00:02Spanish polar explorer Ramón Laramendi is set to lead a scientific expedition
00:07that will travel across Antarctica over roughly 80 days without using fossil fuels for transport.
00:15The wind turbine is something totally unique in the world because it is the only system,
00:20the only vehicle moved by renewable energies to move to the interior of Groenland and Antarctica.
00:26The route will begin in Queen Maudland in East Antarctica and end at the Franco-Italian Concordia Station.
00:32Designed using Inuit techniques and modern technology, the wind sled uses kites to move and solar energy to power scientific
00:40equipment.
00:41There may be other systems moved by renewable energies to cross the interior of Antarctica,
00:44but none will be more sustainable and with less impact than the wind turbine.
00:49The expedition will carry out 16 scientific projects,
00:53ranging from investigating the presence of microplastics, pollutants and possible microorganisms and viruses.
00:59In addition to taking part in the fieldwork, the four explorers will themselves be the subject of study
01:05to examine the impact of prolonged isolation.
01:08We are the experiment.
01:10We are the experiment.
01:10Four people, aislated, during 85 days in the interior of Antarctica.
01:16In fact, there are two projects in which we are part of the research project.
01:21A few days for the expedition to go to Antarctica,
01:25the crew of the Viento's crew is prepared to face a travel of 3.400 km
01:30for one of the territories most inhóspits of the planet.
01:3480 days of travel, 16 projects scientific projects
01:37and a goal is to demonstrate that it is possible to keep learning
01:40even in the most remote areas of the Earth and do it without emissions.
01:45It is an adventure that aspire to open new ways for the polar exploration
01:48and that has a marked Spanish spell.
