Celebrate the home premiere of Spider-Man: Brand New Day with fans around the world! Watch at home now.

It's a BRAND NEW DAY for Peter Parker. Fighting crime full-time as Spider-Man in a world that doesn’t remember him—and the pressure of seeing his old friends move on without him—sparks a change in Peter he may not have the power to control. But that transformation might also be the only thing that can stop a shocking new threat to the city and those he loves - a powerful villain no one can even see.

The world may have forgotten Peter Parker, but he hasn’t forgotten them.

03:02is anyone else's spider senses tingling right now? I feel like something awesome is about to happen.
03:09I think we've got some fans entering the chat right now. Is there a Nathan on the call? Hi. Oh,
03:15my God. Nathan Kim. So for anyone who has ever seen the TikTok trend, just the Jean Grey thing going
03:22on,
03:23it is this man right here, Nathan Kim, the telepath choreographer for Spider-Man Brand New Day. It's
03:28great to see you, Nathan. Hey. Nice to be here. All right. I'm also hearing word that there is a
03:34Destin on the call. Is there a Destin somewhere? Hey, everyone. It's Destin, the director of Spider-Man
03:42Brand New Day. How are you, Destin? It's amazing to be here. You know what? I think we have some
03:48fans
03:48here that have some questions for you. I think I'm going to kick it to Thailand. Do you guys have
03:53a
03:53question for Destin? Hello. Hello. Hello. I want to know if there's something new to be here in the show
04:05of Peter Parker? Yeah. He has to make the best of his life. Well, the biggest challenge that we had
04:13for this movie was where Peter Parker begins, which is his first time in his life being completely
04:20separated from his friends and his family and his community. And to start Spider-Man in that place
04:27at the beginning of the movie was a challenge that we all really embraced. And it was really exciting
04:33to watch him go on this journey from being completely outside and alone to relearning the importance of
04:41community and being around the people that he loves. I really miss you guys. That was great.
04:47Japan, do you have a question for Nathan? Hi.
04:58One really fun thing to keep an eye out for is just the change in people's expressions when they become
05:03inhabited. It's really fascinating to see all these different performers become a totally different
05:08character when they are jumped with this energy. And one of my favorite scenes in the whole film is
05:14with Zendaya when you just see her transform from one person to another right before your eyes just
05:20through her expression. So that's one thing that I'd like to watch on. Thank you.
05:26Let's kick it over to Italy. Do you guys have a question for Destin?
05:36This movie is all about the importance of human connection. And I think right now, maybe more
05:43than ever, it's very easy to feel alone. This movie taught me, and I hope it spreads, taught me the
05:51importance of being really close to the people that we love. Yeah, you would have loved her.
06:00Let's kick it to the UK. Do you guys have a question for Nathan?
06:04Hey, Nathan. How are you? Good to see you. And firstly, I want to say it was such an amazing
06:09experience working with you on set. And secondly, I wanted to ask you, did you ever try on the Spider
06:14-Man
06:14costume? Good to see you, Megan. No, I never tried on the Spider-Man costume myself, but some people
06:21from our movement dance team did occasionally wear versions of the costume when they were standing
06:26in for Spider-Man as we were developing the scenes. But as far as the costume itself,
06:32only Tom ever wore that. Let's kick it to Brazil.
06:35I mean, I think some of the most difficult decisions that I have to make as a director are
06:50the things that we will not be able to include in a movie. In pre-production, we actually put a
06:57lot of
06:58time and effort and planning into a big action sequence and never made the final cut. It
07:05all took place in the bar with no name. So it was a giant bar fight with all kinds of
07:12fun characters
07:13in there. And our action design team did an amazing choreography on it. And we just realized that it
07:20was not going to fit into the movie. Canada, do you have a question for Nathan? What's going on, Nathan?
07:27What is something you did privately to prepare for this project that most people don't know?
