00:00Hello from Milwaukee where we had a rare sighting during the Dodgers workout before game one of the
00:04National League Championship Series. Shohei Otani took batting practice on the field. That's not
00:09something the two-way star normally does, but coming off an NLDS where he struggled at the
00:13plate going just two for 13 while continuing to battle his right arm and left knee injuries,
00:19Otani was on the field with the rest of his teammates taking swings against the velocity
00:23machine in preparation for facing hard-throwing Brewers pitcher Jacob Mizorowski in game one of
00:28this best-of-seven NLCS on Sunday. Here's what manager Dave Roberts and hitting coach Aaron Bates
00:33had to say about Otani as he tries to find his swing as the Dodgers progress through October.
00:39I think that against the Braves I saw some you know outside of sale I thought he did a good
00:46job of
00:46controlling the zone. I saw some better swings. You know there's nothing right now I'm going to
00:55hang my hat on outside of I just believe in the person and the talent. I do think that getting
01:02a
01:02couple days you know out of a game environment to kind of work on his swing, rest the body, rest
01:09the
01:10mine is a benefit.
01:24I just try not to flip the barrel so soon, get comfortable in the setup so he feels like he's
01:29in a
01:29good position to swing the bat but mostly just not have his top hand kind of roll over too soon
01:33you
01:33could say and then just kind of still sticking his finish and that helps him reverse engineer,
01:37keeps the effort level low and obviously just on the ball longer. I think once the effort level
01:41comes back down then you'll see the ball deeper, see the ball longer. You know it's hard to tell
01:45someone 70 percent or 80 percent. Not everyone knows what 80 percent is if they're swinging like
01:51that so I think with him holding this finish kind of allows him to feel what he wants to feel
01:54as far
01:54as the effort level goes. Don't forget to watch Dodgers Post live after every Dodgers playoff game
