About This Game

A tale of emotion versus reason…

In Tales of Berseria, players embark on a journey of self-discovery as they assume the role of Velvet, a young woman whose once kind demeanor has been replaced and overcome with a festering anger and hatred after a traumatic experience three years prior to the events within Tales of Berseria. Velvet will join a crew of pirates as they sail across the sea and visit the many islands that make up the sacred kingdom of Midgand in an all-new adventure developed by the celebrated team behind the Tales of series. Veteran Tales of character designer Mutsumi Inomata has personally designed Velvet and famous Japanese animation studio, ufotable, returns to animate the game’s breathtaking cutscenes; delivering truly epic and emotional storytelling in their unique style.

00:01By the way, those folks we just passed were talking about us.
00:05What were they saying?
00:07They were warning each other to be careful,
00:09talking about the demons that burned down Helleviz
00:12and destroyed the Seagate Fortress being near the capital.
00:15Considering how bold we've been, everyone's still fairly calm about it.
00:19We'll be famous soon enough once we kill the world's savior.
00:23Sounds like that could get fun.
00:25Fun? Why?
00:27The people trying to capture us will put prices on our heads
00:30and put up wanted posters everywhere.
00:32Depending on who draws the likenesses,
00:34each portrait can look completely different.
00:36You know what I'm talking about, right, Aizen?
00:38Aye. I've seen dozens of pictures of myself.
00:42Some make me a monster, others make me a handsome youth.
00:46It's fascinating, really.
00:48I hope I get a poster soon.
00:51Then do your best to really stir things up.
00:54Right. I'll stir everything up good.
01:05What's the matter?
01:07You're gloomier than usual.
01:09Am I actually useful?
01:12Huh?
01:13You can cut down any enemy,
01:15and Aizen can beat them up.
01:18Velvet is strong and can eat anything.
01:21Huh?
01:22But I'm not good at fighting.
01:24And apparently I'm always gloomy.
01:27Is that what's bothering you?
01:29In a fight, offense alone isn't everything.
01:32Hurting your foes means nothing if you don't live to tell the tale afterwards.
01:37Your healing arts are what let us always fight at our best.
01:40He's right.
01:41Compared to dead weight like Mogilu,
01:44you're plenty helpful out there.
01:46Only compared to Mogilu?
01:48I didn't mean it like that.
01:49I was just saying she never helped at all.
01:54You're not going to grow overnight.
01:56Be patient.
01:58Huh?
01:59You've only just been set free.
02:01That you've even managed to keep up with us this far is a feat in and of itself.
02:06Strength comes by continually improving your mind and body.
02:10Keep your spirits up and keep working at it.
02:12And you'll get there before you know it.
02:14I will?
02:16The drive to improve is what's important.
02:19Right.
02:20The drive is great.
02:21Okay.
02:21Good.
02:22Good.
02:23By the way,
