00:20how I think it's really more pressure on the defense to be able to help Shador but obviously
00:25a lot of people are agitated with what Jared verse said and then there was obviously some
00:28people are upset with what Shador Sanders I didn't make either of them say anything I would I

01:18um how do you feel going into Sunday's game after all that's been said or even not said this week
01:25yeah it's been a week hasn't it yes it has buddy yes it has yeah it has um look I

01:33and what's said in in press conferences really matters nothing when it comes to what's going to
01:38take place on the field Sunday it's now it's on Shador Sanders to go out there and um and show
01:45he can do
01:46this thing um you know certainly didn't represent himself well on Wednesday but uh if he goes out
01:53there and plays well on Sunday and the Browns come home with their sixth victory of the season well who
01:59cares at that point right uh if they don't and he plays poorly then obviously we know what the
02:04conversation is going to be like not only between us but uh just you know amongst yourselves on uh
02:10Monday so we're going to find out just how serious Shador Sanders takes this uh football thing this
02:15pro football thing and um you know the the proof is going to be in how he plays on Sunday
02:20because
02:20he's going to have a full week to prepare for this thing yeah that's what uh one thing we are
02:26definitely uh debating and mulling over is what is the offense going to look like with Shador is it
02:33going to be a buttoned up offense like we saw last night in Baltimore for a backup quarterback or is
02:40it
02:40going to be uh one where we don't recognize the difference it's going to look like the exact same type
02:44of offense we saw with uh Deshaun Watson well I I think that the biggest difference will be maybe
02:50on uh some of the improvisational stuff that we've seen Deshaun do Anthony outside of that I don't think
02:59that there's going to be a tremendous schematic difference um you know the goal is still going to
03:04be to you know run the ball with Quinshawn and Dylan Sampson get it to them coming out of the
03:09backfield
03:09as well uh see if you can use uh Harold Fannin is a little bit of a safety blanket if
03:15needed to keep
03:16him involved in things uh get it down the field to Denzel Boston just get the ball into Casey
03:23Concepcion's hands and and let him do what he does in regards to the yards after the catch or yards
03:29after
03:29the touch so uh I don't think schematically there's going to be a whole lot of difference uh in in
03:34what
03:34they try and accomplish offensively um to me it's just going to come down to uh the execution of
03:41things I actually think there's more pressure on the defense going into Sunday Darryl uh because you
03:47got a new quarterback and not a new quarterback but he's it's his first time out there starting this
03:51year and you know they're going to have to get some timing down on offense there's going to be
03:55things that they're working on all week and I know he's been doing extra things and things like that
03:59things he should do but there's going to be some timing and things like that I would probably bring
04:04the offense in and try to just complete simple kept passing catches gets move the chains a little
04:11bit make them respect the pass so I can open up the run well while I do that my defense
04:16has to hold
04:16serve and I know that they're terrible running the football but damn it you've given up six touchdowns
04:22on the ground over the last couple of weeks and I can't put myself in a bind while you guys
04:26are
04:26trying to figure out and all of a sudden we're down two scores and I gotta start throwing the football
04:29with a guy who hasn't played all year right and and look I mean neither one of these teams have
04:34run
04:34the football well with any uh consistency I I saw a stat this week on X the the Browns have
04:42um
04:43allowed uh the most runs of 10 or more yards uh in the NFL this year the Saints aren't far
04:52behind
04:52and then as as far as actual offensive gains of 10 uh or more yards running the ball the Browns
05:01are
05:0123rd and the Saints are tied for 30th so I don't know um Lance and I were joking I you
05:07know is this
05:07going to be the week it's the resurrection of the run game for both of these teams with these run
05:12defenses uh not uh playing well obviously the Browns getting carved up uh in back-to-back weeks by uh
05:18Pollard and Warren and that you know that's uh uh a problem and and also very disappointing
05:24um the pass defense hasn't been a problem for them it's it's been the run it hasn't been pressure
05:31outside of Jared Verse but you know I think the defensive line has done an adequate job getting
05:36after quarterbacks uh but just for whatever reason the run defense has not been very crisp or sharp this
05:42year for the Browns um you know Alvin Kamara's banged up uh for New Orleans dealing with a back injury
05:49but you know obviously if he goes he's he's a problem so um you know I I think you're right
05:56Ken something's got to give at some point and I do agree there is pressure on this defense
06:03to get some three and outs to play the field position game to you know so they can play as
06:09coaches like to talk about the complimentary football gives Shador Sanders some optimal field
06:13position give him some short fields to work with and uh you know then hopefully Sanders and
06:19that offense can capitalize on those opportunities Daryl Ryder with us right now so uh it's been an
06:25interesting week obviously the moment we found out about the concussion then Shador gets thrown into
06:30a press conference situation and it was one of the most bizarre ones I think I've ever seen and
06:36Daryl we've been doing this for how long uh I'm sure you haven't seen many like that um what was
06:41your what your takeaway do you think that we've been a little unfair to Shador or do you think that
06:48was unbecoming of a starting quarterback uh I would lean more toward unbecoming uh listen um I can
06:55only speak for the folks that are in that room on a daily basis um and I feel that we
07:01collectively
07:01the the folks that cover the Browns on a day-to-day basis have treated Shador Sanders with respect
07:08and have been more than fair to him um I I you know he either tries to turn every question
07:18into some
07:19philosophical point that he feels he needs to make or he tries to turn it into he's being attacked
07:26and and I don't understand that we asked him very basic and simple questions you had to know going into
07:33that press conference it was the first time we have spoken to him since he hired an agent someone
07:38within the Browns organization had to have tipped him off you're going to get this question today about
07:43the agent have a response ready and um you know being asked about what he sees from the Saints defense
07:51the only out that I'm willing to give Shador is if he thought he was uh being uh accused you

