their way back and played a really, really impressive third period for everybody.
04:39From the players, I loved what Lindy did with the Lions and the D pairs in the third, and
04:45they pushed through that and they let it roll right off of them.
04:50And that, to me, is really, really encouraging to see.
04:55And that is growth.
04:57And that is winning hockey.
04:58That is how you stay even-keeled in a situation where you are very susceptible to being thrown
05:06off and to be taken out of the rest of that hockey game last night.
05:11And that tells me a lot of good things about the leadership on that team, which we had questions
05:16about after Alex Tuck left.
05:18Sure.
05:18Right?
05:19And it tells me good things, obviously, about the coaching.
05:21Not that we need to know that much more about the coaching, but like Lindy Ruff's awesome.
05:25And I think that was underscored last night because of this.
05:28And that's just one of, I mean, I could do the rest of this show with you doing a segment
05:34on each different department I think they've shown growth in.
05:36And that's my first one.
05:38Well, okay, Tuck's gone, but the vast majority of players on this roster participated in a
05:43season where they won a playoff series last year.
05:45So that's validation for everything that Lindy Ruff has brought to the table in his first
05:50two years and now into his third in his return as the Sabres head coach.
05:55We, as fans, see Lindy Ruff come in and have a tremendous amount of respect for what he did
05:59back in the day, but it takes time to earn that with the team.
06:02And I think last year with him as a candidate and, you know, some might say an upset loser
06:10for the Jack Adams trophy, this is a guy, he's been around.
06:16And if you shut up and listen to him, you can find your way out of two nothing after two.
06:21If you just put whatever happened in the first 40 behind you and like, go win this period
06:27by two is all you need.
06:29Then we got to win a five minute period by one.
06:31And if that doesn't work, you go to a shootout.
06:32We got our point anyway.
06:34All of that is on the table.
06:37And the, I said this right at the start of the show, when Tim was here, all I'm looking
06:42for at the start of this season is for the Sabres to not put themselves in a hole.
06:48They very easily could be sitting at 0-3 right now.
06:51I think, well, you tell me, they played three games.
06:54Who was the better team in each of them?
06:56I think Columbus was better than they were in the first.
06:59I think they were better than Chicago in the second.
07:02And it took a while to get there, but they came back and won that thing.
07:05You tell me who was the better team last night.
07:07The Sabres.
07:08The Sabres are the better team.
07:09So they've been the better team twice and it's gotten them two points in each of those
07:12efforts.
07:12So the night that they weren't the better team, they lost.
07:15It's all correct as of right now.
07:17It doesn't always happen in hockey.
07:18It's a fluky game with a lot of bounces and breaks and all that stuff, but they've been better
07:23than the other team twice.
07:24They've got four points to show for it.
07:26They were worse than the other team once and still kind of were, I know it ends up being
07:30a blowout score of 6-3.
07:32They were still kind of in it.
07:33And, you know, if the power play works a little bit after our man gets popped in the face a
07:38hundred times and that's a, you know, maybe that's a different story too.
07:42So that was a frustrating night to start the season.
07:44Like, oh no, are we here again?
07:46No, we're not.
07:46That's the declaration that's made by the two games that they win.
07:50And also winning in front of the home crowd to me does a lot to rally your fan base around
07:56you.
07:56People don't feel like they're wasting hundreds of dollars to come to your arena anymore because
08:01it's cool to win on the road.
08:03That's nice.
08:03That's on television.
08:04If I plunk down the money and I pay for parking and my beer costs $18 and all the stuff
08:10that
08:10comes with it, I'd like to see a win sometimes.
08:13I'd like to hear the goal horn, you know, I've said this a few times.
08:17My oldest son is 14 years old.
08:19He's only been to a handful of games, but he's never heard the goal horn.
08:22I took my kid the other night.
08:23He got the goal horn.
08:24One, two, three Sabres win.
08:26Like that was awesome.
08:28And winning at home does a lot too.
