00:00Chilly days have been pretty few and far between so far this autumn, but with a change to something
00:05a fair bit fresher as we head into the weekend, be prepared for something a little bit chillier
00:10for sure.
00:11Starting off quickly looking at Friday, quite a showery day for many places, the showers
00:15coming down from the northwest once this rain in the southeast clears away, and yes, a slightly
00:20fresher feel, that's because we have colder air across us, now actually we have high pressure
00:25building pushing in from the west later Friday and into Saturday, so that's going to help
00:29clear those showers away, and with that then, notice the direction of the wind, we're bringing
00:34this cooler air, now exactly what the high pressure does, the direction that that air comes from
00:38changes a little bit through the weekend, but nonetheless there's always some relatively
00:42chilly air nearby for many places, just something milder towards the northwest later on.
00:47So yes, a chilly start on Saturday morning, a touch of frost in some places, the blues over
00:53parts of Scotland, maybe some parts of Northern Ireland, indicating where there could be a
00:57bit of frost around, can't rule out a touch of frost first thing on Saturday morning across
01:01some parts of rural England and Wales as well, but generally temperatures for many towns and
01:06cities holding up a few degrees above freezing.
01:08There will be a few patches of mist and fog around, but not a huge amount.
01:12A few showers across eastern parts first thing on Saturday, these perhaps becoming a bit more
01:17frequent as we head into the afternoon, none of them look particularly heavy, can't rule out
01:22some showers towards the far west, southwest of the UK, but less likely to see anything
01:27here.
01:27It's just those showers in the east becoming a bit more widespread through the day.
01:31Otherwise, lots of fine weather, lots of sunny weather, lots of sunshine across parts of
01:35Scotland, elsewhere, we're talking sunny spells, so a bit of cloud at times, a bit of sunshine
01:39at other times as well.
01:41Temperatures, well, they're going to be similar-ish to Friday, around or a touch below average maybe
01:47for some places, but I think you really will feel the difference compared to the milder,
01:52warmer weather that we've had through a large chunk of this week.
01:57Later on, on Saturday, we still have some showers across eastern parts for a little bit longer.
02:01Actually, they're going to linger through much of the night here, elsewhere, largely dry.
02:06With that high pressure across us, it's mostly light winds, and so yes, there could be some
02:10mist and fog patches around, but the air is actually quite dry, so I'm not expecting too
02:15much in the way of fog.
02:17But what you may notice is there's a little bit more of this frost developing across yes,
02:21parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland, and also perhaps England and Wales.
02:25I think Saturday night is likely to be a little bit chillier for many places compared to Friday
02:30night, especially towards the west.
02:32In the east, where we have the cloud, outbreaks of rain coming through, it's not going to be
02:36as chilly here, and also in the far northwest, ever so slightly milder as well.
02:41Then through Sunday itself, well, a showery picture across eastern areas
02:45to start.
02:46Any mist and fog that does develop again, that will clear away.
02:49And then there's also a bit of cloud and perhaps some rain pushing into the far northwest
02:54of Scotland.
02:54But in between these two areas, so the cloud and rain in the far northwest, the showers
02:58towards the east, there's actually a lot of fine weather to be had.
03:02Again, decent amount of sunshine for Scotland and most of Northern Ireland as well.
03:05Watch out for a few showers perhaps over parts of Northern England, but they shouldn't
03:10cause too many problems.
03:12Temperatures are going to be fairly similar to Saturday really, perhaps slightly lighter
03:16winds if anything for many places away from the northwest and the southeast where there
03:21will be some stronger winds.
03:23So in the lighter winds with the sunshine, yeah, feeling fairly decent for this stage
03:27in the year.
03:28Like I say, these temperatures are pretty standard for October.
03:31They're just going to be a little bit lower than what we've kind of become used to.
03:35Heading into next week, and we're still under the influence of that high pressure, potential
03:39for a bit of rain to come into eastern areas, it doesn't look particularly heavy.
03:43And there will perhaps be a bit more cloud as we go through Monday and perhaps also Tuesday
03:48as well.
03:49And then there are signs of a bit of a change perhaps.
03:53So whilst the start of the week may be largely dry, from the middle of the week onwards could
03:58see something a bit more cyclonic.
04:00So lower pressure systems coming through, and with that there's likely to be something
04:04a bit wetter and windier, particularly towards western areas.
04:07Eastern areas are always seeing less rain and the lighter winds.
04:10That's something to keep on top of.
04:12I think Anna will be going into a bit more detail about that in our Weather Studio Live,
04:16which you can catch live on YouTube at 12.15 on Friday or watch it back at your pleasure.
04:21I'll see you again soon.
04:22Bye bye.
