00:00Yes.
00:00Okay.
00:01All right.
00:02Are you dressing up?
00:03Are you guys got trick-or-treating tomorrow?
00:04We have trick-or-treating tomorrow.
00:05Now we have...
00:06Are you dressing up?
00:07No.
00:07Why not?
00:08I will not.
00:09What, are you too good to dress up for your kids?
00:11Look, my attention is going to be dialed into the Ohio State-USC game tomorrow night.
00:16Oh, God.
00:17Here we go.
00:17Are you sure about that?
00:19And Ryan Day, you've had two weeks to break in a new quarterback.
00:23Two weeks!
00:24With all the resources of Ohio State, you better show up.
00:27I'm just going to go as a Shador Sanders troll.
00:30Every day, man.
00:31Every single day.
00:32Every day.
00:33Actually, it's not even him.
00:34It's his fans.
00:34He's got so much money from it.
00:36He can buy whatever costume.
00:37He can buy whatever.
00:38It's true.
00:38I could own the entire Spirit Store.
00:43And I don't think he's getting traded.
00:45I'm sorry.
00:46Sorry to the haters.
00:47Wait, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
00:49Are you being told Intel?
00:51I don't think he's getting traded.
00:53And I was told it's not a big deal.
00:55Oh, thank God.
00:56It's not a big deal that he lost reps to Dylan Gabriel over the last week.
00:59But I was told he definitely lost reps.
01:03I just had to fit that one in there.
01:04Are you serious?
01:05He lost reps?
01:06He, quote, lost reps?
01:07Maybe it's not a losing of the reps, but they wanted to give Dylan a little bit of an opportunity.
01:13Now you know how that's going to be framed.
01:15Sure.
01:16But you know what?
01:16We're not panicking.
01:18We're not worried about it over here.
01:19You're not pandering either.
01:20My cash cow is, you know, going to take a little bit of a hit this week.
01:25Because we are not pandering.
01:26And I'll tell you why.
01:27It's 643.
01:28Because apparently we're being called out by people on the stage for not being hiked up enough about the five
01:32and two Browns taking on another team this morning.
01:37Is Nick Wilson going to come dressed up as Turkey Jones in the afternoon?
01:41Just come in as chomps.
01:43Right.
01:44I know a guy who can get you the costume.
01:47Now, again, I can't wear it because I can't remember the day.
01:50But either way, there we go.
01:52I'm sorry.
01:53I let us all down, man.
01:55I'm really sorry.
01:57I'm really sorry.
02:00I know.
02:01It's on me.
02:02I wear that.
02:03It's shocking.
02:04No, you didn't wear that.
02:05No, technically I don't wear that.
02:07But it's on me.
02:10Everybody's begging me to go as Dusty Rhodes.
02:12I'll go as Dusty Rhodes next year, okay?
02:13I'll give everybody what they want, and I'll do the whole show.
02:16To make up for it, next year, if I'm still with us, I will go as Dusty Rhodes, and I'll
02:21do the whole show as Dusty Rhodes.
02:22Oh, and for the originator of the costume emporium, this is a shock.
02:26This is a high embarrassment.
02:28I apologize.
02:29So anyway, all right.
02:31Onward with the regular-ass sports talk radio show.
02:36Jared Burse writing checks that he has to cash this weekend.
02:41Was he talking trash this week?
02:44Well, I'm asking questions.
02:46Because I don't mind Todd.
02:47Todd Munkin played renegade at the beginning of practice this week.
02:50I'm sure he's going to do it today at the beginning.
02:53And that's fine.
02:55I don't need Todd Munkin to be out there hooting and hollering, whooping it up, or anything like that.
03:00I totally disagreed with some people here at the station.
03:03I go, he's the head coach of the football team.
03:05We need to learn our lesson from 2019.
03:07Freddie went out there, barked, and people loved it.
03:11And then they lost to Duck Hodges, and it looked like he made a complete ass of himself
03:14as his team had to go out there and answer for his words.
03:17And Todd Munkin was a part of that coaching staff and probably sat there and go,
03:20boy, this is pretty irresponsible.
