00:00He breaks through Durant. He's still going to the 30. To the 20. Can you believe it, Algier? To the
00:06house. How about that? How about that for Tyler Algier? 63 yards and we got a game.
00:17My goodness, what a difference a Gardner Minshew and a Tyler Algier make, huh? Boy, they flipped the script on
00:22them as Tyler Algier had that 62-yard touchdown scamper. Then his next touch, he went another 50 to the
00:2920-yard line. It was absolutely unbelievable as Arizona scores 20 in the fourth quarter. They come back. They almost
00:34won the game in regulation if it weren't for a Ryland missed extra point, but they do win it as
00:39he bangs it through the uprights to make it 33-30.
00:42Everybody, Cowboys win in overtime as we're here in the Miller Lite Field Club. Dak Prescott talking right now. We'll
00:47hear from him. He seems, just hearing a little bit of what Dak is saying, I think you've got a
00:51very frustrated Dak Prescott at the podium, rightfully so, right now.
00:54Zach Wolchuk alongside Super Bowl champ Brian Broaddus here to my left, and we are now joined by the legendary
01:00voice of your Dallas Cowboys, Brad Sham. Brad, you were making the point at the end there, like, oh my
01:05gosh, Gardner Minshew. I mean, it really was. It was a tale of two quarterbacks and two offenses there for
01:11Arizona.
01:11Yeah, and you know, it just seemed like, in retrospect, Algier makes that first run, the one we just played,
01:18and everything changed. Everything changed. Now, why does that have to happen? I don't know.
01:25And the guy had 173 yards rushing for the year. Coming in, he had 112 on those two carries. So,
01:35you know, Brian and I always say, we've got to watch the tape tomorrow. I can't tell you exactly what
01:39happened there.
01:40But from that point, then Porter was out, and they couldn't cover Wilson. You know, Wilson had three big catches
01:48for 60-something yards in the one drive, and that's pathetic. That is just pathetic to lose that game.
01:55If you told me, going in, they're going to lose the game, I would have said, you know, that'd be
01:59really disappointing. But they've managed to find ways to lose to Arizona before.
02:05But 24-10 in the fourth quarter, they had five second-half possessions, scored points on four of them.
02:13Yeah.
02:15The overtime offensive possession was really disappointing.
02:18Yeah, it really, really was. Actually, you get a stop. You know, the defense had been just horrific in the
02:26second half of that game, and all of a sudden, three plays, one yard, and then you get it, and
02:31you're thinking, just give me 20 yards, and I'm going to kick this field goal.
02:34And of all the things that happened in that fourth quarter, it goes away because it's a win, but we'll
02:40figure things out.
02:41Right, right, right, right, right.
02:42And, you know, and that's, now it's a loss, and now you have to figure things out, and you're far,
02:48you're now looking at each other as a, this is really, in the case, always like to say, a team
02:54loss.
02:55You know, offensively, defensively, coaching, front office, this is a team loss when something like this happens.
03:02Yeah, you can't say, well, the defense was horrible and lost the game, because while that's true, you've got to,
03:11offensively,
03:12offensively, don't just hand the ball off inside on a little dive play.
03:16Yeah.
03:16Like you said, you need 30 yards.
03:19Yeah.
03:19Come out and attack.
03:20Yeah.
03:21Not like I'm nobody's offensive coordinator, but that, and then they couldn't protect.
03:26It's, yeah, there was so many things going on in that game.
03:29You knew the protection or the blitz possibilities were going to be there.
03:33You know, they were able to get some guys home, able to get some pressures.
03:36You know, your running back looked wore out, in my opinion, from the Monday night game.
03:41So now you're in a situation where you're just trying to kind of figure some things out.
03:46Wish they'd maybe gone to Pickens a little bit more.
03:49He had the big play, and then there was a holding call on Guyton, I believe, you know, or something.
03:54I mean, so, you know, it's just, you kind of like, you wish that there were some other things.
03:59I would have been like you, Brad.
04:01Be aggressive in that situation.
04:03In the overtime.
04:04In the overtime.
04:04Yeah.
04:05Because I know the condition of my defense.
04:07Right.
04:08I've seen my defense.
04:09What are the odds they're getting the second stop?
04:11If I'm looking over at Christian Parker, I could see tears in his eyes.
04:14You know, and I'm like, I've got to go win this game for this guy over here because he doesn't
04:18have any answers tonight.
04:20He doesn't have any answers right now in this fourth.
04:23So I've got to do something to make it work.
04:26And unfortunately, they just didn't get it done that way.
04:29Yeah, and again, it's, when you're watching the ball, then you can't be seeing what happened off the ball.
