00:00All right, so you teased the NFL game last night, Thursday Night Football.
00:04I watched the first half when I got home,
00:08and then I watched some of the highlights in the second half
00:12when I woke up this morning.
00:13Oh, my gosh.
00:15I mean, just an awful performance for Dallas.
00:18You see how bitter Jerry Jones was in his box and his suite?
00:20He looked salty.
00:22Did you see how salty Dak was when he was walking back to the locker room
00:25and one of the construction or administrative guys?
00:28I think it was a stadium employee.
00:31Yeah, a stadium employee basically said,
00:33embarrassing, loud enough for him to hear,
00:34and he definitely gave him the death stare for about five seconds.
00:38Well, he said that the guy said it,
00:40and then when Dak turned around and looked at him, he looked away.
00:43He didn't want to know who it was.
00:46And then when Dak kept walking, he said something else.
00:50And I don't know if you guys heard Dak's presser after.
00:52I thought he gave a pretty good answer.
00:55And look, you can use a word like embarrassing,
00:57but he said it's the NFL.
00:59It's a Todd Bowles defense.
01:00I don't want to disrespect that team over there
01:03to say it's an embarrassing loss.
01:05All that said, they're supposed to win a game when they're at home
01:08and they're favored by eight and a half.
01:11Big faves.
01:12Probably a lot of survivor losers taking the Cowboys.
01:15Look, backup quarterbacks so far this year,
01:17I don't know what the record is exactly.
01:20I think it's something around the nine and three mark.
01:23And Daniels was pretty good, 19 of 25.
01:26He had a 110 rating, only sacked once, didn't throw a pick.
01:30He ran for some big first downs.
01:33I mean, they just couldn't stop Bucky Irving.
01:34Bucky Irving was slicing and dicing that defense last night.
01:38Dallas missed 14 tackles.
01:41Their DB bland, he had busted coverage on Johnson's long touchdown.
01:49He also dropped what would have been a pick six when it was 24-16.
01:55Explain to me why Schottenheimer goes for two when they make it 24-16
02:01instead of just kicking the extra point to bring it within seven.
02:04Analytics.
02:05Analytics can go F themselves.
02:08We've already gone through this analytics stuff.
02:11I mean, we did it with the commanders a couple times.
02:12But you see it more and more.
02:14It doesn't make any sense.
02:16I mean, can you imagine if they would have scored late in that game
02:22to make it 24-22?
02:24Then they'd have a chance to go for two again.
02:26Right, but they wouldn't have to if they would have kicked the field goal
02:29or kicked the extra point.
02:30They'd tie the game and possibly go to overtime.
02:32Maybe they're worried about blocked kicks
02:35because I think Aubrey's had two kicks blocked.
02:37They've had blocking issues.
02:39But look, the problem is the Dallas Cowboys didn't run the football yesterday.
02:43If you look at it, I think they ran for a combined 50 yards.
02:46They were outrushed 241-50.
02:48That's the story of the game right there.
02:49He didn't run the football.
02:50Jason already mentioned it.
02:51They had 14 missed tackles.
02:53Now here's the upside for Washington Commanders fans.
02:56The NFC East stinks.
02:57The NFC East, nobody wants it.
03:00The Cowboys have this great offense,
03:03or you thought they had a great offense against Todd Bowles' defense.
03:05Not so much.
03:06But they seem to have potential.
03:08People want to think that they can win the division.
03:11They're 2-3.
03:12The Eagles seem to be falling apart at the seams.
03:15They're losing players to retirement.
03:17They're trading guys.
03:20They're undermanned because of injuries like a lot of teams.
03:23They're 2-2.
03:24The Giants are 3-1.
03:26Nobody believes in them.
03:27The Commanders, if they can get a win, they're right in the mix.
03:30Yeah, but the big word there is if.
03:34No, do you know, I think I heard this this morning.
03:36But you're right, the NFC East blows.
03:38Take a look at the win totals for each of the four teams right now.
03:41The updated win totals for each of the four teams in the division.
03:46I think the highest projected win total is 8.5.
03:50So Vegas doesn't believe, basically,
03:54that anybody's going to have more than nine wins in the division.