07:32Well, when I was a kid, I loved collecting comics. And one of the first one I ever owned was
07:38actually
07:38a Spider-Man comic given to me by one of my older cousins. In a way, I feel like a
07:43lot of my childhood
07:44itself was preparation for this project. And just the wonder and fascination that I had for these
07:50characters and the worlds they lived in and my interest in all the special powers that they possessed
07:56kind of set me up to be ready to explore this as an adult. Let's head on over to Germany.
08:02Hi Dustin,
08:03nice to meet you. Hi, good to meet you too. Thank you. Um, so yeah, my question,
08:08um, gab es eine Szene, die super leicht mit CGI umzusetzen wäre, du aber darauf bestanden hast,
08:15es wirklich praktisch zu drehen?
08:18Yeah, quite a few moments in this movie that we were always trying to find ways to do
08:23praktisch. The biggest one that comes to mind, and I'm glad Nathan Kim is on here, is the
08:29the way that we portrayed the powers of Jean Grey. It was very hard to visualize, but we wanted to
08:36find a real
08:37physical way to do it. And so I called up my good friend Nathan Kim and, and he got together
08:43a bunch
08:44of very talented dancers in Los Angeles and just started doing, uh, experiments with body movement.
08:51And he was, he was sending me the videos back on that he was taking on his iPhone. And we
08:57were just
08:57kind of going back and forth until we found a movement that really felt right for that character.
09:02And it's one of my, my favorite parts of the movie is watching those dancers, uh, interpret what this
09:10power is, is for Jean Grey. And that took over TikTok. Uh, let's kick it to where I left my
09:17heart,
09:17San Francisco. Do you guys have a question for Nathan? Hi. Um, I was wondering, has there been a
09:22fan reaction moment that you've loved or that you've been surprised by? I mean, just to pick up on that
09:28TikTok comment, like it was really so surprising to see, uh, so many people on different social
09:33media platforms sort of run with this idea of this jumping from one person to another and stage all
09:40their, all these little scenes where they could play out this, these ideas in, in theaters, in malls.
09:48I think I saw someone do one at a baseball game and, um, I just loved kind of people exploring
09:55it
09:55creatively in their own way. It was a lot of fun. Let's go to Mexico.
10:01We mentioned Mexico. Good to see you.
10:05How do you handle Peter Parker's mutation and how far do you want to take it?
10:09We definitely were, uh, exploring all the options and initially, but where we landed was to find a
10:18balance that, that just helped to communicate the theme that, that Peter Parker is going through.
10:25And the, the emotions that he's going through, we wanted it to just be relatable to anybody.
10:31Um, and so the mutation to me is, is just a metaphor for emotions that I think many of us
10:39can connect to. And many of us have felt like we are monsters at certain points in our lives and
10:46have
10:46felt like we are out of control. And for me, when I feel like that, the thing that grounds me
10:52the most
10:52is my family and my community. And that's what Peter, Peter finds as well in this movie.
10:57Well, thank you so much for that. Uh, let's kick it to Los Angeles. Uh, Caitlin,
11:02do you have a question for Nathan? Hi, Nathan. What was the most challenging
11:07Spider-Man sequence to bring to life? In this particular scene, we had that blast wave of energy,
11:12uh, moving across the city block with cars crashing in the foreground and stunt players
11:18that were getting, um, that were on bikes getting hit and rolling over the hoods of cars. It was a
11:23scene that just required so many different moving pieces and different departments to come together
11:28to pull off. But I think it was also one of the most fulfilling because it allowed us to really
11:33work
11:33as a team. And Taya, do you have a question for Destin? Um, Frank and Peter Parker had such a
11:39great
11:39dynamic on screen. Was this the same behind the scenes? It was exactly the same behind the scenes,
11:46which makes it very difficult to shoot sometimes, but it is a lot of fun. When two actors have a
11:51history
11:52together and they like each other and they enjoy each other like those two, um, it makes my job actually
11:58very easy because you just start rolling and they, they, you know, they just start doing what they do
12:05and it's super fun to watch. Are you blushing daffodil? Uh, let's head to Australia, Nathan. It's lovely to
12:13meet you. So stylistically, how did you decide which elements from the comics to feature in the film?
