00:06It's been a fairly grey old Monday and there's more wet and windy weather to come
00:10thanks to this area of low pressure developing, intensifying as it approaches the west of the Republic of Ireland.
00:16We've seen some weather fronts sitting over us for most of the day, generating a lot of cloud and drizzle.
00:20That is still the case for many, but tending to peter out across a good part of England and Wales.
00:27The rain though intensifying, the next weather system bringing a spell of heavy rain across Northern Ireland
00:31and the winds really whipping up through the evening and first part of the night around the Irish Sea
00:36and getting very lively across the northwest of Scotland, gusts of 50, 55 miles an hour possible here
00:42and that heavy rain moving into the central belt by first thing in the morning.
00:46Some of that rain getting into West Wales by dawn too.
00:49Many central and eastern parts will have a dry start and pretty much every way it will be a very
00:54mild start.
00:55Temperatures to begin Tuesday, 14, 15, 16 degrees Celsius, a little cooler in Northern Ireland
01:01because we'll be behind the weather front at this stage, clearing away from here,
01:06but generating quite a wet start to the day over parts of southeast Scotland,
01:10northwest England in particular on that morning commute.
01:13The rain by this stage should be pulling away from much of Wales,
01:16but still a pretty soggy start over the West Midlands and down towards parts of Somerset and Dorset too.
01:22Generally dry at this stage across the southeast, but it won't last.
01:26This narrowing band of rain will then work across the East Midlands,
01:30from Lincolnshire down to the southeast and East Anglia.
01:34Shortish spell of rain, useful rain of course, across eastern England,
01:37but it won't last all that long.
01:39Once it's out of the way, skies brighten and we see plenty of sunshine over South Wales
01:43and southern England for the afternoon.
01:46Further north there will be sunny spells,
01:47but there will be a whole raft of showers packing into western Scotland.
01:51Still some gusty winds, which means that the showers will zip through fairly smartly
01:55and the wind's not as strong as they will be overnight.
01:58But nevertheless, they'll be quite noticeable, a brisk breeze everywhere.
02:01But temperature-wise, well, we're still going to be above average,
02:05well above average across the southeast.
02:0722 is possible in the afternoon sunshine.
02:09Further north, 14, 15.
02:11It'll feel cool when the showers come along
02:13and because of those fairly brisk winds, which steadily ease through Tuesday evening.
02:19You'll notice the shape of the breeze, this little hump indicating a brief ridge of high pressure,
02:24which might allow things to turn a bit misty Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
02:28Maybe one or two fog patches, certainly be a cooler night.
02:32Temperatures dipping down into single figures, far from cold,
02:35but certainly cooler to start Wednesday than it will be to start Tuesday.
02:39Any mist and fog may take a while to clear getting to that time of the year with light winds.
02:44It could be fairly stubborn, but generally a dry and a bright day across England and Wales.
02:48Maybe the odd shower here and there for Wales and southern England.
02:52Dry, fine start for most of Scotland in Northern Ireland,
02:54but we will see some rain coming into the northwest and the winds strengthening as well.
02:59Getting quite boisterous by the time we get to late Wednesday,
03:03particularly again across northwest Scotland.
03:04Need to watch the winds here as that spell of rain comes in.
03:07Could get very strong indeed.
03:09Temperature-wise, well, again, we're above average.
03:11Temperatures getting into the mid to high teens across the board,
03:15particularly where we see some sunshine.
03:17Now that band of rain is another cold front which approaches,
03:20squeezes the winds for Wednesday night and then kind of sinks slowly south
03:25as we go through Thursday and into Friday.
03:27So again, bringing some rain across the south, but not a huge amount.
03:31And look at this, chunky air of high pressure waddles in behind that.
03:34That looks likely to bring many of us some fine conditions as we head into the weekend,
03:39but also slightly cooler conditions as well.
03:42For more on that, you'll want to watch our full week ahead video
03:45available on our YouTube channel.
03:47Another reason to subscribe.
