00:00i had what alcoholics refer to as a moment of clarity you watch it and you're super into it
00:04it's like really exciting the storyline's good and then you finish it i'm looking at the film
00:08and i'm just like i was watching it stop calling them films that is gross and those people are
00:13getting paid oh i felt that way watching this one back on friday it's post-hut clarity here
00:20on sean and rj on 105 through the fan no sean sharif today he will be back wednesday i'm bobby
00:26belt rj choppy is here we got peyton russell running things and we've got aiden butler running
00:31the fan cam this was uh a brutal showing for the cowboys every bit as brutal as what you might
00:39expect and how it looked live yeah move on uh nope i don't think we can move on from this
00:44one because
00:44it was embarrassing one might say uh you hear that open there chop and that clip we have there is
00:53from
00:53a internet skit the one where he's talking about you're really into it it's a good storyline
00:58and then i'm looking at the film and i'm going i was watching that because that's disgusting and
01:04those people are getting paid i i felt that way more than ever watching this one back of like that's
01:10just gross and these people are getting paid how does that happen uh this was absolute domination
01:17in a way that has not happened to the cowboys this season even even the giants game wasn't as
01:24gross to look back at as this one was um we'll start things off with one of the first issues
01:31you faced
01:32and it looked it was good on the first drive but there there was some rust that tyler smith was
01:39knocking off and the offensive line is a it's such a like weakest link unit and it's so big on
01:51unit cohesion and everybody clicking into place and everybody playing off of each other and
01:58communicating the right way that when that's reintroduced or when somebody else is reintroduced
02:04and you're playing alongside somebody you haven't played alongside all season even if you've played with
02:09them a bunch before like you have with tyler smith it can naturally introduce some some issues in
02:17terms of knowing what to pick up what to handle dallas has had trouble all year with twists and stunts
02:21that continued to be the case in this game last thursday shouts uh twists and shouts those two yeah
02:27the twists were making them shout because they were getting worked over in that they've had those
02:31problems all year uh and they continued with tyler smith back in there some communication issues
02:36some some problems understanding who's picking up what uh so there was some rust to knock off for
02:42sure it flashed at times where tyler smith looked really really good and he and tyler guyton worked
02:46really really well in unison and on some of these combo blocks with run game stuff and uh it was
02:53it
02:54was positive in a lot of ways and i think it'll be positive moving forward but little rusty and part
03:00of
03:00what you were looking at here in this game because of those issues and we referenced it a little bit
03:06on friday dac is one of the best in the nfl at pre-snap diagnosis everybody will tell you that
03:15and
03:15i know there will be people on the fan text right now who are gonna go well why does he
03:19suck then or
03:20no he's not i'm telling you the league will tell you what he's best at is figuring out what's coming
03:27um there was years ago they were the cowboys were down in austin for pre-draft stuff and uh
03:38apparently there was a player who had asked uh brian schottenheimer back when he was the offensive
03:42coordinator there was a player who had asked him what's it like playing with dac like asked him
03:47that at the pro day and shoddy had told him if you want to be put in the best possible
03:54position to
03:54succeed you want to play with dac prescott because dac is the best i've ever seen at lining people up
04:00and putting them in the exact right play for what we're looking at and that's where he's got a lot
04:07of success he said best he's ever seen at pre-snap putting them in the right play that knowing what
04:13what's coming and putting them right there um because there's a difference in knowing it and reading it and
04:19then also just getting everybody lined up and knowing all right these are our options let's put
04:23them in this let's do this and he he's always excelled at that being able to recognize what the
04:28defense was going to do bowls had his head spinning and then todd bowls does that a lot with
04:34a lot of the blitz packages he brings and things it's difficult to tell all the time who's coming
04:40like he's got these guys all up at the line of scrimmage you got to figure out all right who's
04:44dropping who's actually rushing wink martindale used to do a lot of that um so try to figure out
04:49which one of these guys come and try to identify which one it is dac has had success doing it
04:53there
04:53have been other games dac has not had success with it dac really struggled against the bowls defense
04:57uh in the opener several years ago when he broke his thumb in the opener uh this was one of
05:03those
05:03games where he just had a really tough time identifying which rushers were coming where to pick up the
05:11blitz uh who was going to be dropping bowls did a lot to really really i think confuse him now
05:17dac said
05:17postgame that it wasn't anything exotic wasn't anything he hasn't seen before and that's true
05:23in terms of ultimately what the play was they were things he's seen before but the way it's disguised and
05:30the way he he tricked his read was was really well done from todd bowls and ultimately what put the
05:38buccaneers in a position to frustrate dallas as much as they did and i think a lot of it caused
05:43some happy feet um mechanics weren't always as clean i think a lot of it caused throws to sail
05:51um because he's trying to get the ball out quicker than he needs to because he thinks a rush is
05:54coming
05:54that isn't or rush ends up coming and then he's got to hurry to get it out because he doesn't
05:58think
05:58that's where the blitzer's coming from and all of that is compounded by the fact that the offensive line
06:03had not played together as a unit this year and there were some complications from that so
06:08some of that is circumstance other parts of that though is just they they beat you real quick on
06:14the offensive line they beat you at the game of chess yeah do you buy that because all these guys
06:20had
