00:00La 3e match, New Japan Cup Tournament 1.
00:05Je t'en prie un match.
00:30That's where Sho is with Shingo.
00:32Shingo lives rent-free in Sho's head.
00:36It drives that man, not crazy, it drives him harder.
00:43It forces him to push himself because Sho sees Shingo, they are very much alike in terms
00:53of body composition, mental makeup, personal effort attitude.
01:02Sho wants to be who Shingo Takagi is, but can Sho prove tonight that he is as good as Shingo?
01:14You, me, and everybody else, we can all say to him, but you are as good, you're great.
01:20It's not until he proves it to himself, folks.
01:24It is something that has driven Sho beyond the point of exhaustion time and time again
01:30in this dogged pursuit of finally defeating Shingo Takagi.
01:34And now, in the wake of everything that's happened and worldwide cancellations and shutdowns
01:40and the reformatting of this entire tournament, isn't it wonderful to see Sho paired up against
01:47Shingo Takagi in the first round of the New Japan Cup, guaranteeing that we will see it.
01:54Now, a win by Shingo starts a ride.
01:59I think he can get on a serious roll here if he defeats Sho.
02:05I would say, wouldn't you have Sho as a favorite?
02:09Would you have Shingo, rather, as a favorite over Sonata?
02:15And wouldn't you love to see a Shingo match against the winner of Ibushi Zack Sabre Jr.?
02:21What about Taichi Tanahashi?
02:23A lot can happen down the road, but he's already a double champion,
02:27never openweight champion, and six-man tag team champion in an openweight tournament.
02:34Does that give Shingo the recipe for success?
02:38By the way, the lone LIJ member on the left-hand side of the bracket, Hiromu Takahashi.
02:47Evil sees first round action tomorrow night, as does Bushi.
02:51Everybody except Tetsuya Naito from LIJ is in this tournament
02:55because he's the target at the end, the double champ.
03:13Shingo Tsukagi capturing the never-openweight championship
03:16from Hiro Gigodo back in January.
03:22And then it was, of course, at Wrestle Kingdom,
03:27the first event of night two at Tokyo Dome
03:30was the gauntlet for the never-openweight six-man tag team championship
03:34won by Shingo, Evil, and Bushi.
03:37So Sho, as we know, laser-focused,
03:39and we think back to their recent history.
03:42Last year, head-to-head, Shingo defeated Sho on May the 13th
03:45in their first match of the Best of the Super Junior Tournament.
03:50Not single elimination like the New Japan Cup,
03:55but it threw Sho's tournament into a funk,
03:57and he immediately charges at the bell.
04:00Shingo knew what was coming.
04:02He stiffens up, and now Roxanne fires with forearms.
04:08The victory by Shingo threw Sho's tournament back on its heels.
04:13It took him a while to recover, never was in the money,
04:15whereas Shingo made it to the finals.
04:18Oh, big crusher of a clothesline in the corner.
04:21Now, a collision.
04:25They're walking familiar ground with each other right now
04:28because Sho wants to prove the lessons that he's learned.
04:31Cover, two, and a kick-out.
04:33Immediately, cross-arm breaker.
04:35If he goes at Shingo and tries a trick strategy,
04:39something new, something different,
04:40and then Shingo could say,
04:42well, you couldn't beat me with your way.
04:45You had to steal something from somebody else.
04:47So Sho says, no, I'm going to prove to you
04:49the same way I have tried over the last year and a half
04:52to beat you.
04:53I will do it.
04:55So don't look for anything different from Sho here.
05:00He wants no excuses from Shingo.
05:03He wants nobody to put an asterisk by the win.
05:07He wants it to be as clean as possible,
05:09but in between those ropes,
05:10he will be as aggressive as he has to be.
05:12One, two, three, four.
05:15A lot of maturation being questioned at times
05:20with the members of Roppongi 3K.
05:23And how badly they want to win.
05:26Will they do all that it takes to win?