08:29So I think all of it is combining to go, yeah, Tuck's not here.
08:35I'm wondering how long we have to talk about Tuck not being here before that just, it's
08:38like, yeah, a lot of people aren't here.
08:40I, yeah, I think that that's a, that's a great question because I think that it really
08:45depends on how the team is doing and it's, it's likely going to be after losses, you'll
08:50think about them after wins you want.
08:52And that'll probably be the rest of the year is that you'll, you'll, you'll think about
08:55after a loss, like, man, what could they use?
08:58Oh, probably Alex Tuck.
09:00And I'd like to not think about it.
09:01I'd like to not think about it until about trade deadline time.
09:03We're like, what can we do to replace what Tuck was at the end of the year last year?
09:07And for a good chunk of the playoffs anyway.
09:08Right.
09:09Right.
09:09Yeah.
09:09Right.
09:10Uh, I, I think that that's a great question.
09:12I think it's going to take time to, to get to that place, but I was just, I really am
09:18encouraged by that.
09:19And the other thing is that these seasons, we know they're long, it's 84 games now.
09:24Like this is a, it's a grind, but early on, if you can prove to yourself, uh, twice now
09:32already in three games that you can, you can overcome adversity.
09:37You can get through a challenge, you can get through a challenge, you can have something
09:42thrown at you that you might not even feel as fair in a game.
09:45Right.
09:45And you can still win despite that.
09:48And you can come back from down to, and you can find a way to do all of that.
09:53That is a really big boost heading into the rest of your season.
09:58And if you can prove that to yourself and to your fans and to your opposition early on,
10:04that puts you ahead of the eight ball.
10:06And I think that that's valuable in what they've done already through three games.
10:11Like Columbus, like we said, that was not a great start for them.
10:13It was leaky, but then I thought they got better against Chicago, but the D zone was
10:18still a mess.
10:19And last night, everything felt like it was really good, including the goaltender.
10:23Against a really strong opponent too.
10:25Against by far the best opponent they've played yet.
10:28Okay.
10:28Like the wild are very good.
10:30They have got big players and they are, they can skate.
10:33They won a playoff round last year.
10:35That is a legit hockey team over there.
10:38And you, you, I thought you controlled that game last night.
10:41They, they were easily to me, the better team.
10:44I'm proud of us for getting 11 minutes in without really mentioning the goaltender.
10:48You slipped it in there real quick, but I think we're all excited to see Colton Ellis
10:52get a start.
10:53This is no knock on UPL.
10:54You can love them.
10:55You can hate them.
10:56They've got three guys that they use and it was time for this guy to play.
10:59And I thought showed really well.
11:00Yeah.
11:01I, he was, he was very good.
11:02Uh, I, I did not like the second goal.
11:05The first one gets ramped up off Samuelson stick on a one-timer on the power play.
11:09I'm fine.
11:10I didn't have a real big problem with it.
11:12I didn't think he was late to the spot or not square or anything.
11:16It just, you know, he was playing for a one-timer that was going to be low that ended up
11:20high
11:20and there's nothing he could really do about that.
11:22I thought the second goal looked to me like he was guessing on a back post drive move from
11:29the player.
11:29He had plenty of room and it was a very, it was a grade a, as good as you can
11:34get chance,
11:35but where it beats him makes it look ugly.
11:37And so I think that you want to save there because that's priority.
11:42One is don't get beat through your body and don't get beat high on the short side from
11:47a, from a position like that.
11:49And he got beat through five hole.
11:51And that's, that's ugly.
11:53You hate that.
11:53You don't like, yeah.
11:54You hate through, hate through anything through.
11:56You'll hear me say this now I've got this show with you and we're going to talk a lot
12:00of sabers this year.
12:01You'll hear me see, say any goal through is a bad goal.
12:04And that I wholeheartedly believe that many of my goalie coaches over my career believe
12:09that.
12:10Well, explain what that means.
12:11Um, I mean, I'm going to take a guess and you can tell me if I'm right.
