00:00Meanwhile, another tropical system brought heavy rain and dangerous surf to Southern California over the weekend.
00:05Homes in Long Beach were badly damaged by Tropical Storm Rachel,
00:09and roads in other parts of the state were hit with flash flooding and rock slides.
00:13Residents and crews worked to protect coastal homes, with some structures at risk of collapsing into the ocean.
00:19We're all on edge, all on edge, and I don't know what the city's doing about it, not much.
00:25It's very scary, and a lot of us locals have been in denial.
00:31It's because we just think, will it just stop? Will Mother Nature stop?
00:37A lifetime experience for everybody out here. It's never happened before, you know?
00:42We're seeing a lot of things changing, so it's going to be a life experience for everybody out here.
00:47There's a lot of stuff getting exposed out here where it's just, it's mind-blowing.
00:51It's mind-blowing how it's changing a lot.
00:55All these beaches, it's changing, it's getting different.
00:59It doesn't look nothing how it used to look.
01:04And of course, not the first time in the last couple of weeks that SoCal's been hit with rough surf
01:11that has led to coastal erosion or even damage of some buildings.
01:14The other big story here was the rainfall.
01:16In some areas, we saw upwards of two, three inches of rain, leading to some instances of flash flooding.
01:22If we look at storm reports, even just from the last 24 hours,
01:25Vegas was hit hard Sunday with a lot of heavy rain that led to flash flooding.
01:29We had some wind reports coming in in Colorado and down into New Mexico,
01:33and even some flash flooding down into Southern California as well.
01:36Now, California gets a chance to dry out at this point,
01:39with everything moving further inland as we go through Tuesday.
01:42At this point, it's not Rachel that's leading to the moisture.
01:46It's a different system.
01:47But bringing some snow into some areas, Nevada, into Colorado,
01:50not necessarily enough that we have a snow map like what we had for Montana over the weekend,
01:54which did see measurable snow and quite a bit of it for the first snow of the season
01:59or early snows of the season.
02:01But it's that time of year that we're starting to get that snow working its way
02:04and especially into the higher elevations,
02:06hopefully making for a little bit of a better ski season than what we had last year.
02:10Looking at our temperatures for our Tuesday overall,
02:14keep in mind some of these storms can be on the stronger side with some thunderstorms.
02:17A lot of the severe weather is set to be into the central U.S.,
02:20but just keep an eye out for any stronger wind gusts and things like that.
02:24Temperature-wise, I mean, we're evening out 65 in Vegas, 52 in Flagstaff,
02:2975 into L.A. as we go through our Tuesday.
02:33Now, the other thing to keep in mind as we head towards the end of the week,
02:35another round of Santa Ana winds.
02:37So we're going back and forth between coastal problems
02:40because of tropical moisture, tropical systems,
02:43and then the wind and the dryness leading to an elevated fire risk,
02:48something that we'll have to keep in mind as we head towards the weekend.