05:29It's not about the training before
05:31because both Yo and Sho come in
05:33in pristine competition shape at all times.
05:37Blast of a kick into the chest.
05:41And sometimes, will they get their hands dirty to win?
05:47And that is a crack of a kick into the chest.
05:53One of the only good things about not having any fans
05:55is that you really get to hear the collisions in the ring.
06:00Shingo locks the brakes on that one.
06:07Sho came out firing.
06:09Shingo was ready,
06:10but Sho has gotten the better of things
06:11with the New Japan Cup trophy looming on the horizon.
06:14This is just the first round.
06:16Winner of the tournament is going to have to win five matches
06:18to claim that trophy.
06:19And the match dominion against Tetsuya Naito
06:23for both championships.
06:24Dibbs, drop kick there by Sho.
06:26Shingo bounced off and then trucks right through Sho.
06:30Back on his feet, sending Sho.
06:34Sho gets hung up on the top rope,
06:36catapulted all the way over the top,
06:37crashing down to the arena floor.
06:46So Shingo getting the admonishment
06:48from referee Marty Asami
06:49to get the action back into the ring.
06:55and now Sho after going all the way over the top,
07:00gets launched into the barricade.
07:03My goodness.
07:07Japanese announced team right over there to our right
07:10as Shingo peppering Sho's back with a series of kicks.
07:22A very, very physical match as we anticipated,
07:25much like we saw in their best of Super Junior match last year.
07:29Face first and not stopping there.
07:32The DDT to the arena floor.
07:38Three-match winning streak in singles action for Shingo Takagi.
07:44In fact, it was last September,
07:46Destruction and Kobe,
07:47where Shingo last dropped a singles match.
07:5213-6 in singles tournament matches.
07:579-1 in the best of Super Juniors.
07:594-5 in the G1 Climax.
08:06And Marty Asami stopping the count
08:08once Shingo rolled Sho underneath the bottom rope.
08:14And now I'm going to go to work here on the net.
08:16Grind it out.
08:18Shingo again.
08:19Shingo and Sho very similar.
08:20And they're both powerlifting guys.
08:24They're into weight training.
08:26They're into hard hitting,
08:27physical confrontations.
08:31Knee drop there.
08:32And their styles are similar.
08:35Shows certainly the powerhouse
08:37of the junior heavyweight division.
08:40Shingo was certainly that and more.
08:46But there is a crispness.
08:48There is a precision to everything that Shingo does.
08:52And that pop, that snap that he had on every move
08:55when he was in the junior heavyweight division,
08:57you said, well, that's because he's got,
08:58you know, a weight advantage on just about everybody.
09:01But he has been,
09:02Shingo has been executing those moves
09:04in the same manner,
09:05even in the heavyweight division.
09:17This is where Sho realizes,
09:20has all the hard work,
09:21all the focus,
09:22has the effort been there?
09:24Because I even said,
09:25Sho's working so hard
09:27on winning this match.
09:29It's a one-match tournament for Sho.
09:34He's more concerned with defeating Shingo
09:36than he is winning the New Japan Cup.
09:38That's how much this is.
09:39Straight rights and then a massive chop into the chest.
09:46And you have to wonder
09:48if Sho is unable to defeat Shingo here.
09:51What does this do to this young man mentally?
09:56The spear, but no.
09:57He cannot even get Shingo to move
10:00when he nails in full force with a spear.
10:04Vertical suplex, but no.
10:07Sho turns it around,
10:08one of his own.
10:16So Shingo Takagi
10:20may have let Sho wriggle off the hook there,
10:22unable to execute that vertical suplex,
10:24but you know we got to give Sho some credit.
10:26It was his heart, his determination.
10:28He was able to fight through
10:30and turn things around.
10:34and turn things around.
10:37Sho bullying Shingo now back into the corner,
10:40stepping in and delivering.
10:42Here he comes, confident,
10:43but Shingo ready.
