00:03but we interviewed a lot of gentlemen that were on board learned about what the edson did in battle
00:08it was a very powerful gunship um that deployed a lot of ammunition during the vietnam war
00:15um and one of the interesting things about it is even how it got its name the gray ghost
00:20of the vietnamese coast that actually came from the enemy which is interesting so you know the
00:27edson was out there doing what it does best you know and delivering a lot of ammo and the vietnamese
00:33uh did hit it and they thought they had sunk it and so you know the word was you know
00:39through all
00:40the radio that you know they're deciphering the enemy's you know communications that they believe
00:46that they had destroyed it and sunk it but what happened was it was very foggy the edson took off
00:51and left you know dry docked and got fixed up and came back a few months later when it came
00:57back
00:57again it happened to be very foggy in the same area it came out of the fog and just unloaded
01:04on the areas that had attacked it and they were screaming over the microphone the enemies that
01:10it's a it's a ghost it's a ghost ship the gray ghost and that's how it got its name oddly
01:14enough
01:15from the enemy
01:15from the enemy
