00:00Oh, for the love of God.
00:03You know he sabotaged competition, Ken.
00:07It's about time that you face facts and let everybody know.
00:12Reckless speculation.
00:14He did that. He cheated.
00:18You're okay with it.
00:20Amazing.
00:22You gotta stop hanging out on the Reddit boards.
00:24People can see your face, man.
00:26That's why I ain't on Reddit.
00:28I can't wait until they make it a video later.
00:30Are there people on Reddit going, Ken and Anthony are complicit?
00:33He lied to them. He knows they're lying.
00:35They know he's lying.
00:36Well, you did admit to how much money you make off of his name.
00:40That's true.
00:41Yeah, you did.
00:42You got a Lululemon hoodie.
00:44I'll tell you what.
00:45And believe me, they ate it up.
00:47Oh, yes, they did.
00:48When I was using that easy pass to get to Buffalo, I was like,
00:53thank you, Shador.
00:54You paid for my trap.
00:55You should have seen the catfish lima pulled up out of that river after he said that
00:59because they ate the whole thing.
01:02I could not believe the responses.
01:04I sat there.
01:04I couldn't help myself.
01:05I felt like you.
01:06I just sat there and laughed and laughed and laughed and laughed and laughed some more.
01:11Todd Munkin downplayed the rivalry a bit yesterday.
01:14Some people he drew the ire of.
01:15And I go, hold on.
01:18Because I got a pretty long memory, and I wanted to make sure.
01:22So I want to hear Todd Munkin yesterday about this rivalry.
01:25Hit it.
01:26Well, it has nothing to do with our team.
01:27I mean, this year, whether it's where we're at record-wise,
01:31comparing the past or the history against the Steelers, it's a divisional game.
01:35So as I always say, what matters is what we do today, how we practice today,
01:39how we prepare today.
01:40For any opponent, it's bigger because it's obviously a divisional opponent.
01:44Fastest way to get in the playoffs is win your division.
01:46That's the fastest way to get in the playoffs.
01:48I mean, you're guaranteed in the tournament.
01:50And we're a long ways away from that.
01:51That's not what I'm saying.
01:53That's why the game is what it is.
01:55And rivalries are made up of good teams playing each other.
01:58We're fighting like hell to be a really good team.
02:00And he's right.
02:03Publicly, he's right.
02:05There are 10 players on this 53-man roster.
02:08Nick Kovach went back and found this.
02:10There are 10 players on this roster who were not alive the last time the Browns won
02:15in Pittsburgh in the regular season.
02:17Mike Hall was five months old.
02:19All right?
02:20I was in high school.
02:21You were in college.
02:23Owen was serving our country overseas.
02:26We were all – I wasn't yet an adult.
02:29Two of the three of us were adults by that time.
02:32We have a long memory.
02:34And we have no control over it.
02:35So we can be afraid of the boogeyman and all these other things.
02:39And I'm going to get into it a little bit deeper because I think that there's
02:42something patently ridiculous going on here that it's effing week eight
02:45and we are acting like this thing is the Super Bowl.
02:47And I'm not just talking about fans.
02:49I'm talking about media included.
02:50Like I heard something yesterday, and I don't mean to take aim.
02:53I like this person a lot.
02:55Like they're good.
02:55But I'm like, guys, we got to calm down here.
02:58Six and two is excellent.
03:00Five and three is not bad.
03:01But we'll get to that later.
03:04I think Todd Munkin is handling this right publicly.
03:07And the reason I think he is is I want you guys to hear Derrick Henry
03:12a few days before the Browns-Ravens game.
03:15This is coming off that Jets loss.
03:16We were going, oh, three and two.
03:19Here is Derrick Henry of the Baltimore Ravens a few days before the Ravens game,
03:24which the Browns ended up winning.
03:26Hit it.
03:26I mean, he might not say it in the media, but to the team,
03:29he's definitely talking a lot of trash.
03:31Letting him know he wants to beat us.
03:33That's just how it goes.
03:35It's going to be, like I said, a four-quarter battle.
03:38He's got him rolling over there.
03:39And we've got to finish off this right to be prepared for him.
03:42We are to learn from history, are we not?
03:45We are to learn from history.
03:47It would not surprise that.
03:49Would it surprise you if Todd Munkin, after the media, leaves the locker rooms,
03:53closed the door, and then just starts cussing up a storm about the Pittsburgh Steelers,
03:57talking about the Jared Verse quote after the game, talking about dirty play,
04:02talking about all that nastiness, old what's-his-name picking people up by their thighs
04:06and everything like that?