12:14Goal through means mentally you're in the right place.
12:18You thought of everything and then you forgot to do the fundamental things with your body
12:24to prevent it from happening.
12:25Is that correct?
12:26Exactly correct.
12:27You did all the hard work.
12:28I'm mostly a goalie.
12:29You're all, you're halfway there.
12:31It's all a mental game, Brad.
12:33I learned how to skate.
12:34But for example, the, the, the Lukanen two on one goal against Chicago, he did all the hard
12:41work to make a good read, make a good hard pushover.
12:45He's there and yet it gets beat.
12:47It gets under his, his arm under, under his pad and he gets beat through his body.
12:52And to me, you did all the hard stuff.
12:54Just be sealed.
12:55It's you should play from a sealed base at all times.
12:59And when you get beat through, it means that you're overreaching, you're overplaying and
13:05you're opening holes up on yourself and you don't need to do that.
13:08Everything you do from the, in the goaltending position should be from your base should be
13:13from, all right, I'm here, I'm sealed.
13:15Nothing's getting through me.
13:17I'll attack out from there.
13:18And if you're attacking out too far and getting beat back where you already were to me, that's
13:23a problem.
13:23And so that, that Ellis goal last night is a little bit of that.
13:27He's thinking, all right, I got to get ready here.
13:29He's coming in with some speed.
13:30I got to get, get on my toes and be ready to drive to my backside post here.
13:35And he gets his weight over, over top of himself and he just can't get down into the
13:39So when you get into a groove, you stop having to think about those things, right?
13:45Like that's, that part is locked in.
13:47And then it's just about where do I need to be right now?
13:50What do I know about this player?
13:51What do I see in front of me?
13:53How is my defensive coverage?
13:55Who's sneaking in from where it's all that, but there's nothing about your fundamentals
13:59that you think about.
13:59So that's now Colton Ellis hasn't played in a, in a while.
14:03Yep.
14:04So that's his first start.
14:05And I would say I'm still, whatever.
14:07There's one goal that you're not thrilled about, but you get yourself to over, you're
14:11down to nothing and you get yourself to overtime.
14:13I, you know, third period, wasn't the Colton Ellis show in any way, but he was consistently
14:18back there for a guy who's, we keep using chaos when talking about him.
14:22There wasn't a ton of chaos.
14:23No, that's what I'm looking for.
14:25And that's my next growth point is that he looks like his game has, has really sort of
14:30grown a little bit over this summer.
14:32And there's Matthew Fairburn has a great piece in the athletic about his summer.
14:36It's really, really good.
14:38You should go read it.
14:38It's awesome.
14:39He did all kinds of work and not that everybody doesn't, but it felt to me like this was a
14:45kid that knows he's got a shot here and he needs to take advantage of it.
14:50And I thought he took the first step down that path last night and he, to your point,
14:55looked much more confident in his positioning, in his sort of control over his own game.
15:02And it did not look scrambly.
15:05And the first, the early on, I thought that right away because in the first period, there
15:11was a play, a low, low lateral pass, dot to dot from Quinn Hughes to Kirill Kaprizov.
15:18Uh-oh.
15:18So two of, I don't know, the maybe 10 best players on the planet are connecting.
15:24The two names that came up on the show yesterday when we were talking to Paul about what are we
15:28dealing with here?
15:28And you're like, watch out for Hughes.
15:30And he's like, watch out for Kaprizov.
15:32He's going to be a factor.
15:33And Hughes makes a great pass into a very dangerous area in what is the most dangerous chance in
15:40hockey.
15:40A low pass laterally across the crease is the most scored on play you can have.
15:47Makes sense.
15:48Look the math up.
15:50It's very difficult to stop.
15:52Ellis, I think last year, would have ended up on his stomach reaching back for it because
15:57it was a great play by Hughes.
15:59He slips it across.
16:00It's a hard pass.
16:01But instead, Ellis is totally patient on his edges, makes a good, just very calm, efficient
16:09looking butterfly slide push across, hits him in the pad, great save, makes it look easy.
