00:00I really love my job.
00:02They have very broad shoulders, so to have shoulders on top of it, I would look like a foot soldier,
00:07I think.
00:08Did he really say shoulder pads? God, is he witty.
00:11Hi, I'm Lucy. Love to see you. This film is amazing.
00:15It's all about the American dream and how it can go spectacularly wrong.
00:17How has your success, idea of success changed as you've got older?
00:22How has my idea of success changed as I've gotten older?
00:29That's an interesting question.
00:31I think my idea of success to me has become more personal, I think, as I've gotten older.
00:40I think when I was younger, my idea of success potentially had more to do with how I was reflecting
00:47out into the world
00:49and comparing myself to others and you spend more time, I think, looking out as a young person
00:55and trying to take sort of cues from your surroundings to understand what success is.
01:02And I think as I've gotten older, I see it more as something that's a personal journey
01:07and not something that can be defined by what's happening outside.
01:11Exactly. And Adam was on this. You obviously know him from a previous amazing marriage story.
01:16Was it like going home, seeing him again?
01:20Yeah, I think in a way, yeah, it was.
01:23I mean, we have shared such intimate work together that, you know, just coming back together
01:29and doing more intimate work feels lived in in a great way.
01:35Yeah, and your character really shows the fragility of life.
01:37Did you come away with anything after this character?
01:41What did I come away with after playing this character?
01:45I think, you know, the character is really someone who is, I think, really selfless
01:53and is, you know, someone who, I think, it gave me an opportunity to reflect on a woman's condition
02:04and the sacrifices that we made.
02:07And, you know, it's just an interesting, you know, it's a kind of interesting reminder to spend time in that
02:15place.
02:16Live your life, yeah. You're amazing. Thank you so much.
02:18I hope you get all the awards.
02:20I really love my job. I'm really lucky that way. I love my job. I understand my job, I think,
02:29the more I do it.
02:30And I have such a deep appreciation for all the creatives that come together to make, you know, a film,
02:37a play, a photograph, all of those things.
02:40I mean, all that medium of entertainment are in those ways. I just really enjoy the collaborative process so much.
02:47Yeah, of course. Obviously, I'm a big Marvel fan. I had to ask Avengers to just become, or Avengers to
02:52become the highest person movie of all time.
02:54What's your reaction to that? Did you notice?
02:56No, but I think, I mean, it's, you know, I think it's a fantastic film. You know, I remember when
03:03it, you know, seeing it for the first time, I was so amazed at how emotional it was and that
03:10you could have such a deeply, you could, you know, it took all the history that we've had with those
03:15characters that we've had for a decade of time.
03:17And, and, and, and really, you know, I think delivered in a way for fans that was, like, very profound.
03:26And also, it looks amazing. It's like a movie that shouldn't work, but it somehow works. And I, I mean,
03:32I'm glad that audiences still enjoy it as much as they do because it's a, it's a great film and
03:37I loved making it.
03:37It's a cinematic experience. And just very quickly, Adam Snow joined the MCU. Could we see all the previous films
03:42like maybe Jonathan Bailey?
03:43Oh, cute.
03:44I would love that.
03:45I want to see Jonathan Bailey in every universe.
03:49Lovely to see you. Can you feel better?
03:51Yeah. Allergies. I told the same thing to everybody.
03:55I did.
03:55Oh, cute.
03:56No, maybe a couple.
03:57Oh, I love that. So let's go back to the 80s. What would you struggle with, do you think, for
04:0124 hours, if you've got to live in the 80s again?
04:03Yeah. The shoulder pads. Yeah. I already have very broad shoulders. So to have shoulders on top of it, I
04:09would look like a foot soldier, I think.
04:11He'd have to turn them down a little bit, James. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
04:14What about who you would not go into business with in your own family? Anyone in particular?
04:19Going into business with anyone in my family is a bad idea? Anybody. All of my family.
04:25I love that.
04:26Yeah. I don't know that there's anybody I would go into business with. So I got nothing. All of them.
04:32All of them would be a bad idea.
04:33I see Scarlett down for this one. Talking about family. Was it just being home again, being on set with
04:38her? Because obviously you've been there before.
04:41Yeah. I mean, if you can get it, which is the difference between, big difference between theatre and film is
04:46you have a lot of time in theatre to be with people, you know, a month at least.
04:50Unless you sometimes just have two days or you're showing up on set and acting with them. So we didn't
04:55have to, we didn't need a lot of time to feel comfortable with each other. And usually people work best
05:00from being comfortable. So it was, it felt easy.
05:03Yeah, amazing. I hope you win things for this, Adam. You were amazing.
05:06Oh, thank you. I didn't tell you earlier, but I really did.
05:07No, no, it's all right. Thank you. Thank you very much.
05:09Oh, I love this color. I told you that.
05:11I know. Thanks, babes. Have you had a good day?
05:14Well, it's all right. I mean, it's, yeah.
05:17I would ask you, you're back in the 1980s.
05:20I'm kind of freezing though, if you must know.
05:21I know. Let's just do some star jumps again.
05:22I know. I didn't anticipate it being this cold.
05:25What's the one thing from the 1980s, if you had to live for 24 hours in there again, that you'd
05:29struggle with, do you think?
05:32That I have to struggle with? I don't know, getting murdered. What do you mean?
05:37It's like the most dangerous city of all time back then. That's what I would struggle with.
05:42Yeah. Don't you think?
05:43Well, um, Adam said shoulder pads. A little bit different.
05:46Oh, you mean, all right, well, he's going to be, yeah, because here's the difference. He's witty and I'm, I'm
05:50a ridiculous person.
05:52But you're a very, very good writer and director, I must say.
05:54I already liked you. Go ahead.
05:55Thank you very much indeed for bringing Scarlett Miles and this guy together, Adam.
06:00Who kept you on your toes the most?
06:03Oh, it was all of the above. Are you kidding? These guys, they're tough on me.
06:07I mean, they're great, but you have to watch, you know, you have to pay attention.
06:11Who's toughest on me? I don't know. All of the above.
06:14Just say Scarlett. She knows what she likes.
06:17Shall I say Scarlett?
06:18Yeah, yeah, do that.
06:18No, but they're tough on you in a great way.
06:20Yeah.
06:20Because they're fantastic and they do different things in different takes.
06:23So you have to pay attention.
06:24Yeah. And I really love New York.
06:26You can't just phone it in.
06:26I've seen with a black and white cookie in it one day, please.
06:30Because I need, I need that.
06:31A black and white cookie.
06:32Yeah, the famous ones.
06:32So I'm really bad at those because I eat down the center because I want both, both.
06:38I want them at the same time in each bite.
06:41Yeah.
06:42So it winds up with like an all white and all like brown part.
06:46There you go.
06:46And my kids want to kill me.
06:48I love it.
06:48So no, you wouldn't want my black and white cookie.
06:50Thank you so much.
06:52Did he really say shoulder pads?
06:54God, is he witty.