03:21He has no control over this football game other than to be the head coach of the football team,
03:25which really just makes you, in that moment, you can put guys in the right position.
03:29You can try to do everything you want.
03:31Preparation matters.
03:32All that is.
03:32But by the time you kick off, the game is in the player's hands, man.
03:35In so many ways, you become a little bit more powerful of a cheerleader.
03:40And when Freddie did that, like, you can go back in the archives.
03:44We argued with Kenny in real time.
03:46Because some people went after me because I'm like, this is dumb.
03:48He shouldn't have done this.
03:49The Pittsburgh started it short.
03:51Kenny wanted to come over the table at me.
03:53And I'm like, no, it's silly.
03:55You can't be shooting your mouth off as the head coach of a football team when your team has to
04:01go play this team.
04:02And it ended up being right.
04:04So why do I bring this up?
04:06Todd doesn't say anything.
04:07That's fine.
04:08He doesn't need to.
04:09He's the head coach.
04:10Jared Verst, though, on the other hand, he called them dirty.
04:13He called the Steelers dirty.
04:14And there is video evidence of Mike McCormick doing things that he shouldn't have done as the guard of the
04:21Pittsburgh Steelers.
04:23Shouldn't have done that.
04:24That's an illegal move, my friend.
04:27So Jared Verst, he had this to say yesterday.
04:31Or Mason McCormick, I said Mike.
04:32He had this to say yesterday in the locker room.
04:37Because, by the way, he was limited today, yesterday, with a knee injury.
04:41But he was out there.
04:43He was out there.
04:44I'm sure he's a step forward.
04:47Yeah, because he was out of practice on Wednesday.
04:49He was limited yesterday.
04:50I imagine he's going to be out there Sunday.
04:52We'll see.
04:53Here is Jared Verst yesterday.
04:54Same as I always have been.
04:56I'm just going in there ready to dominate.
04:57Obviously, I've been waiting for this one for a good little bit.
04:59But, you know, the whole bulletin board material and thing like that, I'm just ready to go put them hands
05:03on them.
05:04I'm just going to keep it simple like that.
05:05Did you see Cam Hayward's comments the other day about what you had said after the game?
05:09I'm not worried about Cam.
05:10I'm not worried about their O-line.
05:11I'm not worried about the way they got on their team.
05:13We're out there to go to dominate.
05:14We're about to make Pittsburgh ours on Sunday.
05:16Okay.
05:17About to make Pittsburgh ours on Sunday.
05:19Is Jared Verst writing checks he has to cash?
05:21Do they have to win?
05:23Does he have to come up with a sack?
05:24Well, if you're a believer.
05:25I want to know from the fans.
05:26If you're a believer and you feel like this show is not hyped up the game enough this week,
05:30you've got to absolutely love everything that Jared Verst said yesterday, right?
05:34Like you want all the players.
05:36You want how many 50-plus guys to do that and make this the biggest deal in the world,
05:42even though we just played them and just beat them.
05:44Well, you want everybody to make every game a big deal.
05:47People get annoyed when you say, well, you're trying to go 1-0 every week because it does sound like
05:51it's –
05:51it does sound a little bit cliche and it's like, well, we're just trying to keep the main thing the
05:55main thing and all the other stuff.
05:57But that's what you're trying to do.
05:59But when Jared Verst is talking, like Jared Verst has been an emotional leader.
06:02And I've cut Jared Verst a lot of slack.
06:04Like we've had some callers be critical of Jared Verst.
06:06And I go, I really don't need an abundance of sacks from Jared Verst when I got 11 different guys
06:12getting sacks on my defense this year.
06:14This is a good defense and they've been able to get to the quarterback as a whole.
06:18But I don't think that a lot of people – like you're used to seeing one guy go out there
06:22and amass all the sacks
06:23and being excited about that guy being the focal point of a good defense.
06:27The defense has been good.
06:28It wasn't like the defense is all of a sudden good.
06:30If he were just getting empty calories and the defense wasn't good,
06:34I think that maybe that point might be a little bit valid in some ways.
06:39But now you have a good – you've still had a good defense.
