00:00Well, you know, this is part of the gig.
00:03You don't get to have victory celebrations every week,
00:07but I honestly felt like this one today was going to be one of those.
00:12I said, oh, Wes, looks like we're going to be in good shape to make a move,
00:16especially when those around you fail.
00:18You get the Eagles lose.
00:20Not that you should relish someone else's tragic event.
00:25You should be into your own, handle your business, we're at home.
00:31The weather, Wes, I don't think it was a real factor.
00:36It wasn't perfect, but it wasn't.
00:37I mean, both people on the same field,
00:40it was not like it was devastating to the point where it controlled the outcome.
00:45They had a hot hand.
00:47They had two hot receivers.
00:50We had guys that played well.
00:52As Coach Gibbs used to say, they fought their guts out.
00:56We had some protection issues.
00:58They made adjustments to that.
01:00We needed to get more out of the running game.
01:01I thought we pressed in that second half and got a little bit better than that,
01:05but it was just not good enough.
01:08And the bottom line to it is that it wasn't good enough.
01:13Dave out in Waldorf on line two.
01:16Welcome to the postgame show.
01:18Hey, Mr. Rick, Doc Walker, what up, though?
01:23You know, it's getting kicked in the gut, man,
01:26and having a game that was winnable, taken out of your grasp,
01:31and pilot error doesn't make it any easier,
01:34but that's what the league is all about.
01:36Listen, when they told Dak Prescott embarrassing the other night,
01:40nah, this is the true definition of embarrassing.
01:44The true definition.
01:46When Dan Quinn and David Blau and the coaching staff walk to the back of the
01:50locker room today, they need to yell, embarrassing, man.
01:53Listen, when people are failing to mention the concept,
01:56I totally understand the concept.
01:58They were trying to get Jay and Daniel to move the ball to the left side of the
02:02hash to get a better position for the field goal kicker.
02:06I totally understand it.
02:07Just the execution was terrible.
02:09And I think you have to blame that on coaching.
02:13I think you have to reiterate to your young quarterback when he goes out on the field,
02:18listen, simply just go out there, get on the center, take three steps to the left,
02:23take a knee, get back on the ball, and let's spike the ball.
02:26Field goal team out there, we can win the game.
02:29You got an opportunity to kick the field goal.
02:31So I don't know if you blame this on the players.
02:34I know it's situational football, but I think coaches have to reiterate to the team
02:40before they go out there in that situation what is going on.
02:44And I just think everybody was lost.
02:46And you said it earlier, Doc, the reaction that Dan Quinn had at the end of the game
02:51with him just throwing his headset, the board and everything, it shows.
02:55It was terrible execution.
02:56No, I'm not going to scream.
02:58Everybody's been screaming, fire Dan Quinn, fire Dan Quinn.
03:00I mean, if we fire him right now, where do we go?
03:02I mean, the best we can go is probably Anthony Lynn.
03:05I mean, running back coach, he used to be a good coach.
03:08You don't need to fire anybody.
03:08You just need to do your job.
03:10Yeah, just do your job.
03:11It's that simple, Doc.
03:12Just do your job, man.
03:13So this is the total definition of embarrassing.
03:16I'm not going to throw my hat out and just say, you know, the season is over.
03:19It's any given Sunday.
03:20Still a lot of football left, but true definition of embarrassing.
03:23Thank you for taking my call.
03:24Appreciate you, man.
03:24Great call.
03:25Wes says he nailed it.
03:26I mean, if we were giving out awards, we would definitely have to give him an award for that
03:31being an astute caller.
03:33Drew, you're under a lot of pressure, Stud.
03:34You've got to follow that on 7.
03:36What's up?
03:38Yeah, Doc.
03:38I appreciate you letting us callers call in and the therapy session here because I'm about
03:46to lose my mind with this.
03:48Yeah, man.
03:50And I do have to thank you for all the tweets during the game.
03:53You know, I saw you post towards the end, does anybody want to win this?
03:59And I guess nobody did.
04:00Yeah.
04:00No, on the X-Cast, and it's a whole lot of fun, you know, linking up with people in real
04:06time, going through this thing as it happens, not after the fact, woulda, shoulda, coulda,
04:12but in real time, I think the type of collaboration that we have is good.
04:18I enjoy the heck out of it because it keeps you into the game.
04:23It's like being there.