12:19When it came to the movement sequences around Jean Grey's powers, we tried out a lot of different
12:26ideas as Destin was saying, um, as to how things might look and how these jumps might read on camera.
12:32What we landed on stylistically came down to what was going to read the best on camera, um, so that
12:38you
12:38could understand the story and sort of see visually what was happening and that it made sense. He really
12:43just gave us a lot of guidance and direction as to what he wanted us to move towards and what
12:48he really
12:48connected with. Let's go to South Africa. Yeah, Destin, um, Morlo from South Africa. You should come visit.
12:55If you had to film Spider-Man in South Africa, which city would you choose?
12:59I'm pretty sure that Johannesburg was, was already destroyed, right? In, in Avengers Age of Ultron.
13:07So maybe Cape Town would be the next best place to go.
13:11India, do you have a question for Nathan?
13:14Hi Nathan, um, congratulations on the massive success and this thing becoming a trend.
13:18But keeping that in mind, how did you manage to film this entire thing on the streets
13:25and, you know, in public and wasn't that difficult?
13:28Well, for the scenes that I was involved in with all the jumps, I'd say most of them were actually
13:33not
13:33filmed on public streets, but they took place on a specially built outdoor studio lot that was made
13:40to look like New York City. And this lot was located in London at Pinewood Studios. It was like four
13:47to five
13:47blocks of just streets and side streets and storefronts, alleyways, just kind of everything you needed
13:54to give the sense of like a full city.
13:57Ooh, movie magic. Great question, India. Uh, let's head back to the States. Missouri,
14:03do you have a question for Destin?
14:04Of course, uh, how is the tone different on this movie compared to the movies that came before it?
14:09The tone of this movie has just shifted with, um, with Peter Parker and, and Ned and MJ. Um,
14:19we started to ask ourselves what type of music would they be listening to? What type of personal
14:26problems would they be going through? And that's also where we landed on the journey of Peter Parker.
14:31You know, when, when you start a character who has, who has literally lost everything, every,
14:37every person that is close to him is now gone. When you start a character in a place at the
14:43beginning
14:44of a movie, it, it kind of sets the tone for you. And that was, uh, the, the hole that
14:51we wanted to
14:52watch Peter learn how to fall out of. And that, that, that became the, the, the tone of, of Brand
14:59New Day.
15:00All right. Let's head to Peter Parker's hometown of New York. Brayden, do you have a question for Nathan?
15:05Hello. Uh, I was curious what your favorite prop or set piece from the movie is that might have gone
15:10unnoticed. I kind of love that question because one of my favorite scenes involving props was the
15:16one in the restaurant and everyone in the scene had some sort of, um, prop, whether it was a teacup
15:23or chopsticks or a piece of food that they were about to eat. When this wave came through and hit
15:28them,
15:28uh, everything that they had in their hands either flew out against the wall or was, uh,
15:34frozen in space with them. It was just a lot of fun to sort of use these props to,
15:39to give the sense of like, of this restaurant really kind of getting hit by this blast wave.
15:43And let's go to Jazzy. Do you have a question for Destin?
15:48Hey, Mr. Destin. So what is the biggest lesson that you hope young people take away from this movie?
15:56I love Spidey in the background there, Jazzy. Thank you.
15:59I, I really hope that young people go and watch this movie and regardless of where they are in
16:07their lives or how they're feeling or, um, I, I do hope that this movie reminds, reminds young people
16:15and I, you know, reminds the part of me and, and who, who, who still feels like this at times,
16:22reminds us that we are not alone in this crazy world, um, where we're, we don't have to walk
16:29through all the ups and downs of life by ourselves. And, and I hope just like what Peter has to
16:36learn
16:36that if, if certain people do feel that way, that they, they, they take that little step to
16:43reaching out to somebody that they love and, and reconnecting.
