00:01Beloran MP Ronald Kiandi is urging the government to amend parliamentary rules while it still holds power,
00:08warning that its lawmakers could face the same restrictions if they become the opposition.
00:14Speaking during the 2027 budget debate in the Dewan Rakyat,
00:18the Perikatan Nasional MP called for equal constituency allocations,
00:23easier access to no-confidence motions, and changes to the anti-hopping law.
00:28Kiandi stressed that constituency allocations should be guaranteed by law
00:34to ensure opposition MPs receive the same funding as government lawmakers,
00:39regardless of which party holds power.
00:42Kiandi acknowledged that BN had failed to guarantee constituency allocations by law
00:48when it was in government, leaving its MPs without funding after the coalition lost power in 2018.
00:55He urged the current government not to repeat the same mistake.
01:01He also called for amendments to parliamentary rules to prevent no-confidence motions
01:06against the government from being sidelined.
01:09On the anti-hopping law, the suspended Bersatu vice president argued that it had failed to stop the factions
01:17while penalizing MPs like himself who were suspended by their parties
01:22and unable to pursue new political alliances.
01:26Kiandi warned that government MPs could one day face the same funding issues
01:30and restrictions if political power changed hands,
01:34urging them to act before it was too late.
