00:03He is Daryl Ryder. Maybe Daryl has the answer to the question, why is it Rysland,
00:09yet Coach Riz? Shouldn't it be Coach Riz? Daryl? I don't have that answer, and I feel
00:16like that's something you need to take up with Coach Riz. I might text Lance and figure that
00:21one out. Daryl? I think you should, because I certainly do not want to give the incorrect
00:28answer there. No, I would agree with you completely on that. I want to ask you about
00:31Shadour in a little bit, but Stephen Vogt just spoke. No idea about Game 4. Are you hearing
00:37any rumblings from around the ballpark about what they're thinking about tomorrow? I know
00:43we have a game coming up in an hour and 15 minutes, but tomorrow could be... Yeah, the
00:48forecast for tomorrow is not good. It is expected to start raining tonight, which is why they
00:54moved this thing up to 1 o'clock this afternoon, and it's not supposed to stop until possibly
00:59Saturday morning. So Saturday is looking okay for the next game of this series, but I think
01:05that there's a very good chance we will play Game 5 of this series on Sunday. Question
01:12is, on timing, do they do a 1 o'clock start, which obviously would compete with Browns-Ravens
01:17down on the lakefront? Do they do a 4 p.m. first pitch? Or should the Dodgers and Brewers
01:25finish their business? Of course, Milwaukee leads that series three games to none. If they
01:29finish that up in four or five games, that would obviously leave the prime time window
01:35open for Major League Baseball, which they absolutely love, especially on a Sunday evening
01:41coming off of football in the day. Possibly maybe we play Game 5 at 7 or 8 o'clock, but
01:48there's a lot of things up in the air. And as you mentioned, Jeff, Stephen Vogt told us
01:53before the game, because of the weather forecast and everything involved there, he's not ready
01:59to pick a starter for Game 4 just yet.
02:04You feel fairly confident tomorrow's dead. They'll move it to Saturday or Sunday.
02:09There seems to be the consensus around the ballpark, too. I mean, you talk to a lot of
02:13folks around here, team officials and officials from Major League Baseball. Yeah, they seem
02:19to be planning for the fact that they're not going to be able to play baseball here tomorrow
02:24because of the weather forecast.
02:26All right. Obviously, every game is important. And Jeff opened the show saying maybe must win.
02:31It's a playoff game. I mean, every game is must win in a playoff game. But I'm also just
02:37curious your thoughts on Gavin Williams, his start today, coming off a fantastic start
02:42in the ALDS. Give me your thoughts on him.
02:46Well, I mean, he's obviously been outstanding. I mean, who can forget? We're never going to
02:50forget that 12 strikeout performance against the Chicago White Sox, right? And also just
02:55the work he did in that series to get them to the ALCS here. So certainly like their chances
03:03this afternoon. But Tampa Bay has had some success against Gavin Williams hitting him.
03:09So this will be, you know, somewhat fascinating to watch this afternoon. We talked to Sean
03:15Armstrong along with Steven Vogt before the game. And Sean had mentioned, we don't need
03:20anyone to tell us what's at stake. We know we have to win. These are the playoffs, right?
03:24Even when they went down 0-2 to the Chicago White Sox. They didn't need anyone to say,
03:29hey, you got a must win here in game three or your season's over. They're like, we knew.
03:33And, you know, for whatever blessing or reason, this ball club is at its best when their backs
03:40are against the wall. And I almost wanted to ask Steven Vogt today, but I didn't. I really
03:47did want to ask him, hey, Steven, did the thought cross your mind about just trying to make life
03:51easier on yourselves? I know you're really good with your backs against the wall, but
03:55did you ever think maybe you want to play from the front for a change? But they've already
03:59done that. They won game one in this series. So they did play from the front, but they got
04:04to get out in front again today. You got your big arm. Carlos Mayerga calls him your Roger
04:13Clemens. Gavin Williams on the mound today. So you really need to get this one today. Go back
04:19up to one. And then that gives you an opportunity to split the remaining two games here, whether
04:25they play Friday, Saturday or Saturday, Sunday, you go back to Tampa up three, two, and you
04:30only need one of those to move on to the World Series.
04:33Darrell, you get the impression that if it gets pushed to Sunday, they will fly out after
04:38the game and just go play game six if needed on Monday.
04:42Yeah, I don't think it's because what Stephen Bosa, and this has actually been genius on
04:46his part, you know, they, with the off day, they stayed the night in Chicago, then flew
04:53back to Cleveland on the off day, then had their late workout. They did this, you know,
04:58they did that twice in that Chicago series. They did that in this series as well. They,
05:01you know, they, they slapped in Tampa, then flew to Cleveland yesterday, came to the ballpark
05:07for whatever work that they were able to get in, in between the raindrops and whatnot.
