00:00I was shitting myself from start to finish.
00:02Hi again, how are you?
00:05How are you?
00:06I saw your jacket like this and I took mine off to do the same.
00:09Oh, of course, we're always mirroring one another.
00:11Oh, listen, you are a fashion icon.
00:13The turtlenecks, I'm so glad that you've accepted that you suit them.
00:17Oh, really?
00:19Listen, I can't believe you learned to play the cello in this.
00:22Is there anything that you can't do?
00:24There is so much that I can't do that I have to be forced into, you know,
00:31the kind of arduous process of getting ready for a movie like this
00:34to actually learn anything new.
00:36I have not developed any new skills for many, many years.
00:41But is that the joy of being an actor, that you get to delve into these worlds
00:44and learn these skills that you probably would never have learned, right?
00:47Yeah, I mean, it's a total joy.
00:50It's also very terrifying because I think more than anything,
00:54it was really important to me that Tony make the movie,
00:58achieve the movie that he set out to make.
01:01And such a central aspect of that was the technical achievement
01:05of playing the cello convincingly.
01:07And so that I'd never been so afraid.
01:12I've been nervous about other jobs and the physical demands of it
01:17or the physical emotional demands, but it was nothing like this.
01:21And I guess that did surprise me a little bit.
01:27Once I held the cello, I felt good.
01:31And then once I started to learn everything else that was going to come with it
01:33to actually make it sound and make it look like somebody who is a master of the form,
01:40I was shitting myself from start to finish.
01:43Well, you absolutely smashed it.
01:44Also, this was for you because you called me a Scottish journalist.
01:47And I was like, that was a reach because I'm a yapper at best.
01:50So thank you.
01:51You are a Scottish journalist.
01:52Well, yeah.
01:53Okay.
01:54Yeah.
01:54Just someone that gets to talk for love.
01:55And journalist is quite, it's like a serious job.
01:57You're a journalist.
01:58Very serious journalist.
01:59I gotcha.
02:00A very serious journalist.
02:02Very serious Scottish journalist.
02:03There you go.
02:04I adore you.
02:06Nice to see you.
02:07You too.
02:07Hi, Pedro.
02:07This movie is a celebration of music.
02:09So I wonder, what is your favorite song and why?
02:12My favorite song, and I'm sorry to be so redundant, I say it all the time,
02:16it is Purple Rain by Prince.
02:20And Pedro, I have to ask, you know, you obviously learn how to play cello.
02:24How challenging was that?
02:25I mean, compared to other challenges that you faced all your career, where is it?
02:29It's the most challenging one that I've ever had.
02:31Wow.
02:31I would choose fighting the mountain in Game of Thrones over learning how to play the cello convincingly.
02:39I would rather, you know, be, I don't know, tossed off of a cliff with Nicolas Cage than have to
02:44learn how to play the cello.
02:45Although, now I'm in love with the instrument.
02:48I was in love with the sound, so maybe that was a good start.
02:50It was always my favorite instrument, sort of secretly.
02:54And it's a really, really nice physical company, actually, you know?
02:58It's something that, like, the size of it and the kind of embrace that it is to have a cello
03:04is an incredible comfort.
03:06But boy, sometimes it's not on your side when you want to make it sing.
03:10Thank you so much for being a part of a project.
03:12I'm so sorry, we've got to run in.
03:13Thank you so much.
03:15Bye.
