Russia and the United States are discussing diesel supplies following a phone call between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said. Moscow has authorised diesel exports to global markets, including the US, to help ease supply pressures linked to disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz and reduced global refining capacity.
Novak estimates Russia could export 3 million to 3.5 million tonnes of diesel monthly by the end of 2026, while maintaining domestic supplies. The move follows repeated extensions of Russian fuel export restrictions, with the ban on direct exports by fuel producers extended until October 31, while restrictions on non-producers remain in place until January 31, 2027.
