You know, with the passing of 9-11 this weekend and being a New Yorker, it stirs up a lot of memories, a lot of sadness and a lot of hope, all in the same sense of emotions.

So I was thinking about, I came in contact this past week, with a woman who lost her husband after 50 years of marriage.

It just prompted me to sort of address this because being a real estate agent, I really want to approach her and say, you know, how about are you interested in selling your house?

But actually going through that process myself and my own experience, I also realize that it’s not the time.

The time is usually —- the experts will tell you to go through two years of trying to decide whether or not to sell your house if your spouse has passed.

Although I never experienced a divorce, of course, they say and maintain that having a divorce is like a death of a marriage as well.
So how do you approach it?

Well, I kind of figured I sent out a card of sympathy and just simply advised the surviving spouse that take your time.

Don’t make any decisions about selling your house.

Talk to some good people who can counsel you.

Not a real estate agent, not friends.

However, if you need anything, please reach out to me and I will help you in any way I can.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that, although this is a rough subject to talk about, and being that every one of us has our own experiences.

Talk it out with someone who’s certified to help you.
This way, when you make the decision to sell or stay, it’ll be the right one.

And you can then at least move forward a little bit with your life.
And that’s my point.
