00:00How are you doing?
00:00Hi, lovely to meet you.
00:01I'm Matthew of Banshevis.
00:02Hey mate, you alright?
00:03Yeah, great.
00:04So great to be here.
00:05So great to be here.
00:06I'd just love to know how this all started.
00:07So how did you come to meet Adam and how did you become attached to this project?
00:12Am I holding this or are you holding this?
00:14Whichever you prefer, honestly.
00:15I'll hold it if you...
00:16Okay, cool.
00:17I'll hold it.
00:18It's really small, I'm sorry.
00:21So yes, I stalked Adam.
00:23I saw Adam in Under The Skin in 2014.
00:28And yeah, just loved his performance in that film.
00:31Loved that film so much.
00:34And I just thought a lot about him, I guess subconsciously, like in the next like 10 years that went
00:41past.
00:41I just thought about, I wonder what other films he's going to be in.
00:45I wonder how much of his own personal experience of life he brought to that part.
00:52And then I finally put the courage to email him, email his agent.
00:55And then we hung out together.
00:58And quite quickly, it was like the film that both of us wanted to make was kind of born, I
01:04guess.
01:04It was like a film about Adam.
01:06But very much about movies, about the films that inspired him and guided him in his life.
01:11And also it was going to be about this girl who really plays a big part in the film.
01:16And that was really important to Adam.
01:18So yeah, it kind of just happened and quite quickly and easily just kind of got done.
01:23And just speaking to Adam now, he seems like someone who's so wise and rich with life experience.
01:29Very wise.
01:30I was just wondering if there's like a particular lesson you've learned from working with Adam Pearson?
01:34Like something he's taught you or something you've gleaned from him?
01:37Many things.
01:38Many things.
01:39Many things.
01:40Many things.
01:40I would say that, I would say Adam's taught me that kindness and laughter are like superpowers.
01:50And you can like overcome more things than you think by like making a joke.
01:56Like kind of finding the positive and just like steering away from the negative.
02:03That's what he's taught me.
02:04Like I've been in very intimate spaces with Adam during so many joyful times but also some more tricky times.
02:13And I think Adam finding a way to laugh, make someone else laugh, that's like really inspiring.
02:21I think that genuinely like changes things.
02:23So he's taught me to try and laugh more basically.
02:27And finally, is there like a particular memory you have about making the film like a fun memory
02:32or something that stood out about the production of it that I'd love to know?
02:37Yeah, fun memory.
02:39It doesn't have to be fun, just memory.
02:40A memory, a memory, a memory.
02:42It can be fun if you like it.
02:45I think being in New York with Adam when he was shooting a different man, that was pretty amazing.
02:51That was pretty special.
02:52Actually Adam had like talked about the fact that in New York, before we've been there together, he had been
02:58there before and he was saying
03:00my experience of New York is that people like strangers come up to you in the street, everyone wants to
03:07speak.
03:07Obviously London was a bit like that too but he was at New York, he was like another level of
03:10that.
03:11So I was intrigued to be like, I wonder what would it be like being in New York with Adam?
03:15And it was true.
03:16It was like, so many people coming up to him and wanting to hang out with him and wanting to
03:21like crack jokes with him and learn about his career and his life.
03:27We filmed a lot in Adam's house and I promised Adam's mum on about 15 occasions this is our last
03:33day of filming.
03:35And then we get on turning up with the crew and actually recently Adam was like, Ed, my mum thinks
03:39the film is still happening.
03:41Thankfully we have a premiere, we're no longer filming.
03:46But yeah, it was a good time, it was a joy, it was a joy.
03:49Excellent, thank you so much. It's been a pleasure to speak to you.
03:51Thank you sir. Cheers mate.