08:00accused of not studying the film and and that's not what Mary Kay asked him uh she said I understand
08:07you just got thrown into this this role right now and maybe you've not had a lot of time to
08:13really
08:13sit down and go over things uh but you know what what do you see from the Saints basic question
08:19all
08:19you have to say is hey you know uh better than advertised defense got to worry about the pressure up
08:24front want to make sure you know uh I I go through my progressions uh quickly make sure I get
08:31the ball
08:31into the playmakers hands give them an opportunity to make a play after the catch boom question answered
08:36soundbite quote everybody moves on and you know I asked him about getting into a rhythm and flow because
08:43he he was also asked about the Browns slow starts now I understand maybe he doesn't want to touch
08:48that question because he's not responsible for these slow starts offensively for the Browns
08:52he hasn't been on the field for those uh so then I took a different tact said okay for you
08:57as a
08:57quarterback you know how do you get into a little rhythm uh early in a game and then that's when
09:02he
09:02said y'all asking questions that I wasn't prepared to to really answer today and it's like and I'm like
09:08well sorry uh okay um so yeah that it was bizarre um and I just a little disappointing too because
09:20I mean if you're gonna tell us you're maturing then I don't know how about you show that you're
09:26maturing um and you know uh that that was he's also got to understand he's the backup quarterback
09:33and he's auditioning for a job whether it's here in Cleveland or elsewhere and uh nobody likes talking
09:41to us I get it I understand it okay like I that's got to be the least favorite part of
09:47Todd Munkin's day
09:48it's the least favorite part of players days I understand that I I wouldn't want to stand there
09:53answer my stupid questions every day either but it's it's part of the give and take okay it's it's
09:59part of the game and and so I think that there's Shadur's got to learn that not every question is

10:13yeah I and and I'm gonna respectfully disagree with those folks why would you have to respectfully

10:31like that that is a standard Wednesday quarterback question that's not a gotcha question and so uh you
10:39know if they think those are gotcha questions so so be it um you know players get asked about their
10:47representation all the time okay again that that's a standard question yeah every QB especially when
10:53there's a shake-up gets asked about it 100% of them do he's not special all Shadur had to
10:57say is guys
10:58uh I understand you asking the question this isn't the forum for me to talk about that right now I

11:02you know just got tossed into this thing here with the Saints and I really need to make sure that
11:07all my
11:07time and energy is focused on the Saints again question answered and we all move on with our day
11:13instead he tried to create a little bit of a uh uh uh a back and forth there uh and
11:19and just it's like
11:21you know I I just again I I don't understand it but um you know I I have some non
11:28-negotiables as I
11:29get older in life and Shadur Sanders checks off a few of those non-negotiables for me and my tolerance
11:37for buffoonery and childish behavior is um really isn't there these days and um I I just I just felt
11:49that that Wednesday was really really uncalled for so what do we do if he goes out and he plays
11:54extremely well and they win well that's all that matters Ken I mean that that really is what it comes
12:00down to is go out there you play well you win the football game and and you do you boo
12:06like because
12:07that's all fans care about they they don't care about sound bites they don't care about wars with
12:11the media and and and things like that they care about their players playing well and winning football
12:17games okay so um and and but and but here's the thing too if you're going to behave that way
12:24if that's how you're going to behave then you better be damn good at your job I gotta tell you
12:28there although I I'm I'm more I was more bothered by Jared verse than anything I thought I was annoyed
12:33with Shadur and then I heard Jared verse and I go man one guy is auditioning you're supposed to be
12:37the future of this franchise you're calling out your teammates you're doing this whole thing
12:41you still meet the excuse making and all the other stuff I'm like come on well like I don't want
12:47to
12:47feel like I'm being sold a bill of goods and I'm getting and the fans are starting to get that
12:51sense
12:51and I don't I don't like this yeah here's where here's where I struggle with Jared because you
12:57know we we went six years of Kevin Stefanski right and and you have some guys that you talk to
13:01and you
13:02get nothing from and so I respect and appreciate the and just like with Todd Munkin we asked Jared a
13:08question he gives us an honest answer and he doesn't beat around the bush and I I do respect that
13:13I understand where you're coming from as well the the he brought up the the needing to be in more
13:17third and longs uh to give him more opportunities well the Browns are one of the best third and long
13:22teams they've had the most I should say third and longs of any team in the National Football League
13:27defensively and they typically give those up um and then you know he uh you know mentioned about uh
13:33being upset and angry with the teammates I appreciate the candor and honesty there I if I were in his
13:40position I probably would be too Carson Schlesinger told us he didn't see what happened that's why he
13:45didn't react to it um and he didn't know what happened until after the fact uh but there is
13:51something to be said for you got to have each other's backs but that is probably something you
13:54handle behind closed doors he's a talker he likes to talk he he explained to us yesterday that's his
14:00way of getting up for games and trying to make those games personal and and and whatnot um you know
14:07hopefully we start to see some sacks some more tackles for losses some more quarterback pressures some
14:12forced fumbles those explosive game-changing plays that we were all expecting to see from him
14:18Daryl final question yeah uh John lives in Elyria I'm not going to tell anybody what town you live in
14:24okay can John rent a room from you in your home uh no I I have no vacancy unfortunately