06:42I don't think my defense has lost much at all.
06:44I got to tell you, without Myles Garrett, not knocking him,
06:48I'm not going to sit there and try to tell you that Jared Verst is better.
06:52And I'm not going to try to tell you that the defense is better.
06:54I just don't think they've lost anything.
06:56No, I don't know if I agree with that.
06:58I think the attack is different.
07:00I think that they –
07:02I don't know how you don't agree with that.
07:03I mean, yeah, we gave up over 100 yards on the ground on Sunday against Tony Pollard,
07:07but every time he plays us, he's great.
07:08No, I don't even – I don't even mean in the run game or anything like that.
07:12The way that Myles Garrett would get home,
07:16even if it was just a couple of times a game,
07:18I mean, those are essentially possession enders, right?
07:23Yeah.
07:24The way that he could come through and just end a possession,
07:29and it wasn't just on a third down, right?
07:31Like, he would collapse an entire pocket.
07:33Like, they don't have that this year.
07:34Well, no, they don't.
07:35A lot of their sacks are coverage sacks.
07:37But again, it's not – and that's fine.
07:39I thought without Myles Garrett, it's going to make everybody –
07:42I was nervous about going into the season with this defense
07:45because I thought a lot of this would get exposed.
07:48Not Denzel Ward necessarily, but the other side.
07:51Maybe a little bit of the linebacker play.
07:53Maybe a little bit of the defensive line.
07:55I was a little bit nervous for Mason Graham.
07:57Mason Graham has been fantastic this year, thank goodness.
08:00I haven't had a drop-off, a pronounced drop-off in my defense,
08:04and I've had a bunch of other guys be able to contribute.
08:07Again, it's not a knock on Myles, but I just don't have –
08:12I'm not angry with Jared Verse for not getting a sack.
08:16I do think, though, he's saying some things that if they –
08:22and I stand by this.
08:24If they go out there and they play a tough football game
08:27and they just lose the football game,
08:28I'm going to be pretty measured on Monday.
08:31But I do think if they go out there and they lose the football game
08:34and people look in the box score and Jared Verse has another zero
08:37next to the sacks, I think we're going to get some pretty nasty calls.
08:39Yeah, there's some pressure on him this week.
08:41And I might get defensive.
08:42They might give up 100 total yards and lose 6-3,
08:44but if he doesn't have any sacks, I think there's going to be some people
08:46who are pretty nasty.
08:47Yeah, because you're essentially at the halfway point of the season
08:50and he's got nothing to show for it in the category
08:53that everybody pays attention to.
08:54They don't care about pass rush win rate.
08:56They don't care about pressures.
08:58The team might, and the team charts all that stuff.
09:00And you've made such a huge investment.
09:02It's not a question of paying him.
09:04You will pay him at the end of the year going into next season
09:06after year three.
09:07If he has zero sacks halfway through the year,
09:09I think fans will start to say, okay, let's pay him, but what?
09:13We're not just going to turn around and give him.
09:16What's the market value?
09:18But they're going to say he's not worth one of the market rates
09:23for a big-time pass rusher.
09:24How good is your offense?
09:25What is your record?
09:26Your offense isn't that great.
09:28Your record is 5-2 to start things off.
09:30My guy is part of that.
09:31You will pay my guy.
09:32I think they'd say, but we'll pay the defensive coordinator.
09:35We're not going to – what Jared Verse is doing is very,
09:38very replaceable.
09:39You still need the players.
09:41I think, well, right now, can't you replace the defensive coordinator?
09:45We did, didn't we?
09:47Yeah, but you're doing it without Miles Garrett.
09:50Let's get into the callers.
09:50It's not necessarily because of Jared Verse.
09:52Let's get into it with the callers.
09:532-1-6-4-7-4-0-0-92.
09:54Is Jared Verse writing checks?
09:56He has to cash.
09:58You heard what he said.
09:59We'll play it for you again when we come back.
10:00I want to know from you guys, 2-1-6-4-7-4-0-0-92.
10:03Ken Carman, Tone Master General, fat and thin in the morning on the fan.