03:57Well, why should you?
03:57If I'm looking at what they've done through the first four games of the season,
04:01you shouldn't think that they're going to win more than eight or nine games.
04:04Philly's offense is falling apart.
04:05As you mentioned, they're dealing away offensive linemen,
04:08and they're retiring.
04:09The Giants, I mean, they're being led by Jameis Winston.
04:12Nobody believes he's going to be the long-term solution for the season.
04:16And, you know, Dallas was kind of embarrassing at home last night.
04:19Like, it is there for the taking.
04:22All right, so there's an extra game, obviously, because they played Thursday.
04:25But the total number of wins in the division right now is 8.
04:29Right.
04:30Okay.
04:30Now, that's not the worst.
04:32The NFC South total number of wins is 6.
04:36All right?
04:37Okay.
04:37The AFC East total number of wins is 6.
04:41But, you know, divisions like the AFC North with Cleveland, Baltimore,
04:46Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, it's 10.
04:47So, I mean, there's some divisions that are – AFC South, 5.
04:53I mean, there's some bad teams slash divisions out there.
04:57And making it worse for the Cowboys, C.D. Lamb left with a quad injury.
05:01Yeah, he wasn't on the field late in that game.
05:03I know.
05:03So, that's nothing but good news for the Commanders.
05:06I mean, it's just unbelievable.
05:08The injuries to the big-name players in the first five weeks,
05:13I mean, I'm sure it's happened before.
05:14I just – I can't remember it.
05:17Yeah, it's been like an epidemic.
05:19JP, the number of injuries to the big-name players, the all-pros,
05:24not pro-bowlers, all-pros, is unbelievable.
05:26Seems like a lot.
05:27My point about the NFC East, whether or not they have the most wins
05:30or least wins right now is, do you project any of the NFC East teams
05:36to win double-digit games?
05:38I'm going to say yes just because there's so many games left.
05:41But if they don't, I won't be surprised.
05:44Right.
05:44Wouldn't shock me if none of them hit the 10-win mark.
05:48Right.
05:48Yeah.
05:48So, you could win the division with nine, potentially,
05:52because nobody's going to say that any of those teams are going to win 12 or 13.
05:55No.
05:55No, no, no, no.
05:56They're just all mediocre right now.
05:58But if the Giants beat Washington and moved to 4-1,
06:00they could probably get to 10, even with a backup quarterback.
06:05I mean, it could happen.
06:06Maybe.
06:06But, you know, you brought this up the other day.
06:09They could have easily, easily lost to Cam Ward.
06:12Yeah, true.
06:14But he threw an interception at the end.
06:16But the division, it's just wide open.
06:19Hopefully, Washington wins and makes it even more wide open.
06:23But, man, that's just a – I get it.
06:25Any given Sunday slash Thursday.
06:29But that's just a bad, bad loss for Dallas to lose to an 0-3 team or 0-4 team,
06:34whatever they were, and a backup quarterback.
06:36Let's be real.
06:37Their head coach, Schottenheimer.
06:39Schotty.
06:39Didn't somebody say he was going to win Coach of the Year?
06:42Wasn't that one of the bold predictions somebody made?
06:44Not us.
06:45I don't remember.
06:46I mean, I wouldn't doubt it.
06:47Yeah.
06:47But he seems very mediocre.
06:50Right.
06:50Some of these young coaches, when they come up, you realize, all right,
06:54they're pretty special.
06:54You realize it kind of early.
06:56Whether it was McVay.
06:58Schottenheimer's been around a long time.
06:59And he's not as young anymore.
07:03He's not like a 30-year-old hotshot.
07:05I was just kind of surprised at Schottenheimer's reaction post-game presser.
07:09I know these coaches don't always get crazy,
07:11and I'm not going to show you how pissed off they were.
07:14But I would be pissed if I was Brian Schottenheimer.
07:18You've got to have that game against a guy making his second start ever.
07:21And he was asked what his reaction was.
07:24I should have told Matt to grab it.
07:26But he was asked what his reaction was.
07:28And he said, yeah, very disappointing.
07:29That's all he said.
