00:01We begin tonight with breaking news out of the state of Oregon. Police say five people are believed to have
00:07been killed following a shooting at an elementary school in Bend, Oregon. The shooter is confirmed dead as well. It's
00:13not clear if they are included in that number. Police say children are among those and a shot was fired
00:20outside the Silver Rail Elementary this afternoon as well. Police say the suspect was shot inside the school shortly after
00:27police arrived at the scene although they do not
00:29know if the suspect was shot by police or a bystander. We received the first report at 1259 of a
00:37shooter outside of the building shooting into a car and within about a minute we were receiving multiple 911 calls
00:44from within the school. Our officers were on scene at 102 and the shooter was down seconds later. This is
00:50the kind of thing we never want to see happen in Bend. It's devastating. Apologies. It's devastating.
00:59And our hearts go out to this community and we ask our community to really work together and come together
01:06at this time. It is devastating. It's devastating for everybody involved. Officers are evacuating that building room by room as
01:13this investigation continues. You can imagine the presence there and everything. Parents, anybody who is connected to that school is
01:21waiting for word. More than 450 students are enrolled at Silver Rail Elementary School.
01:28Again, this is happening in Bend, Oregon. We'll continue to follow this minute by minute and bring you the very
01:32latest as we get it here into the Fox 9 newsroom as well.
