00:00On the other side, I'm not giving enough love here to what the Rancho Cucamonga Brewers have done.
00:05That's what Bob and I have dubbed them because, I mean, hey, Bauer, Bob, I remember him when he was
00:12with Snell with the Rays back in the day and everyone thought he was a good player, but he wasn't
00:19really.
00:19They didn't know where they were going to fit him in.
00:22I mean, Pat Murphy has done such a whale of a job with this team, the organization itself.
00:30How are the Brewers where they are now?
00:32How did they get here?
00:35You know, just a great job developing these players, drafting them, and picking guys off the scrap heap.
00:41You know, guys like you said, Bowers and so many of these guys.
00:45Garrett Mitchell has been hurt so much.
00:47You know, he jumps out.
00:48You know, Admiral Urabi, you know, pitching every day in the postseason until game four.
00:54But just a, you know, get these guys to develop them right.
00:59And they've got a great nucleus.
01:00They still have the top farm system in baseball.
01:03And they're just going to get better.
01:04I mean, they could go on a little, you know, run here.
01:07You know, they've got the four straight division titles.
01:09I don't see them slowing down.
01:11There's no reason in the world why they won't be back year after year for a number of years now.
01:16You know, I'm not saying they could be the next Dodgers with a, you know, 14-year dynasty.
01:20But, you know, they've been a plow.
01:22I think seven of the last nine years.
01:23They could get this thing to keep going.
01:26You know, correct me if I'm wrong, Bob.
01:29You're the historian here.
01:30I think the World Series, the two World Series that they've been in, 82, they got beaten seven by the
01:36Cardinals.
01:37And I think Henry Aaron's team back in the late 50s, they made the World Series against the Yankees.
01:44I mean, with a lockout coming up, how do teams like the Rays and the Brewers not justify saying, hey,
01:54look, you can win in small markets?
01:56You know, you're talking about profit sharing and all that.
01:59If you get a Rays-Brewers series, doesn't that counter everything what people are saying about profit sharing?
02:04Because the richest teams in baseball won't be in the World Series.
02:10Yeah, I mean, don't forget, Danny, the team with the lowest payroll in baseball is Cleveland Guardians.
02:16They're playing, too.
02:17So, you know, either way, Cleveland or the Rays, it really doesn't matter.
02:21Cleveland's a bigger market but a smaller payroll.
02:24But, yeah, the union is absolutely loving this.
02:27So, when it comes to a bargaining table, they'll say, what do you mean competitive balance?
02:30We've got great competitive balance.
02:32You know, you don't need money to win.
02:33On the flip side, you can say these teams are the union's worst nightmare, too, because they're winning.
02:40You don't have to have a big payroll, so you don't have to go by the big free agents.
02:44So, it can kind of work both ways.
02:46But the union is absolutely loving this.
02:50It's the dream for them.