10:44Underneath.
10:45Spear.
10:46This time Shingo no counter.
10:48Drills at midsection two and a kickout.
10:50Sous-titrage Société Radio-Canada
11:21Shingo rolls through
11:22and instead may have put himself now in more difficulty
11:28Pump handle in the arm, twisting it up
11:37Very, very painful
11:41Watch this now, going for the arm, no
11:43Straight right, bang
11:45Down goes Sho
11:48Just when you think you've got Shingo where you want him
11:51You realize you don't have him at all
11:58A perfect first round opponent for Shingo
12:00If you think about it
12:01Because the competition and the confrontation with junior heavyweights
12:06Certainly very, very comfortable and confident is Shingo in that regard
12:11Just nine and one, nine and one record alone in last year's best of super junior tournament
12:19Including a victory over Sho
12:20Who now is trying the cross arm breaker
12:25And now as Shingo comes in closer
12:27He could be finding himself, no, no, no
12:30The power of one arm
12:36Dropping Sho down to the mat
12:43And when you look up for Shingo and you say
12:46Well, where's his weakness?
12:47Where is his Achilles heel?
12:50He has none
12:52He has none
12:53You just have to outlast him
12:54Because he's not going to make a big mistake
12:58He checks all the boxes in terms of power, in terms of moveset, in terms of technique
13:04Looking for Noshigami here
13:11And now the reversal from Sho into an opportunity here to move forward with a series of kicks
13:23Thought maybe Sho was going to turn things around for a backslide
13:26But instead, the left and right boots found their mark
13:30In the chest and back of the dragon
13:33Sho's got to be careful here
13:35Be very careful
13:36You cannot miss
13:37Coming off the ropes
13:39Running right at Shingo
13:40You are taking your life into your hands
13:44This is where he connects
13:46Just like that
13:47The snap suplex
13:48Yeah, Sho, you're able to get back up
13:50Don't miss
13:52Don't miss
13:53German suplex hangs on
13:56German suplex again
13:58German suplex again
13:59Hangs on
14:01Shingo
14:02Desperate
14:03Clinging that rope
14:08At the 10 minute mark
14:10Another waist lock
14:12Another German suplex again
14:14Shingo
14:20Moves across the
14:24The ring so effectively gets caught with an e-strike
14:26But now the change of direction
14:27And blast puts him down
14:28Pumping
14:29Bomber
14:33And now
14:35Sliding
14:36Lariat
14:37Shingo Takagi
14:39Is on his path
14:41On his way to victory
14:43Again over Sho
14:51Noshigami
14:52No defense this time
14:54Face first
14:55Sho hits the bat
14:56The leg hook
14:57He'll try it too
14:59And a kick out
15:01Shingo
15:02Shingo
15:02Generally uses
15:03Noshigami
15:04As a set up
15:05For
15:05One of
15:07His big finishing moves
15:08Either made in Japan
15:09Or last of the dragon
15:15Shingo
15:16Oh my goodness
15:23There's nothing personal with Shingo and Sho
15:26It is business as far as Shingo Takagi is concerned
15:31For Sho it's deeply personal but in a motivational way
15:42Steps in
15:43Every time
15:43Even if he's just got one two steps
15:45You can see the force he puts on
15:52Shingo lifting Sho putting him up on the top rope
15:54Now following through
15:56He'll look for the big superplex here
16:00Sho's gonna try to get as low as he possibly
16:02No instead
16:04Instead
16:04Now he's got Takagi's arm
16:11Shingo having to forget about the suplex instead
16:13Play defense
16:14Get his arm out of the way
16:16Now he's wide open for Sho
16:18To crack him
16:19Oh that last one really skull to skull
16:26Watch this
16:27Watch this
16:28Oh
16:29Sunset bomb
16:31And now
16:32On the shoulder
16:35Back cracker there
16:37That long blower big time
16:39Double knees to the back
