What does it mean to give your word to the Messenger of Allah? In this video, we study Sahih al-Bukhari 18, narrated by 'Ubada bin As-Samit, who was present at the historic Pledge of 'Aqaba.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) took a formal oath from his companions based on the same principles found in the Quran. In this episode, we break down the conditions of that pledge:

Not to worship anything besides Allah (Shirk).

Not to steal.

Not to commit illegal sexual intercourse.

Not to kill your children.

Not to utter slander.

Not to disobey in what is right (Ma'ruf).
