A major face-off broke out near Mandi House and Barakhamba Road in central Delhi as police and paramilitary forces intercepted Left leaders and students attempting to march towards Connaught Place to unfurl the national tricolour. Security personnel detained several demonstrators, including Left leader Dipankar Bhattacharya and student activist Neha Bora. Ground reports indicated heavy deployment of forces creating rings to contain crowds after pushbacks occurred outside the Indian Council of World Affairs. Meanwhile, pro-BJP protesters were also present nearby chanting slogans, creating dual flashpoints across the Mandi House corridor as detentions continued.

00:00Alright, having understood that entire sequence of events, let's get some live reactions from
00:05the ground. Let's cut across to my colleague Preeti Chaudhary joining us. Preeti, if you
00:09could hear that entire interaction, it's quite unprecedented what has happened. But
00:14let me also bring to your notice that right, you know, very close to where you're standing
00:19is Munish Pandey. And Munish Pandey is reporting to us that there are some pro-BJP protesters
00:26over there who are chanting Modi Modi. So while there are protesters on the ground in support
00:32of the CJP, there are those in the support of the BJP as well.
00:41Alright, Sona, let me just tell you what's happening on ground right now. We are right
00:45in front of ICWA, the Pankar Bhattacharya of the left and it seems there is also Neha
00:50Bora here in decoy. At least that's what we've been told. They have just emerged from
00:59Mandi House and they're trying to make their way to the inner circle. These are the visuals
01:04that we are beaming to you live right outside ICWA. This is where the police have stopped
01:10the Pankar Bhattacharya as well as what we've been told is Neha Bora in decoy, we've been
01:20in right now. They are detaining the left leaders and left students here. Suddenly they started
01:32unfurling the tricolor. The Pankar Bhattacharya of what I know of the left is here. Neha Bora
01:38is also here in decoy. She's trying to make her way out. I have seen her wearing a cap and
01:46a brown shirt and detentions have now begun. This is the first time we've seen force.
01:52This is the first time if you can see right here that we have seen force.
02:04All right. So what you see right now on your television screen is the first splash point. The first
02:15splash point which has led to a bit of a face-off between the left students as well as the
02:24left
02:29paramilitary forces. A ring has been created. If I can find my camera person, Pawan, but if
02:36you can hear me, Sonal, if you can hear me, can you just tell me if you can hear me?
02:39I can, Preeti, go ahead. I can. Go ahead.
02:42So detentions have now started. They are being picked up one by one. A sudden collection
02:54of left leaders and left students. I did see the Pankar Bhattacharya with him of what
02:59I know is Neha Bora. And they were making their way from here towards the inner circle. I'm
03:05at Mandi House. And this is the Barakamba road. And things have come to a clear head right
03:10now. Sudden bolstering of police personnel and paramilitary forces. One by one the left
03:22leaders have been picked up. I can also tell you, while this flash point continues not very
03:27far off from here, on the other side of Mandi House, I can see a build up of left students
03:32there as well. So I think there will be, on the other side of Mandi House, another flash
03:39point with, now you can call them protestors because they are making their way and not being
03:45allowed to make their way to Kanoat Place to unfold the Tiranga. And what is taking place
03:51here is a huge face off and a push back from left students.