16:46Take a look
16:56Alright so now with Shingo staggered and slowed
16:59Sho to his feet
17:01Hits a pumping bomber of his own I guess we could say
17:05Hooks both legs just a one count
17:07Just a one count from Shingo Takagi
17:12Good look on Sho's face says it all
17:14Good look on Sho's face says it all
17:21Deadlift
17:21Look at the strength of Sho
17:27Trying to execute it does with the bridge
17:30Two
17:31Oh so close
17:34Almost just a two so close to three
17:39Joe exerts so much effort into executing that deadlift German suplex it takes him a moment to recover
17:48But now shock arrow time
17:53Here we go cross the arms
17:56Tie him up
17:58Shock arrow but Shingo gets free
18:00Back drops his way to safety
18:06Sho is on his feet
18:07I doubt Shingo was aware of it
18:10Oh my goodness
18:19I think they both want some more
18:26Cracking him with forearms
18:31Heavy thud with that left hand
18:34Double blast chop into the chest
18:37Sho does not go down
18:45Hammering away forearms repeatedly
18:49Oh straight right
18:51Sho shakes it off
18:53Headbutt to the heart
19:00At the 15 minute mark
19:02At the 15 minute mark
19:02Now here we go
19:03Made in Japan
19:07Shingo advancing
19:08No he couldn't
19:10I don't believe it
19:15My goodness Sho was able to kick out after Made in Japan
19:25But a pumping bomber will advance Shingo pumping
19:32Bomber
19:34To he go
19:36What the hell
19:38Oh my god he kicked out
19:42Oh
19:44I don't believe it he just kicked out after the pumping bomber
19:51I need a moment
19:52Oh my god
19:56Now last of the dragon
19:59This will surely do it
20:00Wait a minute wait a minute
20:02Shingo
20:03Couldn't keep him there
20:06And now the double wrist lock
20:10Double wrist lock
20:16Very very painful
20:19Shingo trying to get out from underneath
20:23Got to minimize the pressure here
20:30And now Gator rolling through
20:31Wait a minute both arms are trapped
20:33Both arms are trapped
20:34Shingo up
20:36Oh spike pile driver
20:37Just pile drive him right there
20:44Cross arm pile driver from
20:47Sho
20:51Who will look now for
20:53Shock arrow
20:55Got it
20:59Shock arrow on Shingo Takagi
21:02And he has done it
21:03Sho has defeated Shingo
21:16The mental hurdle
21:18He's finally crossed in that
21:23Mountainous blockage in his head that
21:26Occupied his thoughts, his minds, his dreams
21:28For every waking moment
21:32He's finally overcome it
21:34Sanada vs Sho
21:36Oh now we get Sanada and Sho in the second round
21:39I gotta tell you what folks
21:41I thought Shingo was gonna win that one
21:45I had said it before the tournament
21:46And I was already thinking about a Shingo vs Sanada
21:50Second round match
21:53But after what I saw here from Sho and
21:57See if you folks agree with me
21:59I think Sho has what it takes
22:02To be a real problem for Sanada in the second round
22:11I had said that if Sho wins
22:14It's a one match tournament for him
22:16Because he's so focused on defeating Shingo
22:18That there's a natural letdown coming in the second round
22:23But I don't know there was something different
22:26Something unique about Sho here in this one
22:29He won convincingly
22:31He took the best shots from Shingo Takagi
22:35He finally learned, he finally toughened up
22:37He finally was able to survive
22:40And fight through
22:43All the pain and disappointment and frustration
22:46Of coming close time and time again against Shingo Takagi
22:49Finally pays off
22:50As Sho has advanced
22:52Winning here in the first round of the New Japan Cup
23:02Congratulations, what a hard fought win
23:09Joe 1-0
23:111-0 all time in the New Japan Cup
23:13How about that?
23:14Let's see if he can keep the good times going
23:17On July the 1st
23:182-0
23:182-0
23:192
23:222τη