04:08I forget who it was.
04:09I've got to go back and look at the roster here.
04:11No.
04:11Joe Theismann.
04:13Nicely done.
04:14No, that would not surprise me.
04:15It wouldn't surprise you.
04:16Because Todd Munkin was here in 2019.
04:18And what happened in 2019?
04:20Freddie wore a Pittsburgh started it shirt.
04:22You, me, and Keith, or Keith, Kenny, had a three-way battle royale
04:27about whether or not it was the right thing to do.
04:29Then the Browns lost, and then Browns players had to answer for Freddie's shirt
04:33and answer for Freddie's comments.
04:36If Jared Verse wants to make comments, Jared Verse is on the field.
04:40Jared Verse can answer to it.
04:42Okay?
04:42If he plays this week.
04:44Okay, that's true.
04:45If Spencer Fano wants to get all angry and start making comments,
04:49Spencer Fano can answer to it.
04:51You can't take a young team and make them answer to your tough-talking comments
04:56when you go and play a team for the second time in your division,
05:00which is a historical rival.
05:01That is not a responsible thing to do.
05:04You can go close the door and drop every F-bomb you can think of
05:08and get red-faced and sweaty and cuss out Pittsburgh
05:12and say horrible things about all their mothers in private.
05:16But when there's a microphone in front of you, no.
05:18You can't be writing checks that your team has to cash,
05:21especially when you already beat that team a month ago.
05:23Well, that's the thing I think people are missing.
05:25I did hear, and it was great.
05:26It was great to hear Nick's enthusiasm and passion yesterday on the afternoon show.
05:32He was going after Munkin and going after anybody who didn't play up the rivalry,
05:37and I'm just like, they just beat him.
05:39They already beat him.
05:41How much energy as an NFL team can you spend on making this like Ohio State-Michigan?
05:51You know, when you play them twice in four weeks.
05:53I just think you can get a little carried away, and there's so much season left,
05:57and I don't want them to be on empty, you know, the following week
06:02and then just lose to New Orleans and then, you know, have the season potentially go in a tailspin
06:07because you drummed up the rivalry so much.
06:11And yes, it'd be nice to beat him twice.
06:12Like, that would give you a very big advantage in the division over them,
06:17and then you'd be 3-0.
06:19Strategically, it's huge, but...
06:20I think they can also do that without making this, you know, live or die, life or death.
06:25I think you can.
06:27I would agree with you.
06:282-1-6-4-7-4-0-0-92.
06:30It's also not college.
06:31It's not a formic who's grabbing people's legs and everything like that.
06:33Yeah, it's also not college, and I think there's a huge difference there.
06:37Like, you got the world's biggest cocktail party that's going on this weekend,
06:40or what they used to call it, apparently, you don't drink at college football games anymore.
06:44That's once a year.
06:45You have Ohio State-Michigan.
06:46That's once a year.
06:48It's one game, one time.
06:50You gotta play Pittsburgh twice.
06:51You gotta play Pittsburgh twice.
06:53And so you get to brag a little bit, except we seem to split with Pittsburgh every single year.
06:58Like, we've beaten Pittsburgh five years in a row here in Cleveland.
07:01Five years in a row, they have come here and lost.
07:04And then we go out to Pittsburgh and we lose.
07:06You split the series, and I don't think anybody,
07:09and this is part of the reason I don't think people should be going so crazy
07:12if they win or lose on Sunday, and we shouldn't be building this up as a Super Bowl,
07:18it wouldn't have surprised anybody.
07:19And I think at the outset of the season,
07:21a lot of people would hope that we would actually split with the Pittsburgh Steelers
07:24considering how bad we thought they were all going to,
07:26what most of us thought they were going to be.
07:28And I just, I hear what Todd, I took him at face value yesterday,
07:31and I go, nah, that's the right thing to do.
07:33You know, it's a long season.
07:35You gotta be, and I go, nah, they are an emotional team.
07:38They're a young team.
07:40They're an emotional team.
07:41I'm willing to bet that once the media goes,
07:44and once they're down the hallway and out of earshot,
07:47I bet Todd's getting loud.
07:50I mean, they played renegade at the beginning of practice yesterday.
07:53That's an emotional little twist.
07:56Does that work?
07:57Does that count?
