00:00Pretty mild and fairly dull. That's the forecast for most of us this afternoon.
00:05A few of us had some sunny skies to start the working week, but the cloud has been slowly spilling
00:10in from the Atlantic,
00:11and there's plenty of it, this train of cloud, tied into a couple of weather systems.
00:16This one is developing and approaching. It's this set of weather fronts that's making for a fairly grey Monday.
00:21As I said, we had some brightness across the east early on, but the cloud, with rain and drizzle, is
00:26working its way across all areas for the afternoon.
00:29Now, behind the first area of rain, we may see skies brightening a little.
00:34Parts of southwest England, maybe east Wales and northern Ireland could cheer up a touch,
00:38but for most of us, it's a lot of clouds. Rain and drizzle on and off.
00:42Nothing too heavy. There will be some drier spells.
00:45The wind's also picking up, particularly initially around the Irish Sea coast.
00:49They're getting quite blustery here, but the wind's wafting up mild air.
00:53So, even where it stays dull, the temperature's getting up to 16, 17, maybe 18 Celsius,
00:58and with a bit of brightness, say, parts of northeast Wales could get up to 20 degrees Celsius.
01:03So, really quite mild for the time of year. It's going to be a very mild night tonight.
01:07It's also going to get windy. The wind's really picking up.
01:10Initially around this western coast, we're getting very windy through the early hours over northwest Scotland.
01:15Gusts of 50, 55 miles an hour possible here.
01:18Not just windy, but also wet.
01:19A spell of quite heavy rain moves across Northern Ireland and into much of Scotland by 4 or 5 o
01:25'clock,
01:25and some of that heavy rain at the same time getting onto the west coast of Wales.
01:30As I mentioned, a very mild night. Temperatures holding up 14, 15 degrees in the south,
01:35maybe 16, 17, possible in some towns and cities.
01:39Turning a little cooler in Northern Ireland.
01:41Behind that, some rainbound because it's a cold front.
01:43But even here, we'll be in double digits to start Tuesday.
01:46Going to start pretty wet through central and southern Scotland, northwest England, and much of Wales.
01:51There's a narrowing band of rain moving across all of England as we go through Tuesday morning.
01:57It will bring some rain to east Anglia and the southeast, but, as I say, quite a narrow band,
02:01so it probably won't last all that long.
02:03And look at that. Much brighter skies follow on behind.
02:05Plenty of sunshine across the Midlands, South Wales, southern England for Tuesday afternoon.
02:10Further north, there'll be some sunny spell to a brighter day,
02:13but there'll be a lot of showers moving in on a fairly gusty wind.
02:16It will be a blustery day, but it's still going to be very mild.
02:20Again, temperatures getting up to the high teens, perhaps 21 or 22 in and around the London area.
02:26Perhaps feeling a little cooler than that because of the wind,
02:28but these numbers, again, are quite high for this time of year.
02:32The showers will keep coming into western Scotland throughout Tuesday evening.
02:36Still some heavy ones likely here, but steadily the showers do start to fade.
02:40The winds ease down as well.
02:43Just the little ridge of high pressure toppling in here, as you can tell, by the way,
02:47the winds are bending around like that.
02:49A little ridge of high pressure settles in across the south for Wednesday.
02:53Low pressure, active low pressure whizzes towards Iceland.
02:56Could again see some very strong winds on Wednesday across the northwest.
03:00And then again, we have a cold front crossing the country, bringing a little bit of rain.
03:03But this chunky area of high pressure then moving in to settle the weather down as we head into the
03:09weekend.
03:09So plenty going on with the weather this week.