07:30Right.
07:31Very disappointing.
07:31And then he goes into it.
07:32I would have been – I would have said, I'm effing pissed.
07:36Yeah.
07:37That we lost to Tampa with a backup quarterback at home on a Thursday night.
07:41It's embarrassing.
07:41I'm embarrassed by the performance tonight.
07:43Yeah.
07:44And I had an embarrassing performance as the head coach.
07:47And I would have said, I agree with the stadium worker who said it was embarrassing to Dak.
07:51I agree with that guy.
07:52Yep.
07:53Just amazing.
07:54Jerry probably would have fired me.
07:56But that's how pissed off I was.
07:57It's just amazing.
07:58They scored – I believe they've scored the most points in the NFL.
08:01And they've given up the most points in the NFL.
08:03Yeah.
08:04Heading into the game, they were averaging over 30 points a game.
08:06Obviously, yesterday they were contained.
08:08Dak has a couple of interceptions.
08:10They didn't run the football.
08:11So, the offense – Todd Bowles is known for having great defenses.
08:15They scored 138.
08:17The offense was stifled.
08:18And they've given up 136.
08:20Mm-hmm.
08:22Amazing.
08:23Yeah.
08:23Hey, my NFC South pick, Tampa Bay to win, is live now.
08:27Got to win.
08:28Man, my playoff predictions are looking nubs.
08:32Not looking very good.
08:34All right.
08:34So, Major League Baseball playoffs last night.
08:37Cleveland gets a 9-5 win over Chicago.
08:43Chicago had to pull their starter, Hagan Smith, who walked the bases loaded in the first –
08:51got two outs, didn't even get through the first inning.
08:53Walked the bases loaded.
08:54Puckering.
08:55It must have been.
08:56And then they brought in former Nat Eric Freed, or excuse me, Fetty.
09:01And so, they brought him in.
09:02I don't know how many innings he actually pitched.
09:04Let me see how many he actually threw.
09:06Eric Fetty's now 33 years old.
09:07Fetty, three and two-thirds.
09:08Three and two-thirds.
09:09You think we're not all dying?
09:11He's 33 now.
09:12Yeah, yeah, yeah.
09:12I remember he's a young up-and-comer.
09:14Yeah.
09:14I mean, there were a ton of pitchers used in this game.
09:17I think total, there was about 11 – maybe 13 pitchers used.
09:2213 or 14 pitchers used in this game.
09:24But Cleveland gets the 9-5 win to tie the series.
09:27So, they're back to Cleveland for game five and tied.
09:31Major League Baseball is an interesting story that came out yesterday slash last night.
09:38Oh, the proposal?
09:39The proposal that they want to drop the regular season schedule from 162 to 154.
09:45Wipe away those tears cakes.
09:47I'm not the baseball.
09:48Less baseball.
09:49I'm not the stats purist like Drabb T-shirt is.
09:51I know he's made this passionate argument in the past.
09:55No, I just meant wipe away the tears.
09:56You'd have eight less games cakes.
09:58I know.
09:58I'd be distraught.
09:59How would I go on?
10:00And they want to do this.
10:01There hasn't been a 154-game schedule since pre-1960.
10:05All right.
10:06So, this would be a huge change in the schedule.
10:10But there aren't any playoff games.
10:10They would extend the divisional series to seven games.
10:18All right.
10:18So, right now, it's five.
10:20Now, the wild card would stay at three, the best of three, but they would expand the divisional series.
10:25They also would allow the top seed in both the wild card round and the divisional round to choose their
10:31opponent.
10:32So, the three seed would choose if they want to play the five or the six.
10:37And then the top seed, the one seed, and the divisional would choose what opponent they want to play.
10:42I know you hate this part about the proposal.
10:44Monday would be a standard off day for most teams.
10:47For most teams.
10:48It'd be tough for you to bet.
10:48That's the other thing they want to do.
10:49Betting slate would be light.
10:51They want to prevent those, you know, three straight weeks of games that some teams have to play.
10:55That's understandable.
10:56And so, Monday would be a standard off day for most teams with the exception of potentially televising one or
11:03two national broadcast games.