07:58I don't know.
07:58Pony got all worked up about it,
08:00so at least Todd was able to troll him.
08:02And that's, again, Todd and I just are lockstep on so many things now.
08:07That's what 10 trolls, yes.
08:08I was like, well, we got a lot in common all of a sudden,
08:12Todd Munkin and I.
08:14If it gets him going, fine.
08:17But if you're Todd Munkin, you just, I don't think it was the right move,
08:21and I think he knows it's not the right move to get on the microphone
08:25and start ranting and raving and screaming and yelling,
08:28because one, it's week eight, as you just said.
08:31It is a long season.
08:32Two, you've already beat him.
08:33You've already played him.
08:34And I'm not going to put a young football team that's exceeding expectations
08:38in a position to have to answer for maybe irresponsible comments.
08:43Let radio dummies on the radio make irresponsible comments.
08:46I've made plenty of irres.
08:48You remember the Duck Hodges game?
08:50Almost called him Duck Phillips.
08:51And I said everything in the book.
08:54And Duck Hodges has sent tweets since.
08:56Duck Hodges has trolled us and trolled me ever since that game.
09:00It's happened.
09:01And I'm like, great.
09:02You know what?
09:03I had no power over that.
09:05I'm a radio dummy.
09:07I'm a glorified clown.
09:08If you want to go ahead and rip on me, you go right on ahead.
09:11I had no power in this matter.
09:13I know what I'm getting into.
09:14I don't play the game.
09:16They play the game, and I'm not responsible for what they do.
09:21They're responsible for what they do.
09:22But if I was, if I were the head coach of the Browns, yeah,
09:25you're getting a much more reserved Kenny Carmen the week leading up
09:28to the Pittsburgh Steelers game because it's the responsible thing to do,
09:31especially with the young football team.
09:33So I get it.
09:35Todd has a great personality.
09:37He can't give us what we want right now.
09:40He can't do it because he's responsible to the team.
09:44I also don't want to get pulled into, in week eight of the NFL football season,
09:49I don't want to be pulled into some dangerous grudge match that leaves guys,
09:55you know, crippled on the field like this early in the season.
09:58Like, I know it sounds good to the fans.
10:00Steelers week, Steelers week, Steelers week.
10:02And we beat them.
10:03We already beat them.
10:04And you know what?
10:05The odds are we'll probably lose this game.
10:07That's how the NFL typically works.
10:08That's how this rivalry has actually worked.
10:10Is it three or five, the spread?
10:12I thought it might be five and a half or three and a half.
10:14Three and a half is what I saw yesterday.
10:15So, I mean, you know, you're going on the road.
10:17They are more desperate for this game than you are.
10:20I know fans will be like, well, then you should be just as desperate.
10:23You can't really do that every week in the NFL.
10:25It just doesn't work.
10:26There's a reason.
10:27There are ebbs and flows to a season.
10:28You've won five of six.
10:30Are the Browns really that good that they should be?
10:32You demand them to win six of seven, including a win on the road in Pittsburgh.
10:37It'd be nice to do it.
10:38Yeah, like, don't get me wrong.
10:39I will be flying high if they pull it off.
10:42But I just don't think you need to go into this game
10:44with the mentality that this is the Super Bowl.
10:46Well, there's a clip right after seven and a half and I want to get to
10:49that it just kind of got to me yesterday on this.
10:51I know Owen's got some on this.
10:52Well, I just wanted to say, we're saying all this,
10:55and yet Cam Hayward's going to address a situation, right?
10:58Yes.
10:59He made sure that at least Pittsburgh's feeling a different way
11:02than we are this morning.
11:03He is a guy that's on the field that wears a helmet
11:06that does have some modicum of control.
11:09Todd has some control, but he can't go play the game for him.
11:13And, like, he could try to put him in the best position,
11:15but in so many ways he's a glorified cheerleader once they kick off.
11:182-1-6-4-7-4-0-0-92.
11:20I think we do have that in the system.
11:22I want to play that for everybody.
11:23Okay, we're going to get to that coming up here at 643.
11:25Thank you very much.
11:26And I want to ask you, should Todd Munkin make a bigger deal about the rivalry?
11:30For that matter, should I be making a bigger deal about the rivalry?
11:33Should I be talking irresponsibly this morning?
11:36Should Tone be talking more irresponsibly this morning?
11:40Ken Carman, Tone Master General, fat and thin in the morning on the fan.