04:38I would love to know, you know, it's not like they didn't know that Pickens was on the team, you
04:45know, so you don't know what Dak is seeing, what's presenting.
04:48We won't know that until we see.
04:49Right.
04:50It just, I mean, I just, I'm just looking for, you know, it seemed like when the ball did go
04:55to his direction, they really didn't have an answer for him.
04:59Right.
04:59But not nearly enough.
05:01Seedy, you know, and listen.
05:03Although they did swat it away from him a couple of times.
05:06Right, yeah.
05:06Well, but yeah, that's, you know, the thing with the tight end for Arizona, we're worried about him.
05:12They bottled him up.
05:13He didn't beat you.
05:14Yeah, exactly.
05:14So, I mean, there were things that you kind of could hang your hand on, but, man, it just, if
05:19I'm Schottenheimer, it's hindsight right now just because you lost the game.
05:24But, man, I think he would like to have called that series differently in the overtime right there.
05:29And what about the series?
05:30But he couldn't get a protect.
05:31He couldn't protect his quarterback either.
05:33Right.
05:33You get Ryan Flannoy trying to go full Randall Williams with that onside kick and take it back for a
05:38touchdown.
05:39You got the ball at the 20 with two, what was it, 2-11 left.
05:43And what was the penalty?
05:44Why did that come back?
05:45It was a legal touching.
05:47Yes.
05:47Which was.
05:48Well, that was on the call.
05:49They tacked on five yards.
05:51They tacked on five yards to play.
05:52And so what happened from that point?
05:54So they got the ball first and 10 at the 20.
05:56They run it for nothing.
05:57That gets sacked for a loss of six.
05:59But this is still in regulation.
06:00Yes.
06:00So they're just trying to milk the clock and get three more points so a field goal doesn't catch you
06:06or beat you.
06:07And I get that.
06:08I mean, in retrospect, that's an easy second guess.
06:12Well, first down probably wins the game.
06:15Yeah.
06:15Right.
06:16In that situation.
06:17Yeah.
06:17But you don't want to.
06:18They're out of timeouts.
06:19So if you throw the ball, you risk stopping the clock for them.
06:23I get it.
06:24The field goals should be enough for you.
06:27Unless, by the way, you're just going to let them march down the field with a minute to play.
06:32Because the NFL is now the NBA.
06:34Yeah.
06:35And so if you have a lead with a minute to play and the other team's got no timeouts, Brian
06:44and I were both working around this league when the game was over then.
06:50Well, that's not the case now.
06:53So here's the other thing that just jumps out at me.
06:57Man, they just can't rush the passer.
06:59And that was on a day when they had four sacks.
07:01Yeah.
07:01They cannot rush the passer.
07:03Well, they got the sack they needed in overtime.
07:07Yes.
07:08Right.
07:08But overall, the four touchdowns, especially the drive where Minshew took the ball the length of the field to score
07:16the goal.
07:17Yeah.
07:17I mean, eight plays, 80 yards.
07:19Yeah.
07:19Yeah.
07:19It just was like I was listening to you, and it was just pass after pass after pass, you know,
07:25just completion after completion.
07:27It's just.
07:27Yeah, that was a bad loss.
07:28That's a bad loss.
07:29That's a bad one.
07:30And as you said, that's a team loss.
07:32Yep.
07:33Everybody had a little taste in that.
07:36But, and that, I don't know, I don't know what you're going to do now because it's kind of empty
07:43now to talk about, hey, you know, we can run the table.
07:47We can, which you're not going to run the table.
07:49But you got half a season.
07:51You can still do this.
07:52You had to win that game.
07:54Yeah.
07:54You had to win that game.
07:55I feel like you've kind of let a couple of games just go.
07:59I feel like the Baltimore game was a game that got let go.
08:03And I feel like this was a game that got let go.
08:05But, and the Baltimore game, you know, at that point, they're still a good team.
08:08It's Lamar Jackson.
08:09I'll still get this.
08:10You can't lose this game.
08:11No.
08:12And, you know, Dak said something that nobody paid much attention to.
08:16I think it was last week about how, you know, we can say that we've still got plenty of time
08:22and the division is there.
08:23And he said, Dak said, you can only say that for so long.
08:29And who knows, we may have already gotten past that point.
08:32Well, it didn't look like it after the game on Monday night.
08:36But I can't say that there's anything to hang your head on now going forward except just go out and
08:41try to win a game and see what happens from there.
08:44Brad, thank you so much.
08:46Sure, you bet.
08:46We'll do it again next week after Indy.
08:48There he goes.