16:14And that was not what he did last year.
16:16He made everything look pretty hard last year.
16:18And he was good at doing it, but it looked difficult.
16:21Well, it's just not sustainable.
16:23No, exactly.
16:23It's not.
16:24It's Lukonen to me.
16:26It's what Lukonen plays like.
16:27It's inconsistent.
16:29And when you're on, you can be great.
16:30But when you're not, it's going to be bad because you're chasing a lot.
16:34And I didn't see as much of that last night from Ellis.
16:36I saw a lot of really good puck handling, which tells me he's got a lot of confidence.
16:40I saw a really, really good sense of game management.
16:45In overtime, there was a shot that he swallowed up that it felt like he knew, all right,
16:50we need a whistle here.
16:51We need to calm this down.
16:52And he did a great job.
16:53And then the Sabres totally stabilized.
16:56All right.
16:56Your turn to be Lindy Ruff.
16:58Sabres' third game of the homestand, fourth game overall.
17:01We'll play host to Dallas tomorrow.
17:02You know what I'm about to ask you.
17:04I do.
17:05Did he earn start No. 2?
17:08I have not gotten to a good answer on this.
17:11I think it's going to be Lukonen.
17:12And I think it probably should be Lukonen, but Ellis goes back on Saturday.
17:18Guaranteed.
17:18That's fair.
17:19I think you get Lukonen back into there for one game, no matter how it goes, unless he
17:24gets a shutout.
17:25Right.
17:25And he's great.
17:26But in part, you don't want to mess with his.
17:28Like, you started the season.
17:29We know it's a three-headed monster.
17:31We know the hell of a thing is kind of lingering, at least in conversation, whether it ever happens
17:36or not.
17:36But this guy's not locked in as the No. 1.
17:38That said, he becomes the default No. 1 because you're starting and who are we going to put
17:42in?
17:43He's the guy, especially with Lion banged up.
17:46So he's the guy.
17:47He gets his two mixed reviews on the first two games, but they get a win.
17:50They get a loss.
17:51We'll take it.
17:53Save percentage, not where you want it.
17:54Everything's not great, but he's come.
17:56He's been all right.
17:57He's been all right.
18:01Paul, multiple times on the station, some with us, some elsewhere.
18:04I was like, this, if Ellis wants the job, he's got to take it tonight.
18:08He can't give up more than two goals in the game.
18:10He didn't, but it wasn't a spectacular performance.
18:13And like you said, one of the goals is a little bit leaky.
18:16That's probably not enough to flip off UPL and tell him, you've lost.
18:24And it's not, even if Ellis were to start, it doesn't mean UPL's not coming back on Saturday.
18:31Sure.
18:31None of it, but you're right.
18:33It's a mental thing.
18:34From a mental thing.
18:35All right, UPL, there's the rhythm of this.
18:38You've got two.
18:39He gets one.
18:39You're back in there.
18:40Go get him.
18:41Yeah, exactly.
18:42And until further notice, that's kind of how we're going to play it.
18:45Ellis with the opportunity to sort of rest that temporary number one title.
18:51I mean, that's really all you're striving for right now.
18:52Yeah, exactly.
18:53You're just trying to hold it for a while, especially with three of them.
18:57But yeah, I think that's right.
18:59I think good job.
19:00We're coming back to you.
19:01You didn't steal the fake starting job.
19:05Fake is wrong.
19:06But temporary starting job.
19:07UPL, go get him.
19:08So you're not messing with his confidence, but you're still saying nice things to Colton
19:12Ellis because he gave you a good game.
19:13Yeah, absolutely.
19:14I think that it would be easy to, if it had gone badly for Ellis last night, to just go,
19:20all right, Lukonen's Thursday, Saturday, and we're just waiting on line to get back.
19:23But what Ellis did with a game that was, to me, very solid but not spectacular was, okay,
19:30Lukonen gets another shot, but I'm not pushing this kid aside right now.