04:25Even though we're not there, it makes you feel like you're there and you're in the moment
04:29of it.
04:29So thanks to everybody that participates because it'd be boring as hell if I'm by myself,
04:36but I'm never alone in this.
04:37And it's, unfortunately, we got to deal with this when it doesn't work out our way.
04:43I mean, it was some nail-biting moments in this.
04:46I got caught off guard because I could have handled him missing a field goal that I could
04:52live with.
04:53What I am struggling with is not getting a chance to try it.
04:59That, to me, and when this is all said and done and it's over, the show's over, it'll
05:05be interesting tonight how I deal with this because right now I'm working.
05:09So I'm not going to fall apart while I'm on the air, but I'm really wrestling with the
05:15idea is that I need a heavy bag.
05:18To have a heavy bag at the house, I'd go and punch through it because these are, it's
05:24hard to get in these positions.
05:26We lost five games in a row, Coach Gibbs' first year here, and we fought out of that
05:31and we missed the playoffs by one game.
05:34When you dig a hole for yourself, it's hard getting out of it.
05:39This is pilot error.
05:41The Giants didn't have a damn thing to do with this.
05:44We let this one get away.
05:46And if we don't fix the issue and be accountable for it, it could happen again.
05:53Because every week is a whole new battle in this league.
05:56Just like we had people that were snickering when the Eagles lost, I heard it, I saw it
06:01on X.
06:03Don't ever celebrate somebody else's despair.
06:05Deal with yourself.
06:06We got to deal with our issues right now.
06:08And if they don't deal with this properly, it will rise its ugly head again.
06:14Appreciate the phone call.
06:15We still got Eddie out in Southeast on line three.
06:20Hey, Doc.
06:21What's up, brother?
06:22Great show.
06:23Yeah, it's a great show, Doc.
06:24Hey, listen, you know, I like what you said about it's a lot easier to say things when
06:32you've got a hot dog in your mouth and a beer in your hand.
06:35Yeah, or you can be an expert.
06:38You're an expert.
06:39No doubt about that.
06:40If you have drunk and your gut's hanging over your belt, yeah, you would know it all.
06:44But those people out there in the moment, in real time, they were battling.
06:50I mean, to get that punch out, to get that punch out, to get the ball back, man, it's
06:57incredible work that was done today.
07:00Right.
07:01I mean, as much as I want to be proud of what this team is becoming, it has potential.
07:06Now, what they're going to do with it, I have no idea.
07:09But don't tell me they're not capable of doing something.
07:12They showed they're capable of.
07:14They'll fight.
07:15They'll get after it.
07:16They'll make plays.
07:18But in the end, it wasn't good enough.
07:20And to have it go down to this, that way, that's what they have to deal with.
07:25And we're going to find out who they really are now.
07:27All them catch slangs and quotes, now we're going to find out.
07:32Are you going to point fingers?
07:34Are you going to do the blame game?
07:35We can do that as fans.
07:37But people within that building now, they got to ask themselves, you see the Giants?
07:42They celebrated the moment because they knew their butts were beaten.
07:48We had to take it as an L because it's not a tie for us.
07:52It was an L.
07:57Wesley, I can't put in any better words than that.
07:59I mean, that's it.
08:00And it happens, man.
08:02That's what makes this league intoxicating.
08:06It makes it so you can't get this out your system.
08:09That's why it is so exciting.
08:13And it is so addictive because of what this thing brings.
08:20We got Coach D on the line?
08:22Yes, sir.
08:23Hey, Coach, explain it.
08:26I want to reference a long time, the original Coach Beatrice.
08:34Yes.
08:34Old man Beatrice used to say, more games in this league are lost than they are won.
08:42Yep.
08:43And today was a perfect example.
08:45Sure did.
08:46Perfect example, my friend.
08:48And, again, yes, the players fought their butt off and their guts out, like Coach Diaz used to say.
08:58But at that point, I think the coaches have to say, all right, I got y'all back now.
09:05Why wasn't the special teams unit out there?
09:13Yeah, well, I'll tell you what, and you make a good point.
09:15Again, we're going to go out live to the post-game press conference and see if we can get some
09:22answers on that.
09:23We'll be joined by the one and only Denton Day after the press conference.
09:28So, stick and stay.
09:29We appreciate you here on the Burgundy and Gold post-game show right here on Team 980, 106.7 The
09:35Fan.