06:20played together before it's not like they were yeah yeah i mentioned that it's one of those things
06:25where they can play together they've played together in the past but regardless like you're in
06:29their bullets are flying and it's been a little while since you guys worked together and especially
06:33guyton missed a lot of last year with injury to treat it like we've won yeah because i mean
06:38shoot even as much as they've played together i'm i'm interested in looking this up um because i would
06:43bet you last year because you remember cooper bb was missing at the beginning of the year tyler
06:50guyton was missing at the end of the year like there was there was several games i think last year
06:56where
06:57they didn't get the whole group together where it's like okay we got bb guyton booker smith and
07:04steel all playing together they they had several games last year where that wasn't the case and so
07:10i do think that there was a little bit of a communication a little bit of getting your feet
07:16back under you and figuring out all right let's make sure that we actually have played in sync with
07:23each other understand how to pass things off so they had last year one two three four five six
07:31uh seven eight nine ten eleven twelve they had at least 12 games last year where they didn't play
07:35together so i mean wow okay max it was five but that's without looking at the rest of it all
07:40right
07:40post that clarity here on 105 through the fan uh in the running game by the way that was just
07:44bullied that said it's a really good defensive front that knows how to play the run um that i don't
07:49give
07:49them as much hell for we talked about that on thursday that running the ball against tampa bay
07:53was going to be really really difficult and they made it difficult um okay uh defensive side of the
07:58ball you got whooped up front i mean manhandled in a way that is not acceptable and it's easy to
08:08see
08:08why jerry got as frustrated as he did uh post game where he had said essentially i pay a lot
08:13of money
08:14to these guys up front for that not to happen and we can't allow that to happen and i think
08:20that
08:20this was one of the worst games we've seen from the defensive front in terms of just getting manhandled
08:30and holding at the point of attack and being able to punch holes in the front it was bad against
08:35the
08:35giants it was at times bad against the commanders it's improved the previous two weeks but man this was
08:42a return to a lot of that and it is not a it is not an offensive line of the
08:48buccaneers especially
08:49on the interior that should be able to do that to you um the fact that they did the only
08:55thing i can
08:55come up with the only thing this three games in 12 days in the international travel did they were
09:01exhausted i mean that's the only thing i can and that the houston game the physicality of it took
09:06a lot out of them um it's not an excuse it's an explanation but that's the only thing i can
09:13think
09:13here is that they they had to have been just fatigued and wore down because they got
09:19handled in a way that is not acceptable and should never happen against a front like that
09:25yeah i bet they were just gassed i don't think there's any doubt about that i mean but the thing
09:30is like you know tampa played tampa had same amount of games the same amount of days they obviously
09:35didn't have to travel back from from rio yep but you know i i you know tampa had had just
09:41come off
09:41three straight home games that's a lot you don't usually get three straight home games at a row at
09:48any point in the season let alone the first four games yeah and i haven't watched green bay yet um
09:54for that game coming up this week but uh i know minnesota and minnesota was one of the teams in
10:00those games in minnesota is physical and minnesota does wear you down and so to an extent it's like
10:07i i don't know how much you can lean on the tire thing that's an aspect of it for sure
10:12i i don't
10:13want to give it a total just that's not an excuse being worn down does happen in this league um
10:20i just
10:20don't know that you were so much more vulnerable than tampa bay that you can use it as an excuse
10:26to
10:26let a an offensive line that had really struggled this year especially on the interior there handle
10:32you like it did and move you out of place like it did not a good game from kenny clark
10:36kenny clark
10:37had played a couple games really well early on or had played a couple games recently um this was not
10:43one of them this was this was rough and then finally here in post-cut clarity as we uh do
10:48the autopsy
10:49on the cowboys game against the buccaneers before we do some more around the nfl uh
10:55deron bland is is having a lot of problems and it is one of those things where when durant is
11:03back
11:04healthy i'd have a tough time saying that you're running your best team out there if one of your
11:12corners is bland at the moment um and i i've always been a fan of bland and i think that
11:19he still pops every now and then and shows you like okay there's there's a flash of the guy i
11:24just
11:24i do wonder if the foot injury just it robbed him and he's he's just not the same player anymore
11:30he
11:30wouldn't be the first i mean digs it was the knee bland very well may have been the foot because
11:34he
11:34ever since that injury he has just not been the same same injury as des uh i don't remember if
11:40it
11:40was the same one or not but i mean it was it was a long it was a long recovery
11:45and remember there
11:45was a follow-up surgery on it and there were there were issues across the board with that recovery
11:51but man it's bland right now definitely looks like a guy who it's tough to justify i think when you've
11:58got everybody healthy your best corner combination is probably kobe durant joey porter and then caleb
12:08downs at the nickel that's probably your best combo and even even behind that i don't know
12:14a mere speed at times looks like he plays better than than bland does so it's a rough place to
12:21be
12:21in right now cowboys defense is in a rough place this didn't make me feel any better i didn't come
12:24away from going well there were things to build on or oh this wasn't as bad as i originally thought
12:28okay so you're you're you're you're down yeah i'm i'm down on deron bland i'm down on the cowboys
12:34right now i'll be interested to see what i see on tape from the packers who whooped the chicago bears
12:41this weekend and uh what may come from that
12:44you