19:35He showed something, and we're going to let him get on a roll here, at least playing consistently
19:41once a week, twice a week, instead of being the guy that's backing up every night so the
19:46other guy can take a nap.
19:48Where are we on Lion and his return?
19:52It's up in the air right now.
19:53He skated for a long time yesterday, so that's encouraging.
19:56He said he's getting there, but it's just in the air right now.
20:00So I wouldn't expect him back this weekend necessarily, but next week I would think that
20:05you're going to start talking about.
20:07And there is some level of peace or calm where you're not dealing with a third one in the
20:13rotation.
20:13So I would imagine Lindy Ruff can treat this like a starter and a backup, even though we're
20:19not really in that position necessarily.
20:22And Lion will have his opportunity to, again, become the temporary one at some point.
20:28If he gets hot, I would imagine Lindy Ruff's open to that.
20:31Or are we looking to settle back into a rhythm of what worked for them last year, which is
20:38that Ellis is my constant backup and UPL will start a game and then Lion will start a game.
20:43But if you're not playing, you're sitting, like there was something kind of cool about
20:47that, the way that worked, especially mentally for these guys to know, all right, tonight's
20:51my night to play.
20:52All right, I'm off tonight.
20:53All right, tonight's my night to play.
20:54I'm off.
20:55There's no fear that this guy's going to get torched for three or four goals in the
20:58first and I'm coming in.
20:59It just goes away.
21:00I've got to have to prepare and it's all weird.
21:01Being on call sucks.
21:03Yeah, absolutely.
21:04I hated backing up when I played.
21:06It was the worst because I wanted to prepare the same way I would for a start, but you can't.
21:12Do you find yourself rooting against the starting goaltender when, I bet there are
21:15situations where you do.
21:16It depends.
21:17It depends on where you're at.
21:18Like for my youth teams and stuff, no, I always just wanted my guy to do well, whatever.
21:23But there were times in like my junior career or maybe my prep career where I was not rooting
21:29against that guy, but hoping that I would, that something would happen that would give
21:32me the opportunity to prove that I was better.
21:35Right, but something happening is either this guy gets torched or this guy gets hurt and you
21:39can't say those things out loud.
21:41Right.
21:42That's correct.
21:42I don't know if the Sabres are in that position right now.
21:44Maybe subtly, maybe there's a little bit.
21:46Or are they?
21:47I think that right now what they're doing, what Ellis and Lucanen now to me are doing
21:53after Ellis played the way he did is who's Lion taking the first start off of?
21:57Which one of you is sitting down for him?
22:00Whichever one of you comes out on top here is the guy that sits out for him.
22:04Whether you're actually physically in the press box or not, one of you is going to lose
22:08a start to Lion when he comes back.
22:10Which one of you is it going to be?
22:10Right, and then we'll figure out the rhythm after that, after we see how he contributes
22:14to the offense.
22:14Yeah, I think that, and to the question about are they in that place right now, about this
22:18being sort of testy, like, hmm.
22:20I think last year it was very easy for Ellis to play the, I'm happy, I'm good, I'll be
22:25I'll be Mr. Backup Guy and not play ever, and it's fine.
22:30I think after you do that for a year, you have a great summer, you come in and you play
22:34a
22:34good game early, I think it becomes like, hey, come on.
22:39Right.
22:39I'm earning it here.
22:40I'm doing the job.
22:42I've served my time, and I'm playing well.
22:46That needs to stay.
22:48You've got to play well to feel like this.
22:50But if he continues to play well, if I was him, I'd be rattling cages.
22:54Like, why are we still starting other guys?
22:56You've got me.
22:57And why do I keep hearing about Connor Halibut?
22:59Right.
23:00Sure.
23:00There's that, too.
23:01So it's a cool situation until it becomes unmanageable, and they got through a full season
23:08of it that way, and it was unusual.
23:11It was weird, but it worked.
23:13Got a little confusing near the end of the regular season, and then how are you going
23:16to have this translated into the playoffs?