16:46Well, do you have a, uh, Mrs. Spider-Man?
16:52Do I have a Mrs. Spider-Man? Um.
16:56Wow. That was amazing. We could do this all day guys, but we gotta say goodbye to Destin and Nathan
17:02for now. Thank you guys so, so much for coming.
17:06Thank you. Thanks so much for having us.
17:08All right, folks. Great questions. Amazing to see everyone and to see Destin and Nathan. Um,
17:15but because we're surrounded by the biggest and best Spidey fans in the world, I think we have
17:22to test some of their knowledge. How about some trivia? Yeah. Um, who out there thinks that they
17:28have what it takes to prove they're as smart and nerdy as Peter Parker and Ned Leeds? Do we have
17:33any
17:34contenders? Hmm. I'm seeing a lot of nods and happy faces. That means yes. So let me explain
17:45really quickly how this is going to work. I'm going to throw out some questions out there. They're all
17:50going to have multiple choices for possible answers. And all you have to do is raise your Peter Parker
17:57paddles to indicate whether you think the answer is one, two, three, or four. Those are the multiple
18:04choice options. And by the way, whoever wins, uh, you guys get dragon rights. Okay, let's get started.
18:15Question number one, roughly how many Spider-Man suits did the costume team make? Is it one, four suits,
18:24two, 56 suits, three, 365 suits, or four, eight suits? All right. I'm seeing a lot of paddles in the
18:37air.
18:38The number is 56 suits. Uh, everyone looks like they got it right. Well done, everyone. Uh, really,
18:47really good job. I asked for 57 to be made so I could wear one at night, but they told
18:51me no.
18:51Um, that being said, let's move on to the next question. What Scottish thing had to be recreated
19:00to look like a New York thing? One, the pigeons. Two, the cakes. Three, the bricks. Or four, parking tickets.
19:13All right. Let's see some paddles. Uh, the correct answer is three, the bricks.
19:20The bricks. They had to craft the bricks to make them look like New York bricks. That's crazy, right?
19:25So, which city stood in for New York during the big car chases? Is it one, Las Vegas,
19:34two, Glasgow, three, Venice, or four, Blackpool? All right. Let's see here.
19:43Ooh. Correct answer is number two, Glasgow, which means a lot of you got that right. Well done. Well done.
19:52What was outside to help it look like the subway train was moving? Is it one, a huge screen,
20:01two, the crew sprinting back and forth, three, a giant disco ball, or four, a long bed sheet?
20:15Correct answer is one, a huge screen. Well done. Wow. We got some experts out here. This is crazy.
20:24And the winner is everyone. You all know your stuff. I am so impressed. We have so many spider
20:31experts on there, and you guys did phenomenal. Well done, everyone. How about you guys at home?
20:37What did you do? Did you get everything right? Now it's showtime. I want to give a huge shout out
20:45to
20:45our very special guests, Destin, Daniel Cretton, Nathan, and all of you friendly neighborhood fans
20:51joining us from all across the globe. Every single one of you guys is the reason why we do this.
20:56So thank you so, so much. Sit back, relax, grab your popcorn, and join us in watching Peter Parker's
21:04most thrilling adventure to date, Spider-Man Brand New Day. Watch it at home now and check out all the
21:10amazing special features. You're not going to want to miss this. See you guys. Roll it.
21:26Big potato stuff.
21:30It definitely wouldn't be the movie that it is without Tom Holland.
21:36The shot has seven people on wire flying up. That last one was money. God, that's cool.
21:46We did luck out with the cast of this movie. Tell you what, kid. She's been a real thrill for
21:52me.
21:52I'm blushing. This has been such a cool environment to step into.
21:59I can hear you breathing.
22:05We ain't messing around on Spider-Man 4.
22:25You do not mind, Joeuesta.
22:25At this point of action, I think I'm too pumped to get you.