05:13But no, I mean, if they have to play a game Sunday night, they're not going to stay here
05:18in Cleveland because you certainly don't want to fly during the day and then go straight
05:23to the ballpark and play a game. So that will have to alter their travel plans. But vote is
05:28a big proponent of letting guys get a good night's sleep, hop on the plane and then move,
05:34move on the off day and then have a later in the day workout on that off day. But that's
05:39not going to happen now with the forecast probably being what it is.
05:43Darrell, let's flip over to football for a second. What are your thoughts on Shadour
05:46Sanders?
05:46Do we have to?
05:47Yes, we do.
05:48Do we have to? This is so much more fun to talk about, Andy. The Guardians are in the
05:52American League Championship Series, three wins away from the World Series.
05:55Game day.
05:56The Browns haven't sniffed the conference championship in 30 years.
06:00Darrell, is your computer open in front of you?
06:02No.
06:03It isn't?
06:03I don't know. What's normally in that right-hand corner? The date. Let me read it to you.
06:08Okay.
06:08It's October 15th. The Browns are over .500 still.
06:12Okay.
06:12Okay. I just want to remind you. So Shadour Sanders hires an agent. What do you think of
06:16that?
06:18I mean, a little curious. He would have been better off having an agent during the NFL draft
06:22process.
06:23True.
06:23Maybe he wouldn't have gone in the fifth round if he did that.
06:25That's a great point.
06:27Valid?
06:28Yeah, I mean...
06:30Maybe the smartest thing you've ever said on the show. Yes.
06:33There's a first for everything, Beckett. Yes.
06:35Yes.
06:35Yeah, I find the timing to be certainly curious. But, you know, look, the Browns are going to
06:42have some organizational decisions they have to make going forward here. There's no question
06:46about that. He did not beat out Deshaun Watson for the starting job. He is the next man up
06:53should something happen to Deshaun or, you know, Deshaun doesn't play well in the next couple
06:58weeks and then decide to make a change. But, you know, probably for next offseason, yeah, he's
07:03probably looking for someone to leverage his options for him, you know, going forward. He does want to
07:12play. He believes he should be playing and can play. You know, right now I think Todd Munkin and the
07:19Browns disagree with that. That's why Deshaun Watson is on the field. But yeah, it's the whole
07:26hiring an agent thing when he should have done that from day one is rather curious. That's
07:29what your buddy did. He hired the same guy, his college teammate and friend Travis Hunter
07:34that represents him. So, yeah. Yeah. Should have done that before the draft. Like I said,
07:40probably wouldn't have gone in the fifth round if he did.
07:41Hmm. Darrell, what do you think the Browns are thinking with their quarterback situation
07:46with Dylan Gabriel's window for 21 days being opened up and him practicing and sooner rather
07:51than later will be activated? Well, they're going to use every day of that 21 window, it
07:56feels like, right? To stall and try and figure out what they're going to do. But, you know,
08:01they're making it known they want to keep all four quarterbacks on the roster, right? They're
08:05making it known they do not want to trade Shador Sanders. My experience tells me then
08:11when the Browns make things known, that's usually an invitation to blow up their phone.
08:18So I think the best case scenario for the Browns is their phone rings and someone trades for
08:24either Shador or for Dylan Gabriel. I think that's the best case scenario. But I do see a situation
08:31where their bluff gets called, right? We see this all the time around cut down day. We talked
08:36about it, right? Before this back injury that Dylan Gabriel had or incurred in that preseason finale
08:45that allowed them or forced them to put him on injury reserve, stash him on injury reserve.
08:50And so, you know, I could see a scenario where they come out of that and they do have four
08:57quarterbacks on the active 53-man roster. And then maybe one of them get moved shortly there after
09:03that when their bluff gets called a little bit. But as the injuries of that position around the NFL
09:09pile up, you know, that, you know, could make making a trade from that position room a little easier
09:17on Andrew Barry. They couldn't do it a couple weeks ago when the Giants needed a quarterback.
09:23They couldn't. You know, were you really going to have Green be your number two quarterback as a rookie?
09:29Absolutely not. So you couldn't make a trade there. Well, now you can make a trade if,
09:35you know, an opportunity presents itself. So we'll see how it plays out.
09:39Daryl, thank you, buddy. Enjoy the game. And we appreciate you taking the time for us today.
09:43Thanks, Ben.