23:19And then it got to guys in and out of the lineup.
23:21But I think it's cool and interesting.
23:25And I don't want to say no one else does it for a reason, but I can't think of it
23:30being
23:31a successful strategy, and there's probably a reason.
23:34And I could see what it would be as, I don't want to say jealousies kick in, but sort of.
23:40It's competitive.
23:41They're competing in a good way until it becomes in a bad way.
23:45And you've got to keep an eye on that.
23:46Lindy Russell's a smart guy.
23:47He knows this.
23:48He knows this is not conventional.
23:50But it is convenient that Lyon's just not available right now.
23:53So we're just hanging out like a regular team with two goalies.
23:56And that's a lot of how last year played out, is Lukanen would go down, and then Ellis would
24:01be heard.
24:01It really did.
24:03And Lindy's talked about that.
24:06It kind of worked itself out last year.
24:08And I wonder if we get into a stretch where all three of them are healthy for 30 games,
24:13whether one of them goes like, come on.
24:15What are we doing?
24:17I'm an NHL goalie, and I should be playing, and I'm not.
24:21That is right there.
24:22I think that is right there to happen this season.
24:25All right.
24:25Quick timeout.
24:26We'll be back.
24:27It is middays with Brad, Tim, and Owen on a Wednesday following a Sabres victory.
24:33They're 2-1.
24:33The Bills are 3-1.
24:35Sabres back in action tomorrow night at home against Dallas.
24:38Bills in action Monday night against the LA Rams.
24:42Lots to talk about.
24:43Jump on in at 803-0550 because we like connecting with the fans, courtesy of Northtown Kia.
24:49Today's show, as always, brought to you in part by Tim Hortons.
24:53It is the official coffee of the WGR Morning Show.
24:57Look at Owen in action, consuming his Tim Hortons.
25:00I have a minor beef with Tim Hortons right now.
25:03Oh.
25:03I just want the cool football cups to be at the Tim Hortons that's on the way here twice
25:09now.
25:10I'm like, ooh, am I going to get Deion Dawkins?
25:13Am I going to get Christian Benford?
25:15Am I going to get Dalton Kincaid?
25:18And twice now in the last week, Harry Potter.
25:23Dang.
25:24I don't know how this all works with the cup distribution.
25:26Harry Potter's cool.
25:27Nope.
25:28I don't know how this works with the cup distribution.
25:30I am intentionally getting iced coffees, looking for these things, and I'm just going to the
25:34location that hasn't turned over to the new cups yet.
25:37So if you can work on the maple location, Tim Hortons.
25:41I'm going to keep buying your coffee.
25:43The coffee's delicious.
25:43It's great.
25:44But I'd like one of these cool plastic cups.
25:45I could steal one, but it would ruin our little artwork here in the back.
25:51Yeah, our sort of Goldilocks, big, medium, small situation.
25:54Yeah.
25:55I like that.
25:56Yeah, it's a good look.
25:56I'm looking to land this Cook and Dawkins one.
25:59Cook and Dawkins is a good pair.
26:00Now, I don't know if, because we've got them in three different sizes.
26:04So Cook and Dawkins are on the biggest one.
26:05That's the one I like.
26:06So that's what I'm looking for.
26:07I'm looking for a Deion Dawkins cup.
26:09And then Kincaid and Benford on the medium.
26:11And then Knox and Bernard on the small.
26:15I'm going large, but I'm not looking for Harry Potter.
26:18So you're doing great.
26:20Tim Hortons, everything else is awesome.
26:22We just want your cool stuff.
26:23I just don't want a Harry Potter cup.
26:25And that's just me.
26:25There are people who hate the Bills and love Harry Potter.
26:29I'm not friends with any.
26:30Like me, Brad.
26:31Like me.
26:32I'm not friends with any of them.
26:33But if you could hook me up at the Maple location, that would be awesome.
26:36So thanks.
26:37All right.
26:37Time out.
26:39It's middays on WG.
